Used to be found off World Nightmare Dragon Bosses around Azeroth. Ever since Cataclysm, the Dragons have been removed from the game thus making Dreamscales unobtainable.

If you have any of these dont let them go for cheap. I see them pop up now and again for less than 1k a piece, when the breastplate they make can sell for tens of thousands or more, and it only takes 3 scales. I would advise anyone who finds that they have these to try and sell for a few k a pop. They may not sell fast but I would buy them for about 3k each at least if i saw them. :P (I am also a collector and willing to pay the outrageous prices for these items, so that's why i would pay more than the average WoW player.)

As of patch 7.3.5 and the recent changes to scale levels, these scales are back. I just got two from Nefarian in Blackwing Lair.

With the reintroduction of removed vanilla-era materials like Cuir de tigre primordial, Cuir de chauve-souris primordiale, and recently Rune de givre, it makes one wonder if this won't also be receiving the same treatment at some point.

EDIT: These are dropping again as of Patch 10.1.5!
They have a very low chance of dropping when skinning Green Dragon mobs in Temple englouti.

They're also confirmed to drop from skinning the Dragon of Nightmare Anniversary World Bosses Ysondre, Léthon, Emeriss and Taerar.
