The Legendary Shipwright
When you have completed all requirements for the Kul Tiran Human Allied Race in Patch 8.1.5, Lady Jaina Proudmoore will have the quest
Fabriqué en Kul Tiras
available. Although Kul Tiras had already sealed their return to the Alliance with the events of
Une nation unie
, Jaina wants to cement the bond between the nations with a grand gesture - Building King Anduin a ship worthy of the best ones in the Kul Tiran navy. When returning to Boralus and talking to Cyrus Crestfall, they remember a legendary shipwright - Dorian Atwater.
Cyrus Crestfall says: Hmm... Dorian Atwater...
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: I believe Atwater's ships were the gold standard while you were serving in my father's guard.
Cyrus Crestfall says: That was a long time ago, Lord Admiral. But the name does ring a bell...
Last Cyrus remembers, Atwater retired somewhere in Stormsong Valley, so we head to Brennadam to gather information on their whereabouts in
Le maître charpentier
Cyrus Crestfall says: I can help you in your search, but what if our mysterious shipwright refuses your request?
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: I have prepared a letter in case some persuasion is required. I suggest you take it with you.
Cyrus Crestfall says: Aye aye, Lord Admiral. Come, <player>. We'll start in Stormsong Valley, where we build every ship in the fleet.
Cyrus Crestfall says: Brennadam is a well-traveled crossroads. It's likely that Atwater has passed through here a time or two.
We then ask around Brennadam if people know of Atwater's location in
Petits potins et gros bateaux
. Although most people haven't heard of them recently, they do tell tales like them building an entire ship in a single day! Eventually, we figure out the Atwaters live somewhere around the Deadwash area. With this information in hand, we head to the Deadwash to find them in
Si j’étais un charpentier
, while Cyrus returns to Boralus to report to Jaina.
Arriving at Atwater Stead, we see a house full of elementals doing house chores, and Old Atwater gardening near the porch. However, by talking to him, we hear that the legendary Dorian Atwater is actually his wife! However, she's currently retired.
The legendary shipwright, retired and using a Fire Elemental for their true purpose.
Old Atwater says: Me? Tides, no. That's my wife. She's inside.
Dorian Atwater says: My ears still work perfectly fine, you know.
Dorian Atwater says: Looking for a shipwright, are you? Too bad. I'm retired.
After delivering Jaina's letter to Dorian, she is convinced, and we prepare to leave in
Vogue la galère
by saddling Dorian's horse, Hurricane.
Dorian Atwater says: You'll find ol' Hurricane in the yard. Don't worry, he's not as wild as his name implies. Well, not quite.
Dorian Atwater yells: Sal! Where'd I leave my tools?
Hurricane snorts irritably.
Hurricane stomps away from you with an indignant whinny.
Sal Atwater says: Out back, dearest!
Dorian Atwater mutters something about back pain under her breath.
Dorian Atwater says: Aren't you just the sweetest little horse in the valley? Yes, you are!
Dorian Atwater says: You know the drill, Sal. Get the cart and meet me at the lumber mill.
Sal Atwater says: Be gentle with <player>, sweet pea.
Once we arrive in Tidecross, the lumber mill is taken by forces of the void! We prepare Port Fogtide by dispatching the void forces in
Les créatures des profondeurs
and set fog totems around the port in
Voiler nos mâts
. After Port Fogtide is ready for construction, we need lots and lots of lumber, and according to Dorian, the only place that can handle such a request in such short notice is the Algerson Lumber Yard, right outside of Boralus. We head there in
Une belle charpente
, and Dorian puts the workers at the lumber yard to work in the old Kul Tiran way. However, the lumber yard is still full of drust creatures.
Dorian Atwater says: All right boys. Go on and set us up.
Dorian Atwater says: You're making this harder than it needs to be, Maynard.
Dorian Atwater says: Lads, there's a pile of gold and pint of ale in it for everyone who lends me a hand.
Dorian Atwater says: And you made it sound like they didn't want to be useful.
While Dorian helps dispatch the creatures, we help gather piles of lumber in
. Dorian shows that besides her age, she is still quite the skilled tidesage! After bringing the lumber back to Sal's cart, we find out that the lumber is quite haunted with drust magic.
Carrying piles of lumber is hard work!
Sal Atwater says: Hello, pumpkin.
Dorian Atwater says: Did you have any trouble getting these rocks to move?
Sal Atwater: they were quite helpful, actually. Ah... dearest?
Dorian Atwater says: What is it, Sal?
Sal Atwater says: I think this lumber is haunted.
With the lumber haunted, we set to Drustvar to see ways to cleanse it up with the Thornspeakers in
Ce bois est hanté
. While we are there, we're also asked to go to Bleak Hills Mine to see what we need to go to get a metal ore shipment going in
Les collines Désolées
The Haunted Lumber
Thornspeaker Birchgrove believes that the wood is cursed thanks to the lingering influence of Gorak Tul, and we need to fill a drust vessel for the cleansing ritual in
L’influence de Gorak Tul
by killing mobs in Gol Koval. After gathering the drust magic, we're sent to the High Thornspeaker, Ulfar, in
L’équilibre en toute chose
. Arthur Tradewind, the druid responsible for bringing us to Ulfar, talks a bit about the vessel on our way to him, as well as some bit of gossip.
Arthur Tradewind says: Sure thing! Hop on!
Arthur Tradewind says: That's a spooky looking bit of magic you've got going on there.
Arthur Tradewind says: Makes my back itch.
Arthur Tradewind says: Ulfar will know what to do with it. Probably.
Arthur Tradewind says: Told on, this ride is aboutr to get a little bumpy.
Arthur Tradewind says: You're on an errand from Dorian, right?
Arthur Tradewind says: I always wanted to meet her. The Thornspeakers tell some interesting stories!
Arthur Tradewind says: Like how she and Ulfar met. Hah, that's a good one. Yeah.
Arthur Tradewind says: ... I'm not supposed to talk about that, though.
Arthur Tradewind says: Anyway, I keep trying to convince Ulfar that a goat form would be amazing.
Arthur Tradewind says: But he always starts talking about "dignity" and I stop listening.
Arthur Tradewind says: Luckily for you, I'm as sure-footed as they come.
Arthur Tradewind says: Just... don't look down.
Arthur Tradewind says: Nearly there!
Arthur Tradewind says: Tell Ulfar I say hello!
When arriving to Ulfar, he starts a ritual to cleanse the lumber sample. You will help him by collecting life orbs while avoiding death orbs around the lumber.
Ulfar manages to clear the haunted tree sample with a life ritual.
Ulfar says: The power you bring here is weighted heavily against life.
Ulfar says: We must tip the scales.
Ulfar says: This land is generous, and strong, and its hearts thrums beneath us!
Ulfar says: The balance... does not move... easily...
Ulfar says: But where there is death, there is also life!
Ulfar says: An inescapable cycle, as sure as the sea is vast!
Ulfar says: No creature can thwart it for long. Back, foul magic!
Ulfar says: Ah... the cycle... continues.
With the cleansing complete, Ulfar says he will meet you in Stormsong with the rest of the Thornspeakers, to cleanse the entire lumber!
The Bleak Hills
We find Chelsea Wright being cornered by a wicker beast, that steals her keys to the Bleak Hills Mine storehouse. We then follow the wicker beast to retrieve the key in
Bas les pattes !
. The wicker beast is, actually, the same one from the
questline, and he just wants someone to play with! We walk the wicker beast around in
Une vie de chien
while finding its toys, and finally return, who actually recognizes the beast, who was named Princess in life! Chelsea gives us the key to the storehouse in
Les clés du problème
, while she celebrates Princess' "return".
A bond between a pet and their master goes beyond death.
Chelsea Wright says: Princess...? Is that you?
Chelsea Wright says: By the tides, it really is you!
Chelsea Wright says: Thank you, <player>. Thank you so much.
After we get the ore, one of Dorian's Air Elementals arrives with a
La convocation de Dorlan
A Worthy Crew for the Ship
We then return to Port Fogtide, when the ship's construction is already underway, with Jaina witnessing the process!
Dorian Atwater says: Should be done by day's end. Sooner, if you stay out of my way.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: That quickly? How is that possible?
Dorian Atwater says: I make it a point not to share my methods, Lord Admiral.
Sal Atwater says: She's just a tad shy, ma'am. Pay her no mind. Would you like some warm milk while you wait?
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Ah... yes. Thank you.
Jaina then sends you to talk to Tandred in Boralus, in
La convocation de Dorlan
. She wants the best of the best to serve as a crew for Anduin's ship, and she trusts Tandred with this task.
Tandred Proudmoore says: Aye, I was just thinking on her request.
Tandred Proudmoore says: I've a few in mind, but some of them might take more convincing than others.
Tandred Proudmoore says: Brother Pike is currently here in Boralus. He's my first choice for a tidesage. No ship sails without one.
Tandred Proudmoore says: For my master gunner, I'll have none other than Lieutenant Tarenfold. He should still be stationed at Vigil Hill.
Tandred Proudmoore says: Meet me at Outrigger Post, where we can find the rest of our crew.
Brother Pike is next to The Relentless' port in Tradewinds Market, and he accepts the offer as a point to attempt to rebuild the reputation of the tidesages, tainted by the misdeeds of Lord Stormsong.
Brother Pike says: It has been too long since I have stood upon the seas.
Brother Pike says: The legacy of the tidesages has been tainted, but perhaps I can help rebuild it.
Brother Pike says: Besides, how could I refuse the Lord Admiral's brother?
Lieutenant Tarenfold is, predictably, helping hold Vigil Hill. After the marines at the area assure they can hold the hill without him just fine, Tarenfold accepts the offer to become the master gunner of the new ship!
Lieutenant Tarenfold says: And leave this gate undefended?
Vigil Hill Marine says: You've been taking pot shots at parrots for a while now, sir.
Vigil Hill Marine says: We're more than capable of holding the hill.
Lieutenant Tarenfold says: Hmph. Point taken.
Lieutenant Tarenfold says: Alright, lads and lasses. Looks like I'm off to sea.
At the Outrigger's Post, we recruit the Outriggers, led by Rosaline Madison, who previously helped counter the Horde attack on Tiragarde Sound during the
8.1 Alliance War Campaign
. Rosaline agrees after learning being the captain of the new ship means giving the Horde payback.
Rosaline Madison says: You want me to be your WHAT?
Tandred Proudmoore says: I know how it sounds, but I need a first mate I can count on! And that means you!
Rosaline Madison says: You expect me to be flattered? I'm a captain. The Outriggers are my crew.
Tandred Proudmoore says: They'll still be your crew! I want all of you on my ship when we set sail under the Alliance's flag.
Rosaline Madison says: The Alliance? Does that mean we'll be giving the Horde some payback?
Tandred Proudmoore says: Well... I would assume so, yes.
Rosaline Madison says: Lead with that next time, Captain.
Tandred Proudmoore says: Hah! Excellent. I couldn't ask for a finer crew. Pack up and follow me.
Tandred Proudmoore says: <player>, there's someone else I want to recruit. Meet me at Port Fotgide once you've spoken to everyone.
The person Tandred was talking about is the boatswain, the responsible for maintaining the ship's equipment. Tandred recruited none other than the woman herself, Dorian Atwater.
Captain Tandred Proudmoore says: Name a better boatswain and I'll take them instead. You wanted the best. You are the best.
Dorian Atwater says: I'm retired.
Captain Tandred Proudmoore says: How can you build something this magnificent and not want to sail it into ths sunset? She's beautiful!
Dorian Atwater says: You're not going to let this go, are you?
Captain Tandred Proudmoore says: Not a chance.
Sal Atwater says: I can mind the house, dear. Go on. Have an adventure.
Dorian Atwater says: Fine. But you'll be getting an earful if you damage my ship.
Naming and Blessing the Ship
After the crew is fully assembled, it is time to name the ship. Four names are thrown around for you to choose from.
You are responsible for naming the ship, and this choice is PERMANENT
La bénédiction des marées
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: She needs a name, as all great ships do. Any suggestions?
Rosaline Madison says:
. The Horde will learn to fear her!
Brother Pike says: She seems like a
Captain Tandred Proudmoore says: The Alliance is fond of its lions. How does
Katherine Proudmoore says:
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: That's beautiful, mother.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: They all have merit. The choice is yours, <player>.
* Note: Tiffin's Melody is named after Tiffin Ellerian Wrynn, Varian's wife and Anduin's mother, who passed away during the Stonemasons' Guild riots in Stormwind. Tiffin's untimely death left a deep impact on Varian and forced the Stonemasons' Guild to flee Stormwind and hide in Westfall to avoid prosecution.
After choosing the ship's name, Brother Pike blesses it, and we're ready to sail the ship to Stormwind!
The ship receives the Tidesages' blessing.
The Gift to the King
We sail to Stormwind to deliver the ship to King Anduin in
L’allégeance de Kul Tiras
The Alliance leaders unite to celebrate the Kul Tirans' arrival.
King Anduin Wrynn says: When you asked to meet me at the harbor, I had no idea what you had in mind. This is incredible!
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Kul Tiras and the Alliance once shared a bond of friendship. Now both of our peoples will see that bond reforged.
King Anduin Wrynn says: I can think of no grander gesture, Lord Admiral.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: She is yours to command, as is her crew. They will serve you on behalf of Kul Tiras.
King Anduin Wrynn says: Thank you, Lord Admiral. I welcome all of you to the Alliance.
Anduin alsohas different reactions, depending on what name you chose for the ship:
King Anduin Wrynn says: What is her name?
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Anduin's Wrath.
King Anduin Wrynn says: It certainly sends a powerful message. May her enemies give her a wide berth.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Dawnsailor.
King Anduin Wrynn says: And into the dawn she will sail.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Tiffin's Melody.
King Anduin Wrynn says: Oh... Jaina.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Lionheart.
King Anduin Wrynn says: May she be as steadfast as my father.
