Does anyone else find it odd that this is an orange gem when spell damage is a red stat, and spell penetration is a blue one? Logically I'd expect this to be purple.

Unfortunately, that means this is competing for the red/yellow sockets, along with everything else casters use (spell hit and crit are both yellow stats). I guess that leaves the Radiant Crysoprase (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30608) for the blue socket.

Now that they are no longer unique, I went a bit nuts and used these gems on my warlock (27/34/0). Good times :)

An interesting gem. Could be useful for PvP Warlocks looking to gem offensively, and need to fill yellow slots for their meta requirement. Spell Penetration is always useful for fighting both Warlock and Hunter pets, and can be useful in the case a player has any resistance.
