This dropped for me after having Rank 2. My location was 55:54 though I suspects its random drop off of any node.

I want to say I'm lucky with this as I only have two stacks of 200 of Zin'anthid at the time of posting this.

Rank 1 can be obtained by talking to either Rolm at 49, 61 in Nazjatar or Insturctor Ulooaka at 38, 53 in Nazjatar. You do need to have Battle Herbalism skill level 140+

Rank 2 can be obtained from Carnivorous Lasher - the rare, not the quest mob. The rare comes from Germinating Seed which has a small drop chance from mobs in Nazjatar and from gathering Zin'anthid. The first seed you'll get is a quest item which will phase you, but for the subsequent seeds, you will have to find some fertile soil in the Coral Reef area (best bet is to hang out at 54, 41 and announce when it spawns) to plant it. The second and beyond Lashers will not phase you, and you will have to collect 10 of the bugs to feed before it becomes attackable.

Rank 3 can be obtained from a Zin'anthid Tentacle, which has a small drop chance from gathering Zin'anthid nodes after having Rank 2. This is a simple turn-in quest where you return to either Rolm at 49, 61 in Nazjatar or Insturctor Ulooaka at 38, 53 in Nazjatar to turn in.

From what I can tell, you get anywhere between 1~3 at Rank 1

got mine in 5 minute after i got rank 2!

there is no specified location just run and gather herbs where ever you are

Farmed over 200 Zin'anthid between getting rank 2 and when the item for rank 3 dropped for me.

Perhaps interesting for people that want to get this is on alts: I could get rank 1 from the trainer in Mezzamere after setting up the portal with Jaina, join a group for the Lasher getting rank 2 and getting this about ten minutes later. It's probably the same for Horde: just the quests so that you phase into the proper town with players visible.
