Today's Community Spotlight is on The_Other_Zelda who posted their concept for a caterpillar mount, complete with animations, on
Reddit
. This precocious caterpillar is adorably pudgy and it flies! Check it out:
The_Other_Zelda obviously put a great deal of work into this little fellow; from the verdant variegation in the skin to the leaf designs and potion bottles on the saddle, the detail is wonderful. For the artist, this was just an exercise in stylized sculpting and hand-painted textures using Zbrush, Maya, and Substance Painter. The animation was an exploration of how such a creature would move, taking into account the weight and 12 little legs. If you'd like to see the caterpillar in action, check it out on
