click on the sizzling ember to create your ember "buddy". let him follow you around while you kill fel sparks. once he turns green, run back through the gateway to destroy it and cash in the quest.

Also, the living flare can be brought outside the Throne of Kil'jaeden zone. But you cannot summon it outside of the throne.
Could be a pretty cool noncombat pet.

If you are near someone when they kill the Incandescent Fel Spark while you have your flare out, it will buff your flare up as well.
You don't have to attack or be in their group either, also don't get on flying mount and fly to far or it will pop away and you have to start over again.

Beware when using your trinkets. When you use the Living Ruby Serpent, it despawns the Living Flare.
