I once ended up having nightmares about the infamous Œuf mystérieux i had one every week without fail and then every three days up until the week before MoP released and i finally bagged that Rênes de proto-drake vert needless to say everyone in my guild ended up with free pets from that damn egg.

Please Blizz i beg you make this one a little better on drop rate (LUCK) i was emotionally scarred with the last egg and i think this one could push me over the edge

I'm not sure how many dinosaurs I killed before I saw this drop, but I had picked up about 1300 bones before I saw it. It's safe to say it's not common. I will come back and edit this comment when it hatches. It dropped off one of the bigger direhorns.

EDIT: My egg and my friend's egg hatched today. His hatched into the Rênes de raptor primordial noir and mine hatched into Rênes de raptor primordial vert
We both looted a second pair of eggs tonight after ours hatched, so I will come back in 3 more days and report our findings.

EDIT#2: Last night, mine hatched into a second Rênes de raptor primordial vert! UGH! My friend got Rênes de raptor primordial rouge. We farmed for over 2 hours trying to find more eggs, but couldn't find a single egg! RNG.

I'm going to stop editing this post unless I get something different/unreported.

So now, we know the mounts are 100%. So far we know there is a chance between a black, red, or green raptor. You CAN get the same mount more than once. The eggs are probably a low drop, but you can get lucky and find them quick, as with any other rare drop.

Does this egg have a random chance of dropping off of every dinosaur type mob in the Isle of Giants or just certain ones? Silly question, but it's always good to get the facts straight. The direhorn hatchlings are obviously soloable, so I was curious if they had a chance of dropping off them as well.

Had this drop luckily this morning. It dropped from one the larger Green Direhorns on the Isle of Giants. Farmed with a group for around an hour for bones and this is the only one that dropped. Not sure if it drops from the smaller mobs.

got one of these eggs to drop off one of the mommie dino's, within an hour of servers being live, right in front of the FPs, the area east and west are both direhorns and a great place to kite. soloed the direhorns as destro lock, took under an hour of farming to get one, will update when it hatches

One dropped for me yesterday on about me 204th bone i believe, from a young raptor (middle of the island) i was farming the humanoids for pets. ill post agian in 2 days to let everyone know what i recieved! and by the way, i was getting pets 1 every 3-4 kills on those humanoids and they vendor for 63g. I made about 1500g yesterday just from vendoring andp ut the rest of the auction house even though i know they wont sell.

If anyone's wondering, once you loot an egg, you will not see another one of these drop until yours has hatched. I know it'll seem fairly obvious to some people, but sometimes you can view loot even when you're unable to loot it, so I was worried I'd see even more eggs drop while I'm waiting for mine to hatch. Nope.
But they do still drop (even if you can't see it), and if you have friends with you, they're welcomed to loot one for themselves :)

I was only on the island for about 2 hrs near the Beach with five other people and I was the only one who got an egg. I will let you know what hatches in three days, if i remember thanks. I got the egg after only farming 29 bones.....OK been three days and my egg Hatched into The Reins of the Black Primal Raptor it is striped with grey stripes good luck....lucky egg hunting.

I think this has a much higher drop chance off of the adults. A friend of mine got his off of one of the first direhorns he killed. (Stupid blood DKs and their soloing! =P) I asked another friend if he got one and he said it was the first thing he got off of an adult dino. (I think that was a Direhorn, too- not sure.) I got roflstomped by the adults so I started farming baby direhorns for an hour or so and no luck. So I decide to try and solo an adult Direhorn –again- and after a very long fight, two turtle tanks, and a bunch of in-the-nick-of-time cooldowns- the egg dropped off of the first adult I killed.
The solo was a pain in the butt but it’s starting to look like it may be worth the trouble if you target the adults, since it looks like they have a higher drop rate. I’m sure the grind wouldn’t be that bad if everyone attacked them in groups of three to collect their eggs.
Then again this could all just be coincidence and me and my friends got lucky. Won’t know for sure until we have a few more days’ worth of statistics to look over.
EDIT: my friends got the red and black raptor on egg #1. No one has said anything about getting a dud so it looks like the drop rate may be quite good. =) Makes up for the pain of having to farm them.

Each Elite has 2-13 million health and drops 1x-45x Bones.

These are individual loot but if you already have one, you don't see anymore however others in your party can loot them from mobs that are tagged as your loot. Was farming with a friend, he got his off a big devilsaur, then a few min later we cleared a small one to make room for me to kite a big, the small one was tagged his loot but I could loot an egg from it.

Does anyone know if this egg is unique for all chars on your account? I looted one 3 days ago on my hunter on my second dinosaur kill, then farmed around 900 bones with my dk and no egg. Today I got another egg on my hunter after 3-4 dinosaur kills, then got back on my dk and farmed like 500 bones and still no egg. Just bad luck?

I have opened 7 of these eggs now on different characters and received 4 green and 3 red primal raptors.

My egg hatched into a Green Primal Raptor.
I'm quite sure from all the comments, that it is 100% to get a raptor out of it. Now, the thing is, are you able to get multiple same mounts or does it look into your mount journal and tick off the ones you have... gonna see when I get my 2nd.
BTW: dont expect the Egg-raptors looking anything special, the Green one is just like the 60% raptors from the Troll faction, only difference is it's light green on color.

Guys. Guys. This might be more like the Oracles than I thought. It seems one of three mounts are 100% drop rate, yeah, but I just got my second Red Raptor. So.... I have this terrible feeling it's going to be 10 months down the road and I'll still be trying to get that last mount. Probably the green one!

This is probably also as close as we'll get to Devilsaur mounts, because, if you check out those raptors, they all have the old Devilsaur patterning. The bone raptor rounds them out.

Farmed for a few hours with some friends. We had a group of five and were just farming bones, not knowing that there was a chance at a different mount!

I randomly got one and then the hunt was on.

One of our friends left but we ended up farming about 4 eggs after around 3500 bones. (Pretty good.)
If I remember I'll come back in 3 days and let you know what we got!

EDIT:
So far we've got one Black, one Green, one Red. Respectively.
Still got one more, but she went to bed, I'll let you know what she got when she wakes up!

EDIT 2:
She got a black one.
So in order of drop to hatch, it went; Black, Green, Red, Black.

After opening 2 eggs since patch release, I was unlucky enough to get a Primal red raptor in both of them. So I can confirm you could recieve the same raptor more than once, meaning that retrieiving the 3rd and final raptor may prove to be quite annoying. Not so much of a problem if like me your soloing dinos for their bones on an on and off basis, so hopefully ill get the other 2 raptors before my white 1.

The first loot was off a pterrowing skyscreamer and the other off a primal devilsaur all within the hour of starting our farming of the bones. So when mine hatches i will post what it turned into!

The primal egg drops from all the mobs on Isle of Giants, but can also be looted from the failbags from Oondasta and LFR Throne of Thunder.
The dropchance for the eggs is somewhat unknown due to the fact that you will not see another one drop while you have one in your inventory or bank. This means that the Wowhead datas will be somewhat wrong.

If you are in a group, the egg will not be rolled for, since it is of while quality.

You can only find one egg at a time, and you will not see another one drop before you open your first egg. You can however loot the egg on as many different characters as you like.

The egg has a 100 % chance to drop a mount, and it can be one of the three following mounts:
- Reins of the Red Primal Raptor.
- Reins of the Black Primal Raptor.
- Reins of the Green Primal Raptor.

The chance of each mount seems to be 1/3 each. Having learned one of the mounts already does not affect the dropchance, so you still have 1/3 chance to get the same mount on your second egg. Your chances of getting all three different mounts in your first three eggs are 22%, so be ready to farm some extra eggs if you want them all!

So far I have looted 3 Primal Eggs, which contained Red, Green and then Red Primal Raptors. I am guessing that Blizzard made the Black Primal Raptor a slightly smaller drop chance than the other two, since they always like to make "popular" colors of mounts slightly harder to obtain.

I looted my first egg after 1400 bones, my second 4000 and 50000 bones and my third only about 150 bones later. I've also done some raid grouping with others and have found that if you're killing absolutely everything in your path, you can somewhat reliably loot 1 egg per hour for a random member of your group. The mob I have seen them drop from the most often is the Young Primal Devilsaur. If you are soloing and you are able to kill those mobs, they're your best bet for getting an egg. Otherwise, just keep farming young Direhorns.

I think these eggs are a nice incentive to help you keep farming towards your 9999 bones for the White Raptor. At the time of my writing I have less than a thousand bones to go, so along my journey I've also earned 3 other dinosaur mounts. If you're lucky enough, you'll have all 3 colors by the time you have enough bones for your White Primal Raptor, but you may find yourself continuing to farm even after you obtain it in order to complete your color collection. (Remember, you can always use extra bones to buy extra Spectral Porcupettes, then cage and sell them on the auction house!)

I haven't seen this being confirmed here, so just for the record: The egg hatches after 3 days or 72 hours.
This counts down from the moment you looted it. The time you are online is irrelevant in this matter.

In other words, it's real time not playtime.

First three eggs ever, all three became the red primal raptor. Ouch, bad luck.

So, I've just hit 9999 bones and seen 5 red, and 2 green raptors hatch. Zero black ones after 7 eggs 9999 bones. Hope this helps anybody trying to figure out how their luck may go.

A sad but do-able way to farm the egg: When people are grouping to kill Oondasta stay ungrouped and pull the large devilsaurs into their raid. They do an aoe and will have to kill it if they don't want to die and you get 100% of the loot. Just don't grief them and pull while they're killing Oon,

I can't wait to get one of these. :) I started my farm for the bones, and have been farming for about 3 hours and have just reached 999 bones. No sign of an egg yet...

Then again, I AM only sticking to the Direhorn Hatchlings, as I'm running solo. Got tired of no one wanting to group up and farm, and my husband refuses to go out here after he helped me get my Tome of Dinomancy . Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it!

It should be noted, the drop percentage is most likely lower than the actual rate. If you currently have an egg, you will not see another in the loot. However as others have mentioned, a party member can still get one after you loot.

I got my first egg after my first stack of bones, about 1100 into my farm (off a Primal Direhorn Hatchling). After it hatched I killed more Direhorns (hatchlings and larger ones) and it dropped off another hatchling after clearing out the blue camp a single time just west of the beach.

Not sure if this helps, but as a ilvl 515 Warlock it takes me about 1.5 - 2 hours to get a stack of bones (999). You should see one around that time if not sooner.

got all 3 raptors in 3 eggs lucky I know but I also had over 6k bones and I got the eggs off different mobs I figured id be farming forever to get all 3 and I got a extra egg I have to destroy now prob would of seen another egg but I have been farming bones after my 3 to get my white raptor now I am working on 9k bones almost there.......lonnnnnngggg grind /sigh gl and don't give up they look awesome in ur mount tab lol

Is there any info on the drop rate?

Someone above mentioned getting one about every ~1000 which, averaging about 20 bones per kill (I usually see 10-30 on a kill). That gives us about 50 kills per 1000 bones so if that is accurate in anyway I'd guess about 2% drop rate but wowhead's data is showing ranges from .02 to 5% depending on the mob, which could be skewed significantly by the fact the egg is unique and doesn't show as loot if you have one.

It may be fair to say that the Devilsaurs drop more often judging by the data (and their increased difficulty to kill), though that's purely anecdotal.

Me and a buddy were farming bones from Pterrorwing Skyscreamer's and one dropped for me and 2 kills later one dropped for him and we had only been farming for about an hour. Another person in our guild got an egg from a Pterrorwing Skyscreamer as well, hope this helps!

The LFR raid boss Dark Animus dropped it for me today. Just thought I mention it as I haven't seen it on the boss's loot table. Could this be a kind of world drop limited to Pandaria or a section of it? (Btw, I haven't been using wowhead's addon, so the list won't be updated with this item)

After farming numerous Warbringers, World Bosses (Nalak and Oondasta), bones on the Isle of Giants and inside the Throne of Thunder, I finally managed to get my first egg from my Treasures of the Thunder King bag and then another two in subsequent weeks. There's a chance to get this from any of the bosses in the Throne of Thunder.

Given they are unique, you will only be able to hold one of these at a time but after three days, the egg will hatch into one of three colours - black, green or red. However, they can be farmed on numerous toons.

Egg one - Reins of the Black Primal Raptor

Egg two - Reins of the Green Primal Raptor

Egg three - Reins of the Red Primal Raptor

It's a shame you can loot more than one of the same colour though, especially since you can only learn one and cannot sell or trade it. I must have been really lucky though as I didn't get any duplicates although I only farmed these on one character which may have something to do with it.

Hey guys, as of Patch 5.2 you can acquire the Œuf primordial from the following :

Diablosaure primordial (5%)

Navrecorne primordial (2-3%)

Hurleciel pterreurdaile (1.4%)

Jeune diablosaure primordial (1%)

Jeune navrecorne primordial (0.5%)

Pile de déchets brillants (3%)

Cache touchée par la tempête (3%)

Trésors du roi-tonnerre (3%)

Butin du roi-tonnerre (2%)

I would also like to add that as soon as you acquire this Œuf primordial it will be in your bag for exactly 3 days once you have waited 72 hours you will obtain Œuf primordial brisé and inside that egg will contain one of the following Mounts :

Rênes de raptor primordial noir (35%)

Rênes de raptor primordial rouge (33%)

Rênes de raptor primordial vert (32%)

It is said that keeping the reins of whatever dino you have in your bag will not force the egg to give you another color even though it worked for me and a few other people. Please don't downrate because it's helpful to know since nobody else was posting this. Below is just my experiment I was trying out.

I haven't seen any posts about this so I thought I'd experiment. When my first egg hatched, I got the reins for the red raptor. My second egg hatched the same one so instead of deleting or selling it, I left it in my bag. I was still able to get a third egg.

I think that since the reins themselves are unique, you can't get the same color as what is in your bag. I am not sure if it will force the cracked egg to give me another color or if it will just refuse to let me loot the egg if the same color dino is hiding inside. I will update in three days when I find out. :D

Hopefully it works and people can get all three colors faster this way. (If anyone else already tried this, please comment and let us know!)

UPDATE: Egg hatched today and it was the green instead of the another red. Doesn't prove anything right now but am going to not learn it and farm another egg and see what happens. Will update either way. If anyone is trying/has tried this and knows if it works or not, please comment. :)

SECOND UPDATE: Last egg gave me the black and I now have all three colors.

This dropped for me and i never realized it, i was attacking the red direhorn hatchlings at the time. I'll update and say which raptor it turns out to be.

Just received my first Primal Egg after about 3 hours of bone farming; I had 1577 Giant Dinosaur Bones when it dropped. It dropped from a Primal Direhorn Hatchling. I'll update when it hatches to let you guys know what it held.

I have a question did they actually increase drop rate in 5.3? I was bone farming yesterday with friends for the first time since patch release and in ~1.5 hour we had 14 eggs drop. We were 5 in group so we were making big pulls and killing everything fast so it was probably faster than averge solo farming, everyone got ~1.2k bones at that point.

The very first post gives a probably of 2/9 of getting all different color eggs. That is right.
The attempts at correction obviously don't understand the math.

Anyways, here is why it is right.
For the first egg, you have 100% chance of getting an egg you don't have.
For the second egg, you have one of them, so there are only 2 out of the 3 you need, or 66% chance to get what you need.
Then if you made it here, there is 1/3 eggs you still need, or 33% chance.
That is
3/3
2/3
1/3
----
6/27 or 2/9 simplified, or 22%.

The (1/3)^3 nonsense is how likely you are to get your pick of mount each time (say want RED first, BLACK second, GREEN last. Since most people don't care what order they get them as long as they get them who cares?

Just throwing it in, just got one from Oondasta's shiny poop... Dunno if anyone else managed to get one, this is about 20th kill (maybe less, hard to keep track with 5 90s).

Farmed for these for the first time last night with a friend. He is a ilvl 515 protection paladin and I myself am a ilvl 517 mage. We were easily able to kill all the mobs except the primal devilsaur's. Eventually the crush stacks would get high enough to take chunks out of the tanks life and eventually one shot him turning the dino on me. The direhorn's are easy, move out of the way of the triple puncture like on horridon, and watch out for the front and back cleave/tail swipe.

I don't know how long we farmed the island. We did 3 complete rotations starting at oondasta clearing down past the vendor that sells you the dino suits around the island across the beach and up the back half of the island back down to oondasta. In the 3 rotations we got:

1 x Primal Egg
2 x Zandalari Footslasher
1 x Zandalari Toenibbler
1 x Zandalari Kneebiter
1 x Zandalri Anklerender
1 x Direhorn Runt

917 dino bones for him, 909 for me. Lots of greens to boot.

Primal egg is unique item, so u can have only one at same time and same character. Drop rate is 0,5% from Primal Direhorn Hatchlings, they are easiest to kill. When i killed my first dino, egg dropped and about 5 minutes after dropped another one for same character, but when hatched i has gone to farm again and it taken about 6 hours to find new egg. I had to kill almost 200 dinos to get my egg. I hope it will help ya :) Gl with farming.

So, the strangest thing happened to me. I'm already on my 7th egg (still no black for me). But I noticed that i only loot eggs when i have Mysterious Egg in my bag. I got one egg in my 6th kill, after 3 days i was one more in my 150 kill. I was collecting bones for the I've Got 9999 Problems but a Bone-White Primal Raptor Ain't One and finished the 9999 and 1000 more and didn't get another. Got bored, gave up, went for some northern dungeons and passing by the Oracles got another egg. First LFR afterwards guess what? a Primal Egg in my bag of gold. After 3 days 2nd kill in the island, got another egg. Maybe its only me, but until i get my black raptor i will have an oracles egg with me, cause i don't believe in coincidences.

Me and my friend were going to farm these untill we both got one. So we went to isle of giants and decided to start easy on Jeune diablosaure primordial. My friend got his egg from the very first mob. I was pissed and had to repair so I heartstoned then got back to the island and killed exactly the same Jeune diablosaure primordial again. AND POOF! Egg dropp for me too! :D

We must have been very very lucky since it says the drop chance is 1.4 or something.

I have found that the best place to farm (because of reduced competition) is in the north eastern region of the island with the blue dinosaurs. A vendor on the island sells a disguise to get past the mobs without aggro'ing them. I received mine after approximately 40 kills. It can be quite disheartening to not see it drop, so I used the rarity addon to track my progress and display the probability that at least one would drop after X kills, where X was the amount I had killed.

The young dinosaurs are easily solo'able as a discipline priest with item level 521, probably lower. Atonement healing should be enough, but an occasional PW:S and PoM may be required. Use your Mind-bender with Fade in order to get rid of the armor reducing debuff stacks on you. They respawn quickly, so draw them away from the center.

I got my first Primal Egg off a Primal Direhorn Hatchling(Red), it turned out to be a Green Primal Raptor, a few months later(2 weeks ago) I got another Egg off a Primal Direhorn Hatchling(White), and it turned out to be the Red Primal Raptor, and just a few days ago, I got one more Egg off a Primal Direhorn Hatchling(Green) , and it was a Black Primal Raptor! Lucky me! It was quite a shock to get all 3 with my first 3 Eggs. I'll be posting pictures of them along with the hunter pets that look exactly like them. If you're farming these I would suggest taking a small group and specifically targeting the devilsaurs, I saw four of these drop today when we were clearing the whole island. The first three dropped in a row and the fourth (my one) dropped later, all from devilsaurs. Worth noting that we killed significantly more direhorns and didn't see a single thing.

So uh...the eggs are unique so you can only have one, but something I haven't seen mentioned in the comments is what happens if you hatch an egg and take the raptor out, but DON'T learn it. The raptors are unique as well, so what happens if you were to then obtain another egg and wait for it to hatch? Would it "force" the game to spit out a different color or would you still be able to get the color you already have out and just be unable to loot it?

US - Malygos - Farming these for the Bones of course as ilvl 519 BM Hunter!

The smaller ones drop 4-9 bones, the big ones always around 15-18, the 4th kill of a big direhorn dropped the EGG! :)

small ones arent really hard to kill as it seems, the huge ones take time due their huge amount of health, but definatly not that bad if you know the "how-to" :) as for the rest of the mists fights, avoid stuff, pay attention, all good!

The Primal Egg is Also Dropped By Horridon, the next to the last Boss in LFR Last Stand of the Zandilari. It dropped two today in LFR and I was lucky enough to get one. One was dropped by an Add at the thrid door by a Frozen Warlord and the final was at the end of the fight. LFR has been droppimg more mounts lately so keep wprking people and your collection may yet grow

Possibly just a total fluke ... but ... the orange Primal Direhorn located at 44.8 72.2 has dropped an egg 4 kills in a row today. And I've been clearing all of the big ones around of all colors and no other has dropped the egg. Hurts letting it rot so many times.

Again, maybe a fluke, but when I come back for my other colors of the mount I know what I'll be smashing first.

I decided to farm to 10k bones today for the mount, and I you can actually see another egg if it drops, you CAN'T loot it though.

Didn't read all the comment so this might be a redundant bit of info, but Magaera (the worms boss in ToT) dropped a treasure bag (treasures of the thunder king) and in it was the primal egg. Apparently it will hatch into a raptor mount, which I've always wanted as they are super rare on the alliance side.

it's probably worth knowing that if you have looted Pile de déchets brillants from oondasta but not yet opened it, there could be an egg in it and so you won't get egg drops from mobs despite not opening oodasta loot. This is what happened to me, I couldn't figure out why an egg wasn't dropping, then I opened the Oon loot and the was an egg inside!

I decided to get started on the 10k bones for the mount while trying to get my hands on the egg. Asking around people farming around the island I was told in most cases that people got their hands on this around 10-20 mins killing dinos.... I'm already 2500 bones into the mount and not a single egg to be seem :\ But I got around 3k gold in vendor trash and pets, so I got that going for me wich is nice....

Just got it in Pinnacle of Storms (LFR) from the Twin Consorts. Just to note i have been to Isle of Giants previously, killed some mobs to helm my hunter friend get the dino book. This was on Outland as Alliance.

I found 10 primal eggs whilst grinding for 9999 bones, personally keeping 6 where as my partner and brother kept a few too upon helping me grind.

7 of the eggs turned out to be Green Raptors
2 of the eggs turned out to be Black Raptors
1 of the eggs turned out to be a Red Raptor

The drops are completely random as I got one once on the 2nd drop and another on the 277th, then sometimes one drop after the other. Well worth grinding for.

Drop rates shown should be realistic. Been farming Jeune navrecorne primordial at the beginning, Jeune diablosaure primordial since. Never farmed with egg in inventory. At 6700 bones ~ 550 kills (probably a couple more), I've seen 3 eggs in total. I don't believe that real drop rates are as low as the half percent I've seen but there's no reason to believe they're higher than 1-2% reported here.

Edit: 7500 bones ~ 625 kills, egg 4.

Edit2: Due to better gear, upgraded to Navrecorne primordial for better drop chance. 12000 bones (about 800 kills, I assume), 8 eggs = first 4 Rênes de raptor primordial noir, second 4 Rênes de raptor primordial rouge. Probability of that particular outcome: 1/(3⁶)*2/3 = 0.00091 or 0.091%! Probability of getting only two raptors out of 8 eggs still (2/3)^7 = 0.058 or 5.8%.

I've been killing Direhorns (both sizes) for a while now (around 800 bones worth) with no egg drops.

I HAVE noticed that they are now very occasionally dropping one Lesser Charm of Good fortune, which makes me wonder if they nerfed their loot tables and replaced some of the eggs with Lesser Charms, since they're doing the same thing in 6.0, replacing the palace keys with Lesser Charms as a placeholder drop.

Will keep killing dinos for a while and see.

While it can drop off of dinosaurs on the Isle of Giants, it is possible to get them out of the bags of loot from the Looking for raid Throne of Thunder instances, so if you are trying to farm these raptors, you might have some luck with these bags.

I recommend killing the red Primal Direhorns. Around 4 eggs dropped for me from them in more or less three days. White Primal Devilsaurs are good for that too :) I guess the rng likes me...one day I have seen four eggs drop (two from red Direhorns, one from green one and one from Skyscreamer). It's so annoying they are unqiue :| In ten days of farming, I have seen around eight (maybe nine) eggs dropping.

Either I have been the victim of some insanely unlucky RNG, or something is up with the drop rate of these lately.

In one session I farmed over two thousand Os de dinosaure géants, yet did not see a single Primal Egg drop.

No, I definitely do not have one in my bags/bank. Can anybody else confirm similarly low drop rates recently?

I can confirm, you can see a second Primal Egg when you already have one in your bags. I had gotten one about 45 minutes ago(my second in the last week), and then another dropped for me just a few minutes ago. I was farming the Giant Dinosaur Bones by myself. Of course, because it is unique, i couldn't pick up the second. Sucks i had to let it go.

I just started trying to get eggs because I've always wanted a Raptor.

So, my experience of trying to farm the eggs was this:

First egg, I got within 10 kills or so. Took maybe 10 minutes at the most. Awesome.

Hatched into a Red Primal Raptor, which is cool, but not the one I wanted. I wanted black.

So, I went back and started farming again. Farmed for a good 20 minutes last night before giving up. Tried again this morning and probably took 20 or 30 minutes, ended up farming out about 3300 bones before I finally got another Primal Egg. Here's hoping it hatches into a Black one :)

I will note, it didn't seem like I needed to collect 2 eggs to hatch this one. It said the same thing as my first egg...that is, that it'll hatch in 3 days. No extra stipulation.

I farmed as Arms Warrior at first, but then I decided to switch to Prot and I'm so glad I did. Made it faster and easier. I could easily take on 2 Primal Devilsaurs and 3 or 4 hatchlings at the same time and end the fight with full HP. So awesome. I'm not even that well geared, item level is something like 625 right now.

For the record, it seems that having Mysterious Egg in your bag will prevent this egg from dropping, but you can still purchase a Mysterious Egg after you have a Primal Egg and have both in your bag at the same time.

After getting 865 dinosaur bones, (couldn't remember how many I killed) I got 1 zandalari anklerender and 1 primal egg.

The drop rate is not that bad, since on average each monster could drop 10~20 bones.

I got my first egg in under 15 kills. It hatched a few hours ago into a green one. I then went out again today killed about 30 of them or so and got another egg. I wonder if it will be red or black this time. Hopefully it's not another green. I also have about 1100 bones. I could turn 999 in for that pet but it probably doesn't sell for nearly as close as it used to. Some servers were getting 120k for that pet but I guess that was when MoP was fresh, and people were fresh 90s farming the isle. I'm probably going to just keep farming to 9999 and get the white raptor. 1000 bones didn't take that long at all. If you do nothing but kill and loot bones non stop with no breaks it will probably take 2 hours to get 9999 bones but it definitely shouldn't take more than a day if you're out there and dedicated.

Was bored so went to Dino Isle. Got a primal egg off second 91 elite I came across, then saw a small group doing Oondasta so I joined in and got a bag of shiny refuse, was a bit upset that all I got was junk, till opened the bag and saw a second primal egg in the bag. That's 2 egg drops in less than 15 minutes. Now I just have to wait 3 days for the first egg to hatch before I can loot the bag for the second.

As of tonight, I ran around the Isle of Giants for a little less than an hour and received 2624 Giant Dinosaur Bones, and 4 different dinosaur pets.

I received my first Primal Egg about 35 minutes into my farming. Then 2 more dropped within the next 5 pulls, and then a 4th in the next 10 minutes. They stayed lootable for about 25 minutes, but I obviously couldn't pick them up.

Just in case anyone was wondering if you could see others drop when one is in your inventory.

I just opened my 10th cracked egg and received the final Primal Raptor.

#1 was a red and #2 was the black, but then 3-9 were duplicate red or blacks. #10 was the long awaited green.

I had the 9999 bones necessary to buy my white primal raptor by the time I got to egg #5

I'm still looking for that drop from Oondasta, so will be returning to Isle of Giants weekly

I decided to finally go farm bones for the mount and one of these dropped for me--which I had forgotten all about. When the second one dropped I was bummed because I had also forgotten they were unique. Then I got an idea...switch characters.

So I switched over to another character and started farming more bones until I got another egg. I am now switching again to yet another character and continuing to farm my bones...and eggs.

So, my friends tell me they get an egg after about 10 minutes of just farming. So I go, oh kay, what the heck. So I go and farm. 3 hours and 3,119 bones later, the egg FINALLY drops. I am so done with life right now. I even told them how much bones I had and they all said to me "lol, sucks to suck.". I'm done.

Just to give you an idea of what you might expect, using bones as a measurement. I got one just yesterday, after a total of two days of grinding. As a 96/97 without amazing gear, I could only kill Primal Direhorns with all my long cooldowns. So I was killing those every now and then, and used Primal Direhorn Hatchlings, Young Primal Devilsaurs, and Pterrorwing Skyscreamers as fillers. Wasn't killing Primal Devilsaurs at all.

According to one guy, he was getting eggs about every 1000 bones, most bones coming from Primal DIrehorns. Since I was also killing a lot of the lower drop % stuff as well, I expected mine to take slightly longer. And sure enough, I got my egg at about 1400 bones.

I think they must have greatly upped the drop rate on these as I just got 2 in about 10 minutes of farming bones. Makes up for the 9 gold and 13 bones dropped when I killed Oonstra for my weekly :(

I will almost think this egg has a much greater chance if you already have one in your bag. I see it drop like 3-4 times in a few minutes, you can actually see it drop (unlike some comments stated) but you cannot loot it. Once I got one mount from the egg, it stopped dropping.

Just an FYI, there is a way to carry two of these in your bags. If you loot one from a Devilsaur or whatever mob it drops from, and then kill Oondasta, there's a chance he will drop one in the Shiny Pile of Refuse. If it holds an egg, you can't remove it from the Pile of refuse until the original egg has hatched, but once it has, you can move the egg within the Pile of Refuse into your bag, and there you go!

Obviously this is dependant on if you get an Egg from the Refuse Pile, but just worth noting I thought!

These are unique (can't loot more than one at a time).
So if you are farming for the Bone-White Primal Raptor at the same time - swap toons every time you get an egg.

I wouldn't worry about carrying more than 5 eggs on your account. That should be enough to ensure you get all three colors.

Oondasta's "Shiny Pile of Refuse" loot can contain an egg - so it can act as a way for you to hold a second egg on one toon if you get lucky.
The egg will stay in the Shiny Pile of Refuse until the first egg in your bags hatches.

If you are farming this egg as of Shadowlands, it should not take long for you to get an egg. It's a lot more difficult to wait for the hatch than it is to find an egg (well if you're impatient, like me). Usually it took no more than two dozen dinosaurs to get an egg (including the babies whose drop rate is lower, but of whom there are far more to kill). Usually I had a few hundred bones or less in bags on a toon when it happened.

Most bones gathered before first Primal Egg: 555 (41 kills)
Fewest bones gathered before first Primal Egg: 12 (2 kills)

When I was farming the dinosaur bones for the 9999 needed for the mount, I ended up with every toon who could run it having an egg in their possession, and my main saw about a dozen more over the few hours it took to collect the bones. It was very frustrating to see all those eggs and not be able to loot them.

Update: After not getting all three mounts from the eggs, I spent a second round of gathering primal eggs. This time, the egg did not drop as fast (time, total number of dinosaurs killed, and total giant bones collected per character). The first round, my Dalaran hearthstone (what I use to go to Stormwind to port to Jade Forest) wasn't up for all but one character - and that included the 5ish minutes to fly to Isle of Bones.

This second round, I was averaging more than 30 minutes per character to get the egg. It just seems weird to me that all the drops were so much faster on one day than another. I know, statistics, RNG (yeah, degree in it). But I also code, and I'm giving serious thought to "What if the drop rates are coded to vary by day of the week, sign of the moon, or some other weirdly picked time period?"

Second update:
First: egg mount drops - 9 eggs have produced 7 black raptors and 2 green raptors (green were both in the second round).
Second: I'm now attempting my third round to get the last raptor. I'm getting the egg within 15 minutes (usually less than 50 kills). So this third attempt is going more like the first one than the second one. And yes, it's the same day of the week as the first attempt. :)

If you are gathering eggs, focus on killing the raptors, they have the highest drop rate.

I had to gather 1500 to 2000 + eggs when I was farming the island for my second egg. I only got the egg when I started focusing on raptors.

Once you have all three mounts, you can clear the island to gather bones.

I just looted this in Spires of Arak from Rukhmar. The first time this happened I thought it was a mistake and I picked it up elsewhere but this character has never been to Isle of Giants (that I can recall) and it was added to my inventory after only logging in and killing Rukhmar where I stood. I killed nothing else, just logged in and punched the bird.

Had 2 drop today within 5 minutes of farming. One from Primal Direhorn and one from Primal Devilsaur . Only can possess 1 at a time.
