Jaithys, the Prison Blade Whispers to Players When Consuming Other Weapons
22/06/2021 à 18:22
Several of the special effect raid weapons are now located on the Trinketaur vendor in Oribos on the Patch 9.1 PTR, giving us the opportunity to figure out exactly how weapons like
will work! While much of our
earlier speculation based on datamining
turned out to be correct, there are a few hidden secrets contained within the Prison Blade.
The animation whenever the
proc from Jaithys deals damage.
As previously covered, each time Jaithys consumes another weapon to empower itself, the amount of secondary stats on the sword are reduced in exchange for a damage dealing proc and strength buff at higher levels, effectively keeping the already high item level raid weapon balanced. There's no longer any intermittent
, as the sword simply consumes the material and empowers automatically. Like most non-class abilities, the
scale with Strength or benefit from class spells like
, but the empowerment is now much stronger than originally seen in our database, with the normal 233 item level version dealing around 3,500 damage (reduced by armor) at rank 4 and making the statistical tradeoff much more rewarding. For dual wielding Fury Warriors, it also appears that dual wielding the weapons combines the procs - dealing double damage and strength, instead of proccing separately.
The final version is clearly bugged, but based on spell data it should be similar to rank 4, but with a higher proc rate.
It isn't immediately clear what items are considered worthy by the Prison Blade
- so far, no green quality weapons tested have worked, and only some higher item level blues have. There doesn't appear to be a consistent item level requirement, as non-raid epics from season 1 world quests below ~item level 200 did not feed, but 184 blue quest items did, as well as all Castle Nathria weapons, including those from LFR difficulty, and new weapons from Sanctum of Domination. Interestingly,
is not considered worthy, though that may just be a check to ensure you can't eat legendary items! Because of the wide array of Nathria and Mythic+ weapons which do work though, empowering the weapon should not be difficult whatsoever, although it should be noted that there does not appear to be a way to revert the weapon back to its unfed state, making each upgrade a
But wait, there's more! With each empowerment players will also hear a a fully voiced whisper coming from the sword! They appear randomized, but the voice lines heard so far all appear to reference the names of Naxxramas and Icecrown Citadel weapons:
. Wrath of the Lich King Classic confirmed?!
Keep the cryptmaker busy.
Another broken promise.
Look upon me, and see your demise!
You feed your damnation.
They said I was dull. Who has the last laugh now?
Can you feel the calamity's grasp?
This will be your final voyage.
