The on use effect of this item causes an animation of your character flipping a coin in the air, and generates two chat emotes.

Bokashi casually flips his Titanium Seal of Dalaran.

and then when you catch the coin it will randomly emote one of the following:
Bokashi finds the coin face down for tails!
or
Bokashi catches the coin heads up!

Basically it's a neater/more stylish way of doing /random 2 with a 10 second cooldown. Definitely a cool little addition to the game!

Just to confirm what Phlecks has said above me, I too completed 'The Coin Master' and I've received about 12 coins it seems I get one or two every two hours... I contacted a GM about this and it seems this is a known problem that lots of people are experiencing with these types of achievments where they receive items in the mail from completing them. They are apparently working on fixing this problem.

(Hopefully soon as my mail box is getting rather full...)

Just a small side note, when you're trying to achieve this one don't bother throwing in more than 1 gold coin at a time, it won't make the timer on the buff go up to 4 minutes, it just stays at 2. ^_^

I personally checked this item on Wowhead to see if this was a one-time use item or not. It made sense to me that it would be infinite uses, after spending 5 hours getting it, but I wanted to make sure before I tossed it!

So, if anyone came here with that same question... It has an infinite amount of uses, so use it all you want! :)

This DOES vendor for 1s 25c rather then "The merchant doesn't want that item" like I personally think it should be. So if your getting mailed more then one, it would be wise to stash one in the bank in case one day you vendor by mistake.

as a druid in epic flight form, i can flip this while flying (breaks me into caster form), but if i go back to flight form and carry on flying, i don't catch the coin for heads or tails

then randomly about 3 minutes later i caught the coin while fighting some mobs, i i think the coin works like a volley where it has to travel to you to cause the emote

I recently got this item and was debating wether to vendor it or not.
I ended up creating hours of entertainment for myself by creating a macro to go in conjuction with my fishing.
The item doesn't trigger a global cooldown so it can be used at the same time as any other action.
I my case I used it with fishing.

If you flip it while standing on the terminal that Brann uses in the Halls of Stone event, it takes up to 7 seconds to land when it normally takes 2-3 seconds.

As of 3.1, the coin now has it's own model. Previously it was a gold-colored crystal model (looked like a coin from a distance) but now it's actually a coin.

This coin seems to defy gravity when used on a boat...

When I use it while standing on a boat the coin continues to fly upwards indefinetly, and the emote never writes that you catch it heads or tails up.

Can anyone confirm this?

A couple days ago, a member of our Ulduar raid flipped his coin and the game said something similar to:

"So and so catches the coin on its side!"

So, I guess it can land 3 different ways. I've been trying to catch mine like this, as well as a few other members of our raid and none of us have managed to do it. This must be incredibly rare, especially considering there are currently 50 comments on this topic and I did not see one mention this.

I was slightly elated to receive the coin, that is too say i was VERY VERY happy to not have to fish coins again. I can think of a few things I would have greatly appreciated as a reward instead of another coin. Like a non-combat pet, goldfish in bowl on wheels with a string comes to mind. The darn thing is still in my bank, taking up room as so does many other items like this.

i have noticed during a raid i ran through bunch of people, flipped the coin and some one in the raid caught the coin, instead of me. happened several times

seemed entirely random who caught it, not affected by who is targeted.

If you want this Achivement or the coin and are still low level Fishing its a great way to level up i leveled one of my charaters fishing from 245 to 430 only by fishing for coins (toke me about 16 hours to get all the coins)

Do you want to impress all your friends with you ability to predict the outcome of this coin flip? Well you can't, but here is a sneaky way to give the impression that you can! You don't even need the coin!

If you don't have the coin generate a link to this item in WoW using the red "Link" button at the top right of the page.

Make this macro:
/e casually flips his/her
Make a space after the word "his" or "her" leave your cursor there and the macro open by hitting Escape.
Now enter this in your chat frame but don't hit enter yet:
/script MacroFrameText:Insert("")
Click between the " " and shift click the Coin's link then hit enter.
This should add to your macro after his/her

After that macro is done make two others, one for heads and one for tails:
/e catches the coin heads up! and
/e finds the coin face down for tails!
I think you can figure out what to do from here. Congrats you are now psychic! Make sure you wait 3 seconds to "catch" the coin.

If anyone is curious, I tossed the coin a few times and found it heads 52 times and tails 53 times. Since no one has really reported this coin as being crazily off, I assumed a uniform prior probability for p of .

Then 69.6% of the density is between p = 0.45 and p = 0.55. This means the likelihood that the coin is in fact fair (p is between 0.45 and 0.55) is about 2.3 times more likely than the likelihood that the coin is biased (p is not in this range). Actually the uniform prior assumption really doesn't even matter since the number of times the coin was flipped was reasonably large.

So if you're going to make some life-changing decision based on the coin, and are curious whether it's really unbiased, the result is that it appears to be unbiased with reasonable certainty, to within +-5%.

Not surprising at all, but just wanted to check.

It is possible to "miss" catching the coin (generating no emote on landing). If is also possible for someone else to catch the coin for you, meaning that the heads/tails emote is sent by them instead of you. It might be worth testing to see if an opposing faction member can catch it, and if so what emote you see on a pvp realm.

Ironically you can imitate this almost flawlessly without carrying or even owning the coin.

Is there any way to re-obtain this coin? I have the ach, so obviously I should have the coin somewhere too. But I don't. It's completely lost, gone, disappeared.

I hardly ever use it, but just today I actually 'needed' to toss a coin ingame to decide what I wanted to do, but coin was gone.

You can safely delete this if it is taking up room in your inventory that you wish to free up. Jepetto Joybuzz in Dalaran will give you another one for free if you lose it or delete it and change your mind.

Doesn't appear that you can get this coin again on a different character even if you earn the achievements again as meta can only be earned once now in MoP. Going directly to Jepetto Joybuzz and he still won't give it to you (as you could do if you lost it)

I recently opened a ticket when I did not receive this (already had on other toons) and was told by the GM that this item will be a toy box item in the upcoming Warlords of Draenor release, and will be available to all your toons on your account. Not shabby.

This item is automatically added to your toy tab upon logging in with someone who earned it. My main is the only one I had gotten it on, but I trashed it because of bag space issues. Loading into the beta, I found that I had it already learned.

Dalaran was my favorite city in the game's history, did everything in that place (arcane books, fishing coins, etc). This coin is my trophy from Wrath.

I completed the achievement for this toy early in the morning and never got the mail containing it. It wasn't until a good 10 hours later when I logged into an alt that All the Things told me it had been added to my collection. Still no mail on my main, either.

Took me around 3 and a half hours to get all three achievements. Around the two hour mark I completed the Silver collection and not too long after that I just had one gold and one copper to find. An hour later I found the last copper coin and about half an hour after that the last gold. There was an odd period in the first hour where no gold coins dropped for about 25mins. Other times when I ran out one appeared fairly soon after to keep the luck streak going. You want to max out the number of casts you do within those 2min buff periods but be careful not to recast too soon after auto looting. I lost a gold coin because I cast as soon as the loot box appeared on the screen but before it had a chance to go into my bags.

I don't know if it helps at all but my Northrend fishing skill is maxed out and I used the Dragon Fishing Pole for the +13 Fishing Skill. There's a vendor right next to the fountain so you can buy Bright Baubles and every so often she has Aquadynamic Fish Attractors in stock in limited amounts. Again I don't know if it helps with the drop rate but they are cheap and take seconds to apply so doesn't hurt to try. Throwing the gold coins in for the buff definitely makes a difference.
