From my understanding, these should be World Drops from Thunder Isles in 5.2. I might be mistaken, but pretty sure.

This is supposedly a world drop. From personally looting it, I farmed mobs located on the Isle of Thunder. Took me about 30 minutes of killing random mobs, but I obtained both the Magnificence of Leather and Scales Pattern. Hope this helps anyone who is confused or just having bad luck with the world drop.

I had this and the other pattern drop off random mobs, one while i was killing mogu for Golden Lotus dailies, the other in the nesingwary area in Valley of Four Winds while farming leather.

There seems to be no added benefit from using Patron : Splendeur des écailles over using Patron : Splendeur du cuir. My friend and I conducted a mini-experiment. I used scales and he used leather, at seperate times, and as luck will have it, we both pulled the recipe for Heaume en peau de quilen. So from what I've gathered, do whichever one is cheaper on your server. Leather from what I'd imagine would be easier to farm than the scales.

The potential for "added benefit" was as we had theorized, perhaps the scales turn into mail recipes and the leather turns into leather recipes, or one for epic recipes and one for rare recipes, but this is not the case, as stated above.

fwiw, i went to the turtles in the easternmost pond in 4 Winds and pulled 12-15 of them and both of the new patterns dropped for me with that one pull; today: 3-5-13 around 10pm server, WA.

If you're having problems with getting this to drop - try to restart your game.
Not relog, restart.

I did all of the tillers dailies, and half of the Thunder Isle dailies without a drop - 600 leatherworker.
I then restarted the game, and got magnificence of scales on the first mob, and magnificence of leather on the third mob.
Just an FYI. The bug will probably be hotfixed soon.

I had this pattern as well as Patron : Splendeur des écailles drop from random mobs in Heroic Shado-Pan Monastery and Scholomance in the same day within a couple hours of one another. Luckily I was the only leatherworker in both groups so I got them both. I think it's awesome that Leatherworking finally got something comparable to a scribe's ability to learn random glyphs daily. Wouln't mind a "Book of Leatherworking Mastery" to teach us random old leatherworking patterns either. (I'll keep dreaming) All in all...<insert happy dance>.

It dropped for me today in Krasarang Wilds on The Defiant off one of the Enlisted Cannoneers.

Edit: Pattern: Magnificence of Scales dropped for me today off the same mob. And thanks for the downrates on a fact. > > Idiots.

For anyone wondering these are like the primal diamonds for the Jewel crafters out there. They will only drop for Leatherworkers and are BoP. I reccomend killing the turtle's in the zone valley of the four winds in Pandaria, they're easy to kill with having a small 110k HP and I got both recipes within 5 minutes.

Farmed the Turtles in Valley of the Four Winds as suggested. Took just over 60 kills to get the Patron : Splendeur des écailles and then another 10 or so to get Patron : Splendeur du cuir.
Thanks to them being a quest mob, the respawn rate is very high and you can farm them in groups of 4-5 at a time easily.

Dropped very quickly for both of my leatherworkers off Mountain Yaks in Kun Lai, fewer than 10 kills each. Mine have taught designs for both Leather and Mail, both PvP and PvE gear so far.

Most of the other production classes have a spirit of harmony + something = pattern.. are we stuck with 20 scales or 20 leather a day to get new patterns? Or is there a spirit of harmony pattern generator out there that I'm missing?

I was killing Mountain Yaks in Kun-Lai Summit on lvl 86 druid. I have maxed out Skinning and LW and this dropped from like 5th kill. I was after the leather version of this, but got scale one instead. Going to keep farming I guess :(

EDIT: Got the leather version few kills after this. This time it dropped from Summit Prowler. In total took me about 10mins to get them both.

You WILL learn a pattern every time you use this. If you run into a point where you do not learn a pattern it is because you have already learned all 82 patterns.

I am posting this because I came to this page wondering if it was a chance at learning a pattern or if you ALWAYS learned a pattern. I can now confirm after doing this daily research 90 times that you will learn a pattern EVERY time you do it until you have no patterns left to learn.

Cheap way to use this everyday if you are a LW and don't want to skin and don't want to get screwed paying for leather at the auction house:

1) Get exhalted with Tillers
2) Grow 16 songbells daily
3) Make Spirit of Harmony
4) Trade in Spirit for 20 leather or scales
5) Make Magnificent Hide and get pattern.

I dropped skinning for ENG months ago and now have over 30 hides and over 20 spirits stocked and can create 476 gloves every couple days to make some cash on the AH and the only farming I do is...well, actually farming every day.

Don't know if this helps, but I was at 590 leatherworking and tried to farm this pattern. I assumed that it would drop fairly quickly like the Schéma : Journal de l'ingénieur en chef Jard since it does not require 600 to learn. I spent about an hour farming stags and other creatures in Jade Forest and then Valley of Four Winds on my way to Half Hill, but no drop. I decided to fly back to Temple of Two Moons and buy a 590 LW pattern with the Esprit de l'harmonie I collected from killing these creatures and crafted a few to level to 600. I then flew back to Half Hill and after about my 4th creature kill it finally dropped. So, I am thinking that either this requires 600 skill to drop or the drop rate increases exponentially.

Confirmed that this can be found before L90 character and L600 LW. Not sure the minimum requirement but I had LW 530 for a long time, leveled my char in Pandaria up to 89 and it never dropped. I stopped questing and leveled LW up to 575 and went back to questing. Both Patron : Splendeur du cuir and Patron : Splendeur des écailles dropped of Yongol (sp?) mobs nearly back to back within the first 30 minutes.

So...

Does not require level 90 character.
Confirmed drop with as low as 575 LW.
Confirmed does not drop only from beasts.
Confirmed can drop in any Pandaria zone (most comments suggest only going to Valley of Winds).

I can confirm that this will drop for characters below lvl 85 and with LW skill of 530. I had a friend portal/fly my lvl 82 shaman down to the crocs between pearlfin village and pawdon village in jade forest- the pattern dropped from the third croc i killed/skinned. This may be insanely lucky but it does mean it can happen, however rarely and does not have a skill/level requirement to get the drop. Good luck

It took me less than 1 minute of farming Wyrmhorn Turtle to get this pattern.My LVL at that time was 88 and Leatherworking LVL was 576. Thanks to all the comments before mine.

I'd like to point out since I didn't see it here; you have to have leatherworking 500 for this to DROP.

I found this out the hard way by farming over 500 turtles (sold 520~ scales) before I decided to just level LW for a bit. I broke 500 and went back out to do a daily and got the drop literally on the first turtle I killed xD

Both Patron : Splendeur du cuir and Patron : Splendeur des écailles drop at Pandaria Leatherworking skill 50/75.

Most creatures in Pandaria seem to drop those recipes. I got mine from the Broketooth mobs south of the Sha of Anger in Kun-Lai-Summit (Broketooth Charger / Broketooth Tosser). Couple dozen kills for both recipes.

BfA update: You do not need to max out (skill level 75) get this. You can get this to drop with skill level 70 in Panderia Leatherworking, possibly earlier. I leveled up five points at a time, killed a few clusters of mobs, repeated. So, it is very possible I was unlucky and you can get the drop at an even lower skill level.

I recommend Skyrange, as it has multiple clusters.

Because "kill turtles near Halfhill" left me flying around aimlessly searching for a while, here is the exact location of a few dozen turtles. Got the Patron : Splendeur du cuir and Patron : Splendeur des écailles in about 50 kills combined:

Shadowlands patch 9.1.5, got to 75 panda LW, killed about 50/75 turtles and got Patron : Splendeur du cuir, Patron : Splendeur des écailles and Patron : Peau magnifique durcie et ses nombreux usages in about 5 minutes.

You don't even need to have Pandaria Leatherworking skill at 50 for this pattern to drop. I got this pattern, and the pattern for Magnificence of Scales, at skill 10.

If you are here trying to figure out how to get the recipe to craft Magnificent Hide then you are in the wrong place.

Before you go out and kill 1500 turtles, all you need is to visit the Leather Working trainer Clean Pelt in Kun-Lai Summit and you can buy the recipe.

Just doesn't drop for me lvl 70 char and max lvl pandaria lw. Killed hundreds of turtles and other mobs. Seems to be bugged :(
