Very fluctuating prices on the AH even when it's the daily gem of choice.

Currently 24 gold on my realm.

Alternatives for those with tight profit margins :

Jasper Ring : disenchant

I just made 50 jasper rings - total cost 24g x 50 + 50 x 1g20s = 126g
Results after disenchanting all the rings : 75 x Hypnotic dust + 24 lesser celestial essences which turned in to 8 greater.

Total difference then is - Jasper AH sales = 50 x 24g = 1'200g

as opposed to 8 x greater celestial @ 74ea and 75 hypnotic @ 21g ea total = 2167g

You can do the math for yourself with your own current AH prices.

Strange that something with such a low drop rate is this cheap, I would of expected it to be 3-4 times the price.

prices for these dropped most of the time they are selling for under 4.5g each including on the jasper daily bought all the low priced jaspers off ah that were below 4g 40s and turned all of them and mine into jasper rings and vendored them not a huge profit but i lose no money and these can proc blues been saving them they sell for atleast 50g but i am saving might have enchanter d/e them gotten quite a few

Jasper, a form of chalcedony, is an opaque, impure variety of silica, usually red, yellow, brown or green in color; and rarely blue. This mineral breaks with a smooth surface, and is used for ornamentation or as a gemstone. It can be highly polished and is used for vases, seals, and at one time for snuff boxes. The name means "spotted or speckled stone" .

Green jasper was used to make bow drills in Mehrgarh between 4th-5th millennium BC. Jasper is known to have been a favorite gem in the ancient world; its name can be traced back in Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Assyrian, Greek and Latin. On Minoan Crete within present day Greece jasper was carved to produce seals circa 1800 BC based upon archaeological recoveries at the palace of Knossos.

I seriously wonder if Jasper has been removed from the game. I just mined every node in Twilight Highlands and Deepholm and not one Jasper dropped. I know the drop-rate is low (0.8) but to do all that mining and zero Jasper? Come on Blizzard - seriously?

From my mining I received:
