At least from the PTR, it seems this cannot be used in conjunction with old world craftable gear. Old world gear is restricted to Relics, whereas these marks are specifically for Shadowlands crafting gear.

This is actually extremely useful for boosted characters or simply just levelled characters that have item level below 80.Since not all crafted green quality gear start at lvl50, some of the items range from 50-54lvl. Item level 80 is required for you to queue up random normal dungeons, if you have item level below that, you dont have many ways of getting gear if you picked Threads of Fate because there are less quests left for you to raise your item level.

Am I missing something here? "Set the Item Level to 87 and the Required Level to 50" Why in the hell would I do this when i can craft (blacksmithing for example) a Ceremonious Mace that is item level 100 and required level 50. I don't see any reason for Novice Crafter's Mark to be used.

I thought it was obvious but apparently people are not understanding what this would be used for. It is used to lower the ilevel and level requirements on the higher level gear for lower level toons.

In other words, its for your alts. Simple.

Unable to use this currently on the Bouclier de cérémonie via Blacksmithing. Was able to use it on all the armor.

Wowhead shows the shield as level 50 to equip but is Level 51 in-game which is perhaps the reason the item is not correctly set.

Useless for Inscription (as at 9.0.2) as all items you can craft are Level 50, item level 100. This would only lower the item level.

However for Leatherworking, some of the crafted levelling set has a Level 54 or 56 requirement by default. For these, you can lower the requirement to Level 50 so that your boosted (or newly levelled alt that didn't get BfA gear) can wear them at level 50. This enables your alt to enter Normal dungeons, which have a minimum iLevel requirement of 80. This is especially handy if you chose Threads of Fate as there are a limited number of (do-able) World Quests or side-quests that offer gear.

I am doing good business on the AH selling tailoring Shrouded Cloth gear that is equippable at level 50, by using Novice Crafter's Mark.

The bracers and sandals do not need a mark because they can be equipped at level 50 and have iLvl 100, which is much better than what is crafted using a Novice mark, but all the other Shrouded Cloth gear requires level 52 or higher unless you use a Novice mark. For new level 50 characters, iLvl 87 gear may be better than whatever gear they already have.

Not all characters want cloth gear, but everyone needs a cloak! Pèlerine en suaire requires level 54 when crafting it the regular way. But if you use the Novice mark then the cape requires level 50 and potentially ANY character on your realm that just dinged 50 will be in the market to buy that cloak on the AH.

Trying to make armor and 2 2-handed weapons for my lvl 50 warrior. It won't let me use it on the Ceremonious Claymore or the Ceremonious Armguards. I'm ok w/all the other armor. Those items are in the AH as lvl 50/87 ilvl. I don't know how they got to craft them but it won't let me...

Currently there's a crafting UI oversight. When you open crafting UI with your max level char, the ilevel 100 items are showed as requiring level 60 chars which is incorrect. Thus people are trying to use Novice Crafter's Mark on them and the ui won't show it as an option.

Any ilevel 100 crafted item can be used by level 50 chars.
