Got this beauty off of a Durnholde Rifleman in Caverns of Time: Old Hillsbrad Foothills. Not sure if that is the only place it drops, but that is where I got it from.

So, the drop rate is insanely low. Is that because it is BoP and will only drop if there is someone in the party who can use it? I hope so, because I don't feel like running OH 500 times to get this very nice pattern.

id say the drop rate is mediokre,Because wowhead mod also takes in the information of kills from people who wernt leatherworkers,im not saying it will drop 'every' run. but id probally say its drop rate is 5%...but you can get your uber cool Don Carlos hat along with this nice looking pimp hat,in the process of running OHB,its a fairly easy instance too,can be done in less than 30 mins with a decent group.

Until the screenshot is up, for those who are interested to know what it looks like, the hat itself is black with a solid white rim that has a sort of "fuzzy" look, and a zhevra striped crown, and shares the same model as the other Stylin' hats.

I was doing normal runs a few times without any luck, so I switched it to Herioc. In the first run I got this pattern.
Be sure you kill all the riflemen, mine was dropped by one of the patrolling.

I ran this for 2 days on heroic and got nothing. so i decided to run it once on regular and complete the quest for rep...low and behold, it dropped.

Got mine in one run, from a rifleman inside durnnholde keep upstairs, i think for LW's the rate is a bit higher, i got mine on my first run, last rifleman in the instance, but still the first run.

Just a note, this is NOT listed in the 'drops' tab for the Fusilier de Fort-de-Durn. And it's listed as a zone drop on the page you get if you just search on 'stylin'.

It appears to be world drop, just dropped in Sethekk Halls, which I was soloing as lvl85, from one of the trash mobs.

After approx 20 reg. runs through Durnholde over a few days, changed it to heroic and dropped off a Rifleman just now. Wanted to confirm this as a previous poster mentioned it as a world drop (same patch 5.0.4). I uploaded my data to wowheard, if more did the same ^^

While I agree that the droprate is reported artificially low for this item, I doubt it is as high as 5%. Firstly, consider that leatherworking is a fairly common profession - as a guess I'd say two out of every three pugs have one, and this is usually done with pugs. That would suggest a droprate around 1%, not 5%.

Also: There are about 20 Durnholde Rifleman in the instance (plus or minus a couple depending on specific spawns), which means if the "actual" droprate was about 5%, then the chance of NOT getting it on a clean sweep would be about 36%. The chance of NOT getting it after ten runs (an experience multiple people have reported) would be about 0.0036% - that is to say, about one farmer in thirty thousand would have such rotten luck. By comparison, only eight thousand or so clean sweeps have been uploaded to the database as I write this (162k drop reports for the mob) - not enough to explain multiple people having one-in-thirty-thousand type luck.

Running the same numbers, assuming a drop rate of 1%, the chance of NOT getting it on a clean sweep jumps to 81.8% - which raises the odds of NOT getting it after ten runs to 13%, which is downright frequent - about one in eight farmers would have such rotten luck. The odds of not getting it after twenty runs is still about 2%, which is totally believable.

For my money, it's a 1% drop rate.

Don't overlook these Durnholde Riflemen when you're running regular Old Hillsbrad:

2 patrol around the inside perimeter of the wall around the keep.
1 is outside the tower to the left of the entrance to keep.
1 is upstairs in the keep.
2 are in the bunk room on the ground floor of the keep.

When farming for this hat pattern or any of the 4 stylin' hats don't get discouraged by the drop rates listed, I decided I wanted these and got them all with in 2 hours of farming, I got the pattern for Stylin' Purple hat on the first try, The jungle hat on the second try, the adventure hat on the second try and the crimson on the 4th or 5th try. The hardest thing to farm for these hats are the Cobra Scales as you require skinning and the fragments drop off select mobs with low spawn rate and a 10% drop rate, you will need 10 cobra scale fragments in order to create one scale. As these cobra scales are not used for many recipes they a not often seen in the AH and when they are they are very expensive, spent 2 hours last night farming ended up with 20 fragments.

got it on my 5th run of the place, might have got lucky. just run in, use your mount n run to the area (dont fly im pretty sure it takes longer) where all the riflemen are, should prolly kill don carlos on the way, kill all the riflemen, run back out of the dungeon. reset your instances, run back in. rinse and repeat.

It does drop in 7.0. Took about 30 runs. 29 on regular and it dropped on the 30 run(Heroic). Additonally, I got 2 rare JC recipes before I got this one. Sounds like some bad luck for me. :)

I got lucky. I happened to mention in guild chat, "I hope this pattern drops".. I was originally going for Don Carlos quest from Tanaris and I had run this maybe 2 or 3 times just for the pattern on previous attempts. Killed Don, and only got his hat to drop. went in (as a druid, tracking humanoids and just killed them all. I cleared the top around the wall after entering archway.. dropped down to furthest bunker to open Barrels. On way towards other bunkers, pattern dropped off the mobs under the bridge. I was stoked!. I only have that this pattern and Jungle hat as of now.. still farming the others!

This crafted item is much sort after on Auction house, selling at present 25k, requires some farming of primal Life and Cobra scales but well worth the time as transmogs are snapping them up.

Just an FYI for anyone farming this. I ran Normal Old Hillsbrad ten times and did not have this drop. I got tired of it and decided to switch to Heroic and it dropped right away off the 3rd Riflemen I killed.

Still dropping. Took me 231 kills on normal and 19 kills on heroic (about 4-5 days of farming 10 instances a day). Finally got it on a normal run off the rifle mob.

I Killed 478 of them, got mad, went to outlands learned outlands leather working, went back to the instance, got the outlands leatherworking to 20, then killed 4 more and it dropped! Sooo outlands leatherworking needed for it to drop? just saying.

While working on Outland Leatherworking, it was recommended to use to Grind out the last 4 levels, it being the cheapest pattern to use for those nails-on-blackboard final points that are a resource-sink for any Completionist. That pattern, however, could only be purchased from Alurmi in Caverns of Time, which required Honored with Keepers of Time.

Fabulous. Another Rep Grind to get a Pattern. Off I go to the Caverns, which sent me to Old Hillsbrad, there to gain Reputation. Having never been to OH, I researched the instance, and found that The Stylin' Adventure Hat pattern could be found there as well, which I didn't have. However, several of the Comments contradicted each other, some commentators saying one thing, their Comment being denied by another, etc etc.

So I decided to do some testing while Farming the Riflemen and clearing Durnholde Keep for Reputation. The Results:

1. Reputation gains do Not stop at Friendly. Running the Instance on Normal continued to add Reputation into Revered. Heroic OH simply added more Rep per kill. Likely it will work into Exalted.

2. Riding the Dragon Brazen to the Keep versus a Mount: not an appreciable difference in time. Ride the Drake in and enjoy the view. Remember to grab your pack of incendiary bombs from Erozion each time so Brazen will carry you. Otherwise, he will chastise you about "wasting Time".

3. The number of Riflemen varies from 17 to 24. They seem to spawn anywhere. Average is 20. To Farm faster/easier I simply killed everything in the Keep then exited OH, reset, rinse-repeat.

4. A Full-clear of the Keep, starting while mounted Outside the Instance, ending on Exiting the Instance, took 10-12 minutes for a level 90 Warrior with good gear, no speed boosts, Leatherworking Lvl 65.

5. Killing all the mobs in the Keep gains Reputation, vendor junk, Greens, materials, & gold. I cleared OH Normal 20 times, reached Honored with KoT, made several hundred gold in drops/trash, over *90 Greens, & a small pile of materials. Rolled in on my mount, ran over the locals, got big groups to follow me, ducked around a corner and jumped into the middle when they got there. 20 Full clears gave a pile of stuff and the Reputation I needed but no Pattern.

6. I did NOT kill Don Carlos in 19 Clears, due to Comments about Saving to the Instance if he was killed. On Run #20 Normal, I decided to test this as I had what I needed to get Pattern: Drums of Panic. The Stylin' Adventure Hat could wait. I did, however, have the so I decided to see what would happen. He's a solid fight, and after downing him I received . This did NOT cause me to be saved to the Instance... I was able to reset it. I only received the Hat, not the Toy, which is listed as only dropping on Heroic.

7. In 20 runs on Normal I killed 382 Riflemen, Don Carlos 1 time. No Pattern. So I decided to switch to Heroic and kill up to 400 Riflemen. On Heroic #21 dropped, and I was 1 short of 400 kills, so I reset for Heroic #22. On kill 407, dropped.

8. Having all I needed for Reputation and the Pattern, I decided to go after Don Carlos again, testing for a Lockout and trying for the Toy. The moment he went down, I received the message "You are now saved to this Instance". So on Heroic, killing Don Carlos does indeed prevent you from resetting the Instance, even if the Bosses are still up.

9. End conclusion: Clear Durnholde Keep OH on Heroic until the Pattern drops, as it seems to drop more often on Heroic. Then get the Quest to beat up Don Carlos for his Hat, and try for the Toy.

So, based on the 0.5% drop rate shown here, I figured I'd get this within just a few runs. I ran this 7 or 8 times on normal, nothing. Then I ran it on heroic mode and got the pattern on the very first rifleman I downed. I'd say the other comments are correct: heroic mode seems to have a much greater chance of dropping this item.

I got it from Fusilier de Fort-de-Durn after 133 kills on heroic difficulty, so it seems that this pattern have truly around 1% chance to drop.
You can simply farm it on heroic, just do not kill any boss (neither Don Carlos).
Kill every NPC in the stronghold, run out of the instance and then reset it.

If you're farming this, a quick way out of the instance is to make a private custom group in the LFG tool and then leave group. You'll have about 60 seconds to finish up so leave group a bit early as you defeat the last couple of riflemen. It's also a good rep farm if you need rep.
Plaques de sabots de pas léger can help cut down on the journey slightly, if you aren't a paladin or deathknight.
