This trinket used to be good pre-2.0, it gave a 20% damage increase. Now with the static 250 +damage plus mana increase, it is not worth using.

Should perhaps consider writing best _burst_ damage shaman trinket in-game.

Icon of Silver Crescent is (as per 2.0.x) +42dmg and +153dmg/20sec = 42 + 25.5 = 67.5 damage overall.

While this ends up at:

250/15 (dmg increase/total times it can be used on 5mins) = 16.66667 dmg.

Worst sustainable trinket in-game for shaman if I'm not mistaken.

It was always only a pvp trinket. It's just compounded even more as that.

If you have one, it's worth popping for big, big numbers in elemental mode, but certainly not worth making any effort to get one.

I personally feel they should change the negative effect of the trinket to a set amount of mana, instead of a scaling one, as the damage no longer scales. As it stands this was the only BWL trinket to have a "downside", even if they removed the mana cost, it still wouldn't be worth acquiring because of the longer cooldown.

But I suppose after seeing what they did to the Lifegiving Gem, Blizzard are just trying their hardest to make sure all old gear is worthless.

Hex Shrunken Head (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33829) is now better in all ways than this trinket.

Its combined passive and Use spell damage is greater than the use damage of this trinket, so it is superior even in burst damage.

Of course, it is vastly superior in all other situations.

If it it still had remained the same it would prolly be the best damage trinket for a elemental shaman. Also very nice animation and sound effect when activated!!

Ahh, the memories... seeing a pvp video of my guildmate on his well-geared ele shaman at level 60, blowing this trinket and blasting chain lightnings bigger than most of my mage's nukes. Granted it was changed and doesn't do 20% anymore, but I'd still try to get it for the nostalgia.

Used to pop this with http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19950#comments when zhc was 400, with the 20% damage and Chainlightning = sad ally
