5.1 introduces many quality-of-life fixes for fans of pet battles, from battle stones that let you upgrade the quality of your favorite pet, to UI improvements showing pet rarity and levels of wild battle pets. We've covered the big ones below!

Pet Battle Journal: Sort Features
Several search filters have been added to the Pet Battle Journal.
Name: Sort pets in alphabetical order.
Level: Search by highest to lowest.
Rarity: Group pets together by Rare, Uncommon, Common, and Poor quality.
Type: Group pets by family (Beast, Mechanical, etc).
Zone Maps: Levels of Wild Battle Pets
Players can now see the levels of wild battle pets per zone with the in-game map. The levels show up beneath the zone's name, colored green, yellow, or orange depending on the level of your own pet team (similar to quests). Zones that are too difficult show up as red, in a smaller font than the others.
Tooltips Improvements
Players can have up to three copies of most pets collected. In-game tooltips now display how many copies of a pet a player owns. If a player already has three pets, that information is displayed in red. In addition, the tooltip displays the rarity of your pet now.
Pet Battles: Wild Pet Quality in UI
Showing the quality of wild battle pets in combat was a popular addon feature. In 5.1, the Blizzard UI now shows the quality of wild battle pets in combat on their name and image frame, as well as in the battle pet journal.
Battle Stones
Rare pets are highly sought-after, but are difficult to catch in the wild. By introducing Battle Stones in 5.1, players can upgrade the quality of their pets.
Flawless Battle-Stones
upgrade pets to rare quality. There is a general-purpose stone (
Pierre de combat sans défaut
) as well as stones that are family-specific.
Polished Battle-Stones upgrade pets to uncommon quality. There is a general-purpose stone,
Pierre de combat polie
, which is available for 0
Points de justice
.
When using a stone on a pet, their levels decrease in a similar manner to capturing a wild battle pet: no levels lost from 1-15, one level lost from 16-20, two levels lost from 21-25.
Epic battle stones were previously datamined, but aren't available on the PTR:
Perfect Battle-Stones
. Currently, while various Pet Tamers can have epic pet teams, players cannot.
Keep in mind that a pet's stat combination can affect its performance--it's not just rarity. So some uncommon-quality vendor pets with a strong stat combination might suddenly be in demand once they have a battle stone applied to it.
Pierre de combat sans défaut
is BoE and can be sold on the AH, but family-specific stones are BoP.
Flawless Battle-Stones can be acquired several ways:
Family-specific stones have a low chance to drop from pets of that same family, so
Pierre de combat mécanique sans défaut
could be acquired from battling
Robot poulet
. Higher level pets have better droprates.
Pierre de combat polie
has a low chance to be acquired from all pets, with higher chances from high-level pets.
Family-specific stones also have a low chance to be in
Sac de fournitures pour mascottes
from daily Pet Tamer quests. The type of stone you get is completely random.
