Just dropped for us in Shattered Halls, off the ogre boss. There are a lot of rumors going around that you need a smith in the group for it to drop, but I can tell you they are false.

The skill itself come 2.1 will now give you the same plans, but the associated costs have been SUBSTANTIALLY increased.

You will now need 10 Khorium Bars and 4 MORE Primal Nethers.

It's one thing to make these items harder to acquire due to the fact that their quality matches if not exceeds many epic items... but the expenditures added onto this are just a bit absurd.

This change will cause a tremendous degree of difficulty to craft, let alone sell these items for the cost of crafting it.

It is correct that you do NOT have to have a Blacksmith in your party in order for this pattern to drop.

Some alliance were killing the bird people out in Blades Edge Mountains so I decided to move on to the next part of my quest. First bird I killed, dropped these. O.o. I was stunned. Gonna go see how much I can sell them for.

With the upcoming Transmogrification system in 4.3, these plans and the swords they make are going to be worth quite a bit more once the patch hits. Prices for the plans have skyrocketed on many servers and I imagine people who have learned these plans are going to make some pretty decent gold.

Deciding to Farm Kurenai, Sporegar, Shatari Skyguard, and Netherwing rep while trying for these plans, so far unsuccessful, but nearly exhaulted with one so far (only a day)... figured might as well do something productive while farming rare plans that may not ever drop for me ;-P

I've been running Outland heroics and raids since I could solo them, and I've never seen these plans drop. On my server, there was only one person with his pattern. So yes, it's a pretty rare sight.
I saw it a few days ago on the AH, though, and snagged it for the 15K buyout. So happy :) The sword looks very good.

been after this for ages on my dk blacksmith, not only is it a decent weapon for it's level, but it looks amazing as a transmog weapon. hope it drops for me soon, b/c farming in outlands is a bit tedious. :(

Just dropped from a Sister of Pain in BT while solo and not a blacksmith. I'm on Drenden Alliance. I will be leveling blacksmith on an alt to learn this pattern. I should be crafting these in a week from now.

I saw this and thought this is my next project for some farming.

Then I thought "hmmm, I wonder if that old Warrior I never use could farm it, he's a BS". So I logged him on, upgraded his gear on AH then thought I would check if there were any plans on there he could use. Low and behold there was this one, priced at a cool 138k! Then I scrolled over it and saw;

The following Blacksmithing weapons are said to have recipes in Coilskar Chest . The drop rate for these items are frustratingly small. So small it might not be worth the time for farm here. Instead, allow me to suggest BC Raids and Heroic Dungeons. It also seems to have an increased drop rate from rare elites in the BC areas. But, it is important to note that ALL BC mobs can potentially drop these plans.

Is there some new way to get these rare plans or has the drop rate increased or something? There is the person my server who seems to have 30+ of every single rare BC pattern and keeps posting them for 8800g. No matter how many i buy they keep popping up. something seems shady to me.

Hey all , if anyone is still farming this I got it to drop after a week of farming , I've been running the 4 outlands 5mans in Auchindoun, Had it drop in Sethekk Halls on Normal Mode. I have leveled blacksmithing to 65 as well, I can't tell if this helped or was needed but I have been farming this before without blacksmithing and never seen it drop.
