As the quest requires Engineering items to complete my guess is the "requirement" to start it is that you're an Engineer.

This dropped from my first kill. I have 427 Engineering. I guess the low droprate that is listed is because only engineers get it.

450 Engineer, dropped off of first kill of a library guardian. I am assuming that the low drop rate is just due to the item only showing for engineers of sufficient skill.

it dropped first kill, but i belive it takes grand master engeneering to drop, as i have had engeneering for a while, and it only dropped (First time) after i reached this rank

this item has 0% (totally zero, like NEVER) drop rate for non-engineers

and 100% or almost for engineers

FOR GOD SAKE i got it from the first library guardian i killed !

that OFFICIAL DROP RATE HERE ON WOWHEAD is a HUGE MISLEAD for engineers who may not go to farm it be cause they don't think they have a chance

Requires level 400 Engineering to drop.

100% Drop Rate off Library Guardians.

Its one of the best ways to level engineering 400-415. On my server its about 15G per scrapbot.

Went out today to kill Library Guardians and got the card on my first kill and the Jeeves schematic within the first 50 kills. I feel pretty lucky :)

OK maybe i am missing someting, but how do i get this card to start the quest? I just farmed the library guardians to get Jeeves and i killed over 300 of them, got jeeves, but never saw this drop, now i can't make jeeves without doing this quest. Any Ideas? Did something change?

Edit: found put that i had it in my bank from about a year ago :) so if you are not getting it, check your bank in case you already have it.

Drops off of any Library guardian, but you NEED to have your engineering at 400+ or it won't drop. Also, your engineering needs to be at least 395 in order to loot library guardians with engineering skill (which also drop Jeeves plans).

Also, make certain you bring 4 handfulls of copper bolts with you (probably not a problem as the guardians all drop them) and 5 overcharge capacitors so you can turn in the quest right away.

Not sure if I am just lucky or if blizz upped the drop rate but on my lvl 82 Eng i killed 1 Guardian and the card dropped.

This is most likely 100% drop chance. I killed 3 "Library Guadrian" And in the loot it was 3 of theese. Probably just need engineering for it to be 100% drop chance.

This is no longer dropped by Library Guardians. The schematic for the scrapbot can be retrieved by completing the quest at the console at 37.53, 46.81.

Edit: This is only true for first-time engineers.

It seems this quest item drop is highly dependent on your engineering skill.

I had 397 engineering skill, and I was killing these for the quest item, I probably killed 200-300 of them and got nothing.
I decided that since this was going to take a while, I might as well go bring my engineering up high enough so I can engineer them for additional mats, I came back with 425 engineering and pulled a group of 5, when I looted there were 5 cards in the loot window.

I guess since the recipe requires 415, 415 is the required level for the quest item drop

You will need to be a level 400+ engineer before you even consider getting this. Once you are 400+, make/buy 4 x and 5 x (you will need them for the quest) and go to the area around 38.06, 43.33 and kill a , they are level 79 with just over 5.4K health, easy kills. They will drop a . Take that to 37.69, 46.53 and turn it in (the entrance is at the top of the steps in this area). Complete the quest by going to the nearby console at 37.55, 46.82 as instructed and you will learn the recipe. Note, you will not get anything in your bags. The recipe to create the scrapbot will simply be added to your engineering recipe list.

This is useful for levelling your engineering up fairly cheaply, but hold on to them as you can vendor to them while out farming, or pull one out in a raid for repairs and you will be loved by all.

This became 100% drop after I level up my Northrend Engineering to 50+, I guess that's what you have to do, consider the recent changes to profession leveling.
