This quest returns a random gold reward, so far has been between 18 and 25 gold. There is a 1 day cooldown on creating the quest.

The details below were based off the assumption that there was no cooldown to create and that the reward was 10g.

This makes sure that the price of Blackfallow Ink will not drop below 3.17 gold each.

This also means that a stack of 5 new herbs Cinderbloom, Heartblossom, Stormvine or Azshara's Veil will not drop below 3.17 either. So a full stack of these herbs will go for at least 12.67 gold.

If a stack of these herbs is selling for less than 12.67 gold or they are selling for less than 64 silver each then any scribe should by these up immediately!

With the current price of herbs, it's unlikely that a scribe will ever make more money through these than he would have made by just selling the herbs, so these are not really a reliable source of income. However, this recipe goes green fairly late (522), and in addition it's one of the cheapest recipes in the game that's viable for leveling a profession and getting at least some return on your material investment. Bearing this in mind, it's a good way to level inscription slowly and cheaply rather than quickly and expensively if you're a cheapskate like myself (or if you just can't get to that twilight highlands vendor for the rare mats at the right times).

I am starting to feel like the amount of gold you get isn't random, but based off of who you turn the quest in to. Since I can only turn the quest in once a day I haven't had a lot of time to test this theory out, but it seems that when ever I turn the quest in to Ambassador Dawnsinger (she is a Blood Elf woman inside Grommash Hold, on the right as you enter) I get 22 gold and some change. Anyone else care to test this out and help prove me right or wrong?

The Facts:

This skill resets at 00:00 (MIDNIGHT) each day.

If you made this at 11pm it would show a 1hr CD.
If you made this at 1am it would show a 23hr CD.

It rewards gold in random amounts; i've seen it as low as 13g and as high as 26g.

What is it for?

After level 500 the cost of leveling Inscription becomes very high.

It requires you to use multiple Inferno Inks (100g+ each) to create worthless Fortitude Scrolls or a combination of Inferno Inks and Volatile Elements to create ilevel 316-346 blue equipment.

Either way it's a ton of gold to get those last few levels.

This is intended to the CHEAP way to level Inscription to 525.

If you have the time, lack the money or you're just a general tight ass then this is the way you level Inscription to maximum level with minimal costs.

This is a fairly painless way to skillup at the higher levels. Cooldown for me was eight hours, and the quest gave 23 gold and change (though I've heard it gives less sometimes).

edit to add: Many thanks to Paulus just above for supplying the info about the midnight rollover. That would fit with the eight hour cooldown I saw. I'll do other skillup attempts when I have the materials but it's nice knowing there is always this one basic skillup I can get each day.

For those of us who need the Alliance information and have navigated to this page instead of the Ally version, there are 3 NPCs to choose from in the Trade District alone, Auctioneer Chilton, Thomas Miller (mobile NPC), and Jelinek Sharpshear. There is also at least one in the Valley of Heroes and Old Town.

Strange, the 1st time I made one of these, it gave me a 5 minute cooldown, (at 7 PM server time). I did another one after the 5 minutes went by and it gave me the 24 hour cd.

Does this still reset at midnight, or is it just 24 hours from the time you create it?

Very strange, today it gave me a 1.5 hour cooldown (for midnight). Not sure what happened yesterday, but I like the possibility of making 4 of these in 2 days, hopefully it will bug more often ;-)

just turned in my 4th or 5th one on my 75 DK 20g1s25c was my payout. And yes, the CD resets at midnite realm time, tho a few days ago, the CD reset time was more random, the recent patch might've addressed that.

Received 89g on one occasion, however, did it for about a week and mostly got 19-25g. I imagine that it might be good for people trying to work on the money on the mind achievements.

it looks like you can no longer use this to get to 525. I have been using this and a combination of mats to reduce costs of leveling but I failed to gain a level when I used it at 520.

For those still tracking, turned it into Suja and recieved 17g for my troubles. Unless some of the blues are selling for a lot of gold on your servers, this is the nice, while not super quick way of leveling. FYI - this was on a level 75 lock, so I don't think level matters for amount of gold you may get

You can hand in this quest to any one of several NPCs, but the closest to the Orgrimmar Inscription vendor (where you'll probably be after buying the parchment for the recipe) is Suja.

For those who don't want to try every NPC, I can say that Suja (near the cooking trainer) consistently gives the most amount of gold. She's always given me 20+ gold so.. I stick with her :)

I've seen it stated that this cannot be learned post MoP. I just picked up inscription and leveled it on my druid about 2 weeks ago, and I have the ability to make forged documents. I have turned them in to Suja a couple of times.
