This item is not limited to use by engineers like previous cogwheels have been. You simply need non-engineer bound gear that has a cogwheel socket to use it (e.g. Ghost Iron Dragonling).

Be careful to note that this item is Unique-Equipped. The Unique-Equipped limitation is for the specific cogwheel though, and not the set, so you may use other Tinker's Gear cogwheels with this one (e.g. Fractured Tinker's Gear (+600 Mastery), Precise Tinker's Gear (+600 Expertise), Rigid Tinker's Gear (+600 Hit), and Subtle Tinker's Gear (+600 Dodge)).

one thing that blizz put a limit on regarding sockets is that you can only have one of each named cogwheel
example i got both goggles and the trinket on hunter making it needed to use ONE of each crit,mastery,hit,expertise and haste

you can not have ex 2xexpertise cogwheels

found this out the hard way
