BlizzCon Day 1—and Wowhead Quest!
21/08/2009 à 12:23
So I'm in my hotel room, packing my stuff up and heading down to the convention floor. I'm going to use this blog post to write down my random thoughts as we go on through the day, just in case some of you may be bored enough that they want to hear MY running commentary on their DirecTV broadcast. :P
Don't forget that for more immediate news and pictures—the kind I don't have to run up to the press room to publish—you can follow us on Twitter:
For those of you who are actually attending the convention, Wowhead has a quest for you!
If you manage to find one of us on the convention floor—you'll know us by our Wowhead T-shirts—then you get a card for a free month trial of
The updates will be coming after the break!
So this place is so crowded with people playing with their iPhones that the intertubes are clogged, and I'm having trouble getting Twitters out. I can't even send text messages. That is an impressive number of people. :P
And we're starting! They're giving us the "Here's what you can do while you're here" pre-speech. Apparently there are 1700 computers here. :P
Mike Morhaime takes the stage to Starcraft music, and thunderous applause. Word is Starcraft 2 apparently just won "Best of Show" at GamesCom in Germany!
There it is:
Mike just pointed out that everyone at the convention was rooting for something "Cataclysmic" to happen. Somebody tell MMO-Champion to remove the "99.9% likely" on his site. :)
Watching the "Last Year's Highlights" video now!
By the way I twittered this, but I wanted to reproduce it here. From Mike Morhaime:
20,000 Blizzcon tickets were sold within
. That's even faster than ret paladins storm the forums after a nerf.
Apparently we'll be able to play the single player SC2 campaign while we're here. I'm personally looking forward to that one. :)
And Chris Metzen takes the stage! This has gotta be the big announcement.
New D3 class: The Monk! Classic, Kung Fu style martial arts type, probably based on the Assassin.
So it looks like everything MMO-Champion had was correct, but apparently Blizzard still managed to keep a FEW secrets. :)
Stay tuned for the next blog, when we hit up the preview panel!
