This potion is glorious for levelling up a protection paladin.

Ideally you'll be fighting 6-12 mobs.. sometimes more :)... and this potion's effects become massive when you start throwing consecrations and the like. As well, it is dirt dirt dirt cheap.

This potion has a chance to proc specialization. I gave materials for 5 potions but the crafter gave me 7 potions. He said it procced his specialization. Maybe it is just bugged so it procs potion specialization instead? Forgot to ask which specialization he had :(

For protection paladin "AoE" farming this potion probably is good until you can use Earthen Elixir (lvl 50) because the disease effect will only increase physical damage by 8. You produce mostly holy damage which is magical damage. Weapon physical damage is pretty low anyway because you want fast weapon like Flurry Axe for Light/Wisdom seal and judgement procs. However, this adds +8 dmg when enemy is hitted by shield spike so it has some use until lvl 50.

I tried it with my lvl 63 Paladin against 10 mobs and it barely had any effect to killing time.

The Initial Damage from Lacerate generates nearly the entire threat. 8 Points more Initial Damage will result in about 1/4 to 1/3 more threat.

It currently says "Damage taken", no "Physical damage taken". Can it be that blizzard has changed it's effect to work on spells too?

Test: does not seem to affect spells. Also the debuff never stacked over 1 single application.

It will probably also be viable for the tanking Deathknight, as extra diseases will at more DPS/Threat for Blood Strike increasing his overall threat generated.

The effect of this elixir is questionable for pally AoE grinding. I've barely noticed any difference with or without using this. If it affects shield spike, I'd never know it because the damage figures are practically identical both with and without this elixir up. (Using combatstats for reference)
Also, holy shield is just that.. holy, and gains no benefit whatsoever from Gift of Arthas. You may as well quaff something more useful, like an mongoose or giants elixir while leveling.. if that's your thing.

At the moment this is by far the best guardian elixir for a tanking Death Knight as it counts as an additional disease.

(Although this is definately not intended and will most likely be fixed until release)

As of live, it doesn't increase the damage of Strikes, only Death Knight specific diseases will increase the damage. It does however work on Blood Boil, which I'm personally using all the time instead of Blood Strike, especially in raids with more DKs, Ferals and Shadowpriests.

This is a very good elixir for elixir swapping. If you dont have a flask up, drink this, tank a bit and make sure the debuff is up then use the flask. It will help one-shot the boss. (the debuff will last 3 mins which should be enough for most dps intensive bossfights - if its not you have to try to time it accordingly).

Addendum: I tend to use more and more avoidance elixirs for high end tanking nowadays which has brought to light a problem with gift of arthas for fights that last 3mins+ (that is longer than the debuff). I would have to elixir-swap twice to refresh the debuff alas gift of arthas is partially bugged for feral druids like myself because it shifts you out of bear form -> one shot. Not even the instant-reshift + pot macro works. It would be nice if this bug got squashed sometime soon - all other tanks are able to boost the dps in hard modes with this method.

I couldn't find any info about this anywhere online, so I tested it myself!

With MIXOLOGY, Gift of Arthas grants:

1 hour buff duration (up from 30 minutes)
18 Shadow resistance, stacking with racial bonus (up from 10)
No change to the curse's duration on afflicted targets (still 3 minutes)
No change to the damage taken debuff

For those curious, below is how I tested the debuff effect. Math and data ahoy, if numbers bore you turn around now!

I used the following conditions:

Level 85 Draenei Enhancement Shaman
single-wielding one Miséricorde in main hand
wearing entirely Intellect Mail (no Agi), to achieve minimal AP — character sheet melee attack damage range 60-63
No elemental shield active
No weapon imbue active
Healing Stream Totem (glyphed for Fire resistance), Windfury Totem, Stoneskin Totem placed

And I did this:

Attacked Elémentaire de roche brûlant using only autoattacks. They are all level 80, so stats should be consistent.
Test 1: I allowed the elemental to proximity-aggro me, waited for Don d'Arthas to proc, then began autoattacking
Test 2: I clicked off the Don d’Arthas self-buff, then simply found another elemental and began autoattacking

The results were:

Test 1 (Curse applied): 503 autoattack Hits, 50 minimum damage, 52 maximum damage, 51 average damage
Test 2 (no Curse): 527 autoattack Hits, 44 minimum damage, 46 maximum damage, 45 average damage

This seems to be a damage bonus of only +6. However, I believe Gift is applied before Armor reduction (contrary to other comments on Wowhead), based on this evidence:

Expected unmitigated damage based on the character sheet should be 60-63, or 61.5 average damage
Without the Curse active, actual damage was 44-46, average 45, which is 73.17% expected damage.
Assuming the Curse's effect is applied additively and before Armor, expected average damage would be min 68, max 71, average 69.5.
73.17% of 69.5 is 50.85, which is extremely close to the produced results of 51 average damage against an elemental with the Curse active.

If my assumptions are correct, then Gift of Arthas is granting the expected +8 physical damage taken, and this is not being increased or modified in any way by Mixology.
