This does not have a shared cooldown with Oshu'gun relic (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=25634), meaning you can use them both at the same time for a combined 450 +healing for 15 seconds.

It's a shame they put back the shared cooldown because I was able to get 2.5k +healing Earth Shields off with this baby + another trinket + orc racial. Still a great trinket for resto Shaman in PVE.

This is an excellent healer trinket that is easy to get, and that you may not replace for some time into raiding.

A direct upgrade is Warp-Scarab Brooch (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27828), from the end boss of heroic Mana Tombs, but that requires a good group to reliably clear.

As a paladin currently specced protection who doesn't raid, I'm agonizing over this trinket. It's the only quest reward trinket with at least 10 mana/5 on it (the rest are all boss drops.) I know the shoulders are "better" for a protadin. But dang, it sure will be hard to find a better healing trinket for those times when I'm called on to heal rather than tank.

Nevertheless, I took the shoulders rather than this sweet trinket. As Wikwocket pointed out, this can be replaced with the Warp-Scarab Brooch without having a raiding guild at my disposal. The shoulders can not be replaced.

Bottom line for Paladins: Unless you are in a raiding guild, or you are certain that you will only ever want to be a healadin, I would pass up this trinket and take the shoulders.
