Don't be looking for this item to be in the druid of the flame's loot table. It's actually a small item that spawns next to the corpse!

Actually:
- you have to recruit The Shadow Wardens with the quest The Shadow Wardens;
- you have to kill Druid of the Flame near the core from quest Solar Core Destruction, not that one Druid of the Flame in a bird form. :)
- you have to look around of that druid's body and find Dried Acorn, accept the quest The Mysterious Seed and return it to Avrilla; she will unlock some new quest for you. :)

Actually:
- you have to recruit The Shadow Wardens with the quest Les Gardiennes de l’ombre;
- you have to kill Druide de la Flamme near the core from quest Destruction du noyau solaire, not that one Druide de la Flamme in a bird form. :)
- you have to look around of that druid's body and find Gland séché, accept the quest Une graine mystérieuse and return it to Avrilla; she will unlock some new quest for you. :)

As I totally agree on the other points that you mentioned, actually you don't have to do the quest Destruction du noyau solaire and then kill a Druide de la Flamme.
I got the Gland séché when I was on the quest Gare aux gardiennes and when I killed the Druide de la Flamme that was following and attacking the NPC that helped me to capture a Druide de la Flamme for that quest (by the way that was a good way to get an item that start a quest, I liked that, kudos to Blizzard).

It seems that user Marloss is totally right (that Les Gardiennes de l’ombre is the only requirement and any kill of Druide de la Flamme will spawn Gland séché next to the corpse of that NPC - if you haven't done the quest already of coarse):

Can you get this everyday or only once?

No, it isn't a daily quest.

It is the equivalent quest Besoin… d’eau… vite… for Druids of the Talon found at Molten Flow and that reward you 5 Mark of the World Tree at the end of the quest chain.

But upon completing it and the following quests (after Une graine mystérieuse the following La saison des semis and Petit flagellant deviendra grand quests); 3 daily quest will be available from Avrilla (you will be able to see and take only one of them every day):

You don't even have to kill the druid yourself. I arrived at the solar core with a yellow exclamation mark already waiting for me from someone who killed a druid.
