As many of you will notice alot of comments are down rated. This item is more or less a world drop and can drop from anything that fits within a certain level range or meets the requirement. Thottbot type comments like "This dropped for me off of _______" need to stay just that Thottbot comments. At the present time Post 3.0.2/Pre WotLK, these boxes have no means of being opened. Once the expansion hits rogues will be able to open them and engineers should be able to craft some sort of charge to open them as well.

Just to clarify for people that don't understand, NOBODY CARES WHERE YOU GOT THE BOX TO DROP.

You need level 75 to be able to even train your lockpicking to open this, at current state(level 70) your lockpicking is 350, and by gaining one level you add +5 to your lockpicking skill, so you need 25 levels you need level 75 to get that :)

I just had one of these drop (yeah yeah) from Outland mobs. It seems they can drop from ANY mob 71+ anywhere.

as someone mentioned above, they can drop off of ANY 70 mob. when my guild was running black temple, at lvl 80, one of these actually dropped off of a trash mob. and i got it :D

This dropped for me in blades edge mountains, so you do NOT have to be in northrend to get one of these.

There's a notable point about these that keeps getting pushed aside and downrated:

They drop in Outland, from level 70+ mobs.

They contain gear that drops in Northrend.

That means you can find Wrath gear in BC zones.

I don't recall any other crossover gear like that (finding gear from one expansion in the zone of another).

Just a heads-up when you're running Black Temple or whatever, not everything in there is from BC, and some of the stuff may actually be useful for early Northrend leveling. Frankly I don't remember seeing it happen anywhere other than BT, so it may be unique /shrug

Bug after Shadowlands level squash : claims that the level 47 is too low to open one of these after it's been unlocked.
