Goblin Player Reaches Level 50 Without Leaving Kezan

World of Warcraft is a huge game with loads of content; new content, old content, endgame, leveling, grinding, gathering, minigaming... And yet some players still find new ways to make their own fun. We've
reported previously on Doubleagent
, the Pandaren who reached max level without ever leaving the Wandering Isle; now we have a new contender for the title of most masochistic grinder: Nobb the Goblin has reached level 50 without ever leaving Kezan. In Nobb's world, Kezan has not yet blown up, and never will if he has anything to say about it.
Doubleagent used the experience gained from
Minage
and
Herboristerie
to acquire much of the experience needed for his feat, but neither profession is available on Kezan, so how did Nobb do it? Nobb started out by killing over 5,000
Ver tunnelier
on a starter account. He couldn't quest past
Membre d'honneur
because at that point the Worms phase out. At level 20, and with 10 levels of banked experience, he then subbed and cashed in his banked experience to get to level 30. Why, you may ask, did he use a starter account?
You see, on starter accounts that have yet to pay for a subscription, any XP you gain past level 20 is "banked," up to a maximum of 10 levels. For all intents and purposes, you're stuck at level 20, and don't gain any more XP past the 10 banked levels, but subscribing to the game automatically grants you those levels. Additionally, any XP you do obtain is calculated as if you were level 20, and no higher.
So had he not been on a starter account banking those extra 10 levels, he would have gained diminishing experience until level 26 or so when the worms would no longer grant experience. As it was, he was able to sub once he had 10 banked levels, and hit level 30.
Goblin characters don't join the Horde until the end of the Kezan storyline, so, like Doubleagent, he was effectively Neutral. This prevented Nobb from queuing for dungeons, Battlegrounds, or PvP of any kind. So what he did was he ingeniously picked up and completed account-wide daily Pet Battle quests on alts, and then logged over to Nobb to turn them in remotely.
Some of them can only be battled by characters of a specific faction, but can still be turned in remotely by a character of the opposite faction. It took about a couple weeks of constant turn-ins to get to level 39 with this method, but I managed it, and I'd be lying if I didn't admit I was proud I did!
There are five daily pet quests that can be turned in remotely on an unaffiliated or opposite faction character:
Bill Pavois
Dagra la Féroce
Eric Davidson
Lindsay
Le vieux MacDonald
Once he reached Level 39 he was able to learn
Animaux exotiques
as a Beast Mastery Hunter, and tamed a few of those aforementioned Tunneling Worms to keep him company. I mean, who wouldn't want to hang out with friends named Kajaborus and Worminator?
Now that he has reached level 50, he has run into a bit of a hitch: once a character reaches current content level, experience from other sources is severely reduced. That includes account-wide daily Pet Battle quests. This means that it will take him around
43 days to grind to level 51
. And it will only get worse after that. That's daunting, even for the most persistent goblins.
(Oh, also if anyone knows another way to gain XP on alts where mining and herbalism aren't possible, feel free to share it with me so I can expedite the process a bit more, that'd be great, thx)
Any ideas? Let him know in the comments.
Nobb has been documenting his progress on
Reddit
and talked about getting the tame on
Petopia
and in the comments on our
Ver tunnelier
page.
