Yup got this from a Disembodied PROTECTOR today. Killed a lot of Vindicators but I guess it's just the protectors.

It took me 94 kills of the disembodied protectors before this dropped -- not too bad overall compared to some of the other plans. Respawn rates are pretty good on these, but there's a little distance between them - a flying mount definitely helps for skipping between mobs.

Just to add a little parity, this dropped off the first Protector I killed. Didn't even know it was a drop. Just grinding outside Area 52. Don't hate. :)

I keep killing these guys by the dozens and it never seems to drop. By far the hardest of all the non-instance BoP patterns I've tried to farm.

i cant get these to drop i have almost all the bop plans except a few from instances and these are taking the longest. probably put forth 3+ hours of farming on seperate occasions. khartsfield i do have hate.

After lucking out and getting my on my 7th Bloodwarder, I thought I'd press my luck and try for this in the same night. 206 freaking Disembodied Protectors later, I finally get it. Horrid drop rate is right.

It took me 314 kills actually, which is horrible luck, but I imagine the drop rate averages about 0.5% overall. This particular BOP is so much more painful than the rest due to the fact that the mob's have almost no loot table at all. Absolute crap. Netherweave is all your going to get. If they had some greys or greens it would make it not so tedious. 7 hours, 314 kills, gg!

I have farmed these mobs for the past 4 days and collectively killed 455 of them. As of yet I have gotten no Khorium Boots plans. I even petitioned a GM to see if there was some kind of bug not letting it drop. He said I just had extremely bad luck and to keep trying. This is by far the worst drop rate, at least for me, out of the Khorium Ward set.

Took me about 80- 100 kills to get the drop. . . I also got about 8 or 10 greens that sold to a vendor quite well as well as an epic pattern : Unyielding Girdle. Farming it was well worth the time for me!

I spent about 3 hours killing protectors last night and didn't see this drop. It is a great location to farm netherweave though as I ended up with about 8 stacks by the time I was through. Hopefully it will drop tonight. There was an alliance warrior and an alliance pally farming as well for about an hour, so the plans may have dropped for them. Bad luck for me.

Ok this is starting to get sick.
I lvl from 69 - 70 by just killing those mobs, no drop.
Spend countless hours farming after lvl 70 with a flying mount to just kill the protectors, no drop.
Jeezzz its a blue plan not a epic.
If I say I killed 1000 Protectors its in the lower counts :(
Hope bitching here will help as I'm over the stage where you can blame bad luck.
No blue plan should be this hard to get.

Edit: After this post it dropped after 3 kills :) just prove that complaining works :)

Spent 1hr farming, took a break, went to Area 52 to smelt some ore and sell my vendor trash, went back, first kill dropped.

I wouldn't be surprised if the disembodied protectors shared spawns with the disembodied vindicators - but it seems like the protectors patrol more on the outskirts of the ruins rather than stand around inside it.

As such, it might be more beneficial to just kill everything in/around the ruins to get more protectors to spawn - and thus get this pattern to drop - or not, as the case may be. Just a hunch.

Maybe I was really lucky on this drop, I got it on my 4th or 5th protector kill while doing the quests You're Hired! and Mark V is Alive! in that area. Found this much more easily than the belt pattern.

If you do The Archmage's Staff before you start grinding on these mobs, the followup quest Rebuilding the Staff also wants you to kill these ghosts.

it took me about 225 loots until these dropped. pretty good respawn rate for the protectors. i also made about 600 gold off of loot and money that dropped while there.

I got it on my first kill and i had no clue it droped off those guys i was grinding out another quest....
But it took me 2 and 1/2 weeks to get my enchant from the Geomancers in BEM with my lock something like 5,031 kills before it droped!

I was extremely lucky when I looted it from 2nd protector. I was prepared for few hours of farming and it took me about one minute. :) It can happens in every case when you are going to farm low drop rate item. :) Love how much random wow is. :D

These boots are an exact match to the Hyperion set boots for those looking to transmog. Much easier than actually finding the original on the AH or grinding it out.

Just wanted to post to let everyone know to keep farming. I got these today 5/9/2012 - patch 4.3.4. Took me 83 Protectors (along with 81 Vindicators and 15 Exarchs) for the pattern to drop.

I got all 3 plans in less than 2 hours. The belt plans was the first to drop in Nagrand after the second kill of a Murkblood Raiders. The pants plans was second in Shadowmoon valley after about the 6-8 kill of Deathforge Guardians. The boots plans dropped in Nether Storm after about the 10th Disembodied Protector kill.

While I was lucky and had this drop within an hour's time, I would like to confirm that this will drop even if you cannot immediately learn it.

My blacksmithing was only 325 on my level 67 character, so skill / character level should not affect drop chance.

Good luck to all going for this recipe.

Took me approx 2 hours - killing all mobs in the area (to maximise respawn rate).

My blacksmith is a druid - which is a massive help.

Using swift flight form (and a dismount key binding I added) enabled instant flight., instant dismount, and 1 hit kills.
So it sped the whole process up, and avoids competition from others.

I wanted this recipe to make the boots as a transmog item.

Today's Fun was to go Farming for more Plans for my Blacksmiths. Having spent several days in Netherstorm already, this Plan seemed like a good one to start with. After checking WoWhead (where else?) for what dropped it, I headed over to the Ruins of Enkaat.

After reading through all of the comments, it appeared that getting this Plan would be the usual Grind. Comments ranged from the usual "I loottz it First Killz Lulz hhahahahha" to "OMG 4days of farming 1000 kills haven't eaten fingers numb!" Several commentators advocated killing Everything in the Ruins, the idea being that the Disembodied Protectors shared spawn points with the other Undead Draenei haunting the area, while others suggested concentrating just on the Protectors that were roaming about. So I decided to test both issues.

Using a Lvl98 Warrior, Max Blacksmithing for Vanilla/Outland/Northrend/Cataclysm/Pandaria, concentrating just on Protectors, starting doing circles in the wreckage. I picked 2 spots where only Vindicators where standing, 2 spots where there was a pair (1 Vindicator and 1 Protector) and 3 buildings where Protectors had spawned as controls, killing anything that spawned in those areas. Everywhere else, I killed only Protectors.

After about 2 hours, the results:

43 Vindicators, 162 Protectors killed. As expected, a decent grind. The Plans finally dropped off the 162nd Protector I downed. Every place where I killed a pair (Vindicator/Protector) it would 95%+ respawn the same pair. Everywhere that I killed a Protector, 95%+ respawn was a Protector. Practically every Vindicator I killed respawned as a Vindicator. There were -exceptions-. Several times a Protector did respawn as a Vindicator, or vice versa. The pair by the shattered fountain in the main square, close to the Goblin Questgiver, would be an example. Several times there were 2 Vindicators, that when killed, respawned as a Vindicator and a Protector. I did NOT kill any Exarchs. However, I did observe several other people on the Escort Quests there, who killed Exarchs close to them, and they respawned as Exarchs.

Conclusion? Drop rate for the Plans is Standard RNG. Put the coffee pot on, get a bag of chips, get comfortable, you might be 3 minutes or 3 hours. Concentrate on the Protectors that have already Spawned, by the time you make one lap around the ruins, they will have respawned at the previous kill locations, or are just about to. No need to kill everything unless you need Netherweave cloth or get bored. Take a quick break when other Questors enter the area, they will thank you for it. Good luck, fellow Completionists.
