Picked up my pattern within about 50 kills off the Gundrak Savages. This pattern is perfect for leveling up your blacksmithing, relatively easy to get ( Got mine at 74 as a paladin), low material cost, high yellow rank at 410. Only better on is the Reinfored Cobalt Chestpiece that drops off the Venture Co. Excavators in Sholazar Basin since it yellows out at 415 with the same materials needed.

Got amazingly lucky just comming from Grizzly hills getting the plans for the Reinforced Cobalt Helm. Got it on my first kill from a savage walking up to Gundrak from the stairs.

Took me between 10 to 15 kills killing only, killing gundrak savages. it's an easy, quite good plan for BS!

Just want to pass on an apparent stealth buff to the drop rate of the reinforced cobalt patterns. I’ve been farming missing recipes on my alts (passing the time until Mists) and today was my blacksmith’s day. I got the helm, legs and chest patterns in less than 20 kills each, and the helm actually only took 9 kills. Get to farming in case Blizz reverts back to the old drop rates! :D

This dropped for me today, 6/19/2012 - patch 4.3.4.

The pattern drops from Gundrak Savages in the northeastern part of Zul'drak. The savages are in several locations around the northeastern part. They are in the ring surrounding the two Brutes battling. They are sometimes guarding staircases. Sometimes they patrol along with a Fire-eater. There are quite a few of them around, but they can be somewhat spread out. To be honest, I wasn't killing them for long enough to get a good count of spawns or to identify whether or not they shared spawn points with other mobs.

It took me 5 kills on my first blacksmith for the pattern to drop, and 8 kills on my second blacksmith. Talk of the stealth buff to the drop rate for the pattern might hold some water. My experience with the other patterns in the reinforced cobalt set does not suggest that the buff would have been applied to all the patterns.

There are six spawn points in a circle around the pair of Brutes battling (75,33) that can spawn either Gundrak Savages or Gundrak Fire-eaters. So, if you kill the Fire-Eaters there, Savages may respawn in those spots.

RNG was not in my favour for this pattern, so I killed enough of these Savages to learn that there is a maximum of 17 mobs.

If you start with the circle of six surrounding the two Brutes, you will only get around 1-3 that will be Savages.

There are 4 pats that will be paired with a Fire-Eater: There is one that pats around the sunken road just before the demi-god Akali; one that makes a circuit around each of the altars/ziggurats that are on either side of the sunken road, and one lone pat that runs along the road that sits between Altar of Mam'toth and Zol'Maz Stronghold.

There are 5 pairs of savage that stand by stair cases. One pair at the top of the sunken road, two sets on either side of the sunken road (they guard staircases that lead to the aforementioned altar/ziggurats) and a pair on either side of the main temple of Gundrak.

i can confirm it still drops from the Sauvage de Gundrak ,took me about 20 mins though with all of them spread around and 'slightly' long respawn :p
