If it's anything like Jom Gabbar out of AQ40 it's going to look like this:

0-2 sec: 105 additonal spellpower.
2-4 sec: 210 additonal spellpower.
4-6 sec: 315 additonal spellpower.
6-8 sec: 420 additonal spellpower.
8-10 sec: 525 additonal spellpower.
10-12 sec: 630 additonal spellpower.
12-14 sec: 735 additonal spellpower.
14-16 sec: 840 additonal spellpower.
16-18 sec: 945 additonal spellpower.
18-20 sec: 1050 additonal spellpower.
20 sec reached: 0 additonal spellpower.

I just hope it's something like 1 minute internal cooldown instead of 2 minutes (like the JG.)

Assuming you are super lucky an you refresh your proc exactly as the internal CD expires, this proc effect will be worth ~340 spellpower. But as wowhead states the proc rate is 10% (kinna low imo, was hoping for more in the 30-40% range), one can assume you will on average benefit by 280-300 sp out of this trinket, (Closer to 300 by my math), in addition to the 155 haste.

How come Rawr v2.3.1 on arcane mages gives it a score of 301 which is absolute rubbish!

Is it not similiar to the Fetish from totc which was rubbish as well.

All this theory-crafting, and no one has questioned from what foul and dark locale of Rotface this "foriegn object" was dislodged from? Personally I shudder to think about equipping it without asbestos gloves and a gallon of bleach.

To anyone who's wondering why this is so low rated in RAWR:

In RAWR, you can see that there only reads 155 haste, not the proc. It doesnt calculate the SP bonus from it, thats why it says that even sundial of exiled would be better.

I manually added the proc to the item in rawr and it now says that it's BiS for me (arcane mage), even better than Reign of Dead HC.

I just received this on our first kill of Rotface.

From testing on a dummy:
Internal cooldown seems to be 45 sec.
Proc rate must be around 30-40%.

I got this last night on my warlock, and have done some quick testing:

When the trinket procs, it gives you a buff, Surge of Power, that lasts for 20 seconds and then a second buff, Surging Power, that stacks the SP bonus. You can click off Surging Power and it will start to stack again but from 0 SP (ie if you click it off at 4 stacks it will only stack to 6 by the end of the 20 second duration). If you click off Surge of Power you lose your Surging Power stacks and Surging Power will not stack until next proc. Why one would click it off I do not know, but it's fun to know.

I also tested how the buff procs:

Procs just like you would expect off of direct damage spells
Does not proc of DOT ticks, but will proc off of the casting of the DOT itself
Procs off the casting of a channeling spell, but not from the ticks
Procs from Life Tap
Procs off of Hellfire cast, but not Hellfire ticks
Procs off of Rain of Fire tics (I think the cast too)
Procs off of SoC cast but not the AoE burst
Procs off of Shadowfury

Some of that is a bit obvious, but others not so much. I tested it all on the training dummies, more testing would probably be needed to 100% check everything, but I did it long enough to be reasonably sure of my conclusions. All in all a great trinket, and a big upgrade from my well-used Scale of Fates.

Some napkin math for anyone who wants an idea of how good this trinket is:

Average spell power over the 20 seconds it is active = 577.5 ((105+210+...+1050)/10).
45 second ICD with a 10-40% proc rate (unknown atm) means this will proc every 50-65 seconds (with a 2 second cast time average).
This means with a 20 second duration, it has about a 30.8%-40% uptime which results in a 177.7-231 spell power average all the time.

These numbers mean that with a 10% proc rate, the proc is about equivalent to Muradin's Spyglass and at a 40% proc it is much better than the Spyglass.

All in all, this is probably BiS for any Mage (other than FFB maybe) in both heroic and non-heroic versions.

Word of caution for Elemental Shamans, this thing can proc when you place Healing Stream totem down so be careful when setting up your totems before a fight or you might set off the internal CD by accident.

By my calculation the proc is worth 231 sp (266 on heroic version).

The way i calculated it (correct me if im wrong):

I expect it to be up every 50 sec (45 sec icd and 5 sec to proc it).

Then i took every lvl (102, 210, 315 ....) and devided på 25 (2 sec each "lvl" and 50sec cd) and then added them all together.

Using the latest build of simcraft I am getting the following values for a 0/13/58 destruction warlock.

Dynamic Buffs
dislodged_foreign_object 5.7 0.0 55.5sec 55.5sec 37% 37%

This puts it at exactly (577.5*0.37) or 213.67 Spellpower. However this is using the 10% proc chance model.

If we increase to the projected 40% from other posts I have seen we get:

To do the math on this trinket proc, add up the 10 spellpower stacks and divide by ten. That is your average spellpower over 20 seconds, and you should get 577.5. Now round up to ~590 because this trinket starts off low, giving you time to pop arcane power. So do plug the trinket into rawr, just give it a 590 spellpower on damage spell cast, 20 sec uptime, and 10% on cast, 45 sec cd. Looking at the raw fight data from wow meter online, this trinket has roughly a 30% uptime, compared to a 24% uptime for the 10 second duration, 30% on cast, 45 sec cd procs like lightweave embroidery and Abyssmal Rune. For an arcane mage, the 264 item level version is best in slot, a 115 DPS improvement over heroic reign of the dead (for a 10750 Rawr DPS mage) and and 84 DPS upgrade over Heroic Spyglass.

A word of caution (though I no doubt expect several idiots to quickly down rate this even though they'd be wrong to do so)...

Kavan has written a bit about this trinket in a thread on Rawr's page on Codeplex. For those who don't know, Kavan handles the majority of the coding for the Mage model within Rawr. Currently, this trinket is being modeled as an average 577 spell power for 20 seconds. However, as Kavan himself has stated, this isn't accurate. You simply cannot "average" the spell power of this trinket. Here's why:

Let's assume you pop Combustion immediately when this trinket procs. Your three criticals gain 50% bonus critical strike damage. Your spell power for each critical increases as time goes on. Your first critical is gaining, let's say, 105 spell power. Your second critical strike is gaining 315-420 (depending on how fast you're casting and how lucky you are to get three crits in a row). Your third critical will have 420-525 spell power added to it. This is within the first 8-10 seconds of the trinket's proc.

Now you don't need Combustion to necessarily see the problem here, but it helps demonstrate it. Let's say you have 0% crit rate and Combustion is the only way you have to crit. Would you rather get three critical strikes when you have 105-525 spell power spread out amongst the three criticals, or would you rather have 630-1050 spell power for your three criticals?

Another person used Arcane Power as an example. You wouldn't use Arcane Power at the start of this trinket's proc, because at 15 seconds in, when you're at +840 spell power, Arcane Power has ended. Instead, you would pop Arcane Power 5 seconds into it so that you can gain the highest spell power. Why? Because it all multiplies.

Averaging the damage out to 577 means that no matter when you use Combustion or Arcane Power or whatever, the damage output is always the same, and that's clearly not the case. The actual value of the trinket is undoubtedly higher than what Rawr is able to calculate at the moment. However, in some cases, it may be too high.

Consider this: everyone is averaging the spell power of this trinket based on the range, from 0-105, to 210, to 315, and so on up to 1050:

(105+210+315+420+525+630+735+840+945+1050) / 10 = 577.5

However, take a fight like Icehowl where you're stunned periodically and then you have a window of opportunity to do 100% more damage. If Icehowl's knockback occurs 10 seconds after this trinket procs, then the range of spellpower that you're gaining from it is actually cut off at 525, and the 'average' spellpower gained is drastically reduced:

(105+210+315+420+525) / 5 = 315

Therefore, using 577.5 as an average would imply that even if you are unabled to cast for the last 10 seconds of the proc, you're still gaining an "average" of 577.5 spell power each second that the trinket's proc is up (and each second that you're DPSing). But this isn't true. The 'average' is a grossly inaccurate way to calculate the value of this trinket, simply because the value is measured per second versus other cooldowns and DPS time.

I just hate to see everyone 'averaging' everything in WoW ;-)

I got this last night on my demon lock and I personally cannot see a better use for this trinket.

Demonic Pact, which really should have an uptime very close to 100%, gives every caster dps and healer a fair share of the proc. The amount of passive sp per raid member isn't going to be high, but add it all together in a raid with eleven or more casters/healers and the value of the proc has more than doubled.

It's something to take in consideration, but don't give it to a demon lock unless he/she deserves it and let every player of every class have an equal chance of getting this trinket.

I like this idea, since with my current gear, this is the second best trinket in the game for my enhancement shaman behind the badge trinket. And I have a feeling some people wouldn't quite understand if I rolled on it. :)

People are saying you can't average the DPS value of the trinket, but I'm sure that the raw spellpower it grants alone can be integrated and then applied to the myriad of damage-increasing talents that (mages) have.

for example,

105 + 1S10 105x dx = 105 + (5250-52.5= 105 + 5197.5 = 5302.5 total spell power over 20 seconds, or 265.125 SP/second . If someone were to create an average integral for the total damage bonuses granted by talents and procs of other spells/abilities, I'm sure that multiplying this new variable by 5302.5 would grant us the average spell power gained!

(By the way, I'm not sure of how to write the integration symbol on a computer, so that reads 105 plus the integral of 105x from 1 to 10 with respect to x. Basically, it makes the buff move every second (because I can't think of a proper equation that models every other x value, i.e. 2 seconds), and calculates the total bonus granted! Easy.)

Warning: For any moonkins out there, this trinket may or may not place you FAR above the haste cap, in the realm of 860+! So unless your have another haste trinket that's easily replaceable you may want to look somewhere else >_>

I can see why some people don't like averaging for the various reasons posted above, but then this goes for any proc. True you could go the entire duration in some instances where this isn't useful at all (I've had it proc right before Sindragosa flys into her air phase)--any proc is this way.

That's why I always "prefer" a 100% uptime buff or raw stats, however ICC/RS did not make this the case with their trinkets. With that said, all procs have to be given an equal weight, but with DFO as slightly less (since you are more likely to miss out on the higher end portion of the buff).

Wanted 2 say you were exacly right about this trinket for moonkins soft cap and haste but i was still able to convince a moonking to sell this 2 my shadow priest for 5k a bargin imo and better for the raid as a whole.

Since this hasn't been addressed, this is quite amazing for pvp.

If you are defending a node in arathi for example, and 2 or even 3 enemies approach.. I just do a quick blizzard (it procs even when hitting no target), and about 75% of the time get this (and 2 other items I have) to proc on first blizzard. By the time they get to me at the flag I have almost 3500 to 4000 spell power. Living bombs on all targets, fight till low health, ice block... and 2 or 3 targets are decimated while I sit there and watch.

Probably an OP trinket but OH SO FUN.
