These can appear laying about the Ember Court when Mikanikos is invited. Once you pick up one he will show the blue question mark but over him but you cannot turn it in for Bonus Happiness until you've found 4. They must be hard to spot as I only found one on my first try with him.

After a few weeks I finally managed to find four curios to give to Mikanikos:

On a ledge in the tower where you start the Ember Court with Temel. Climb the rubble inside the tower, then the stairs to the south, then jump from above down to the ledge with the curio
On the right side of the pavilion where you get the guest list from Lord Garridan
Climb to the top of the northern walls bordering Sinfall and follow them until you reach the northeastern tower (there is a pavilion and a ballista nearby)
To the right of the gate where the guests first come in (when looking from inside the court) on a box under a stone overhang

Worked out all 8 with the assistance of the map and the comments above. Since all 8 aren't referenced in a single location, here's a description. Note that Ooklathemok posted about four of these and Grogir posted one.

First four are inside the tower.
1) Walking up the rubble/steps to go up the tower leads you to your first. Looking out over the open space before turning, you'll see the first curio outside on a small rubble ledge to the left.
2) Continuing up the stairs, before going "inside" the enclosed stairwell, look left. Follow the ledge to pick up #2.
3) Looking across to the rubble area you can see #3. I tried various ways of jumping etc. but ultimately went upstairs and used my hearty dragon plume to float down into this spot and pick up #3. (Credit: Ooklathemok)
4) At the top of the stairs, go left (toward the rally bell). Turn around on the balcony and you'll see it to the left of the door.
5) Just south of the tea between the two balcony, jump down to the ledge. Curio is on the table.(Credit: Grogir)
