Mankrik's Wife Found in the Shadowlands Beta

One of the biggest memes created within WoW has seemingly found a final resolution in the Shadowlands: Mankrik's Wife has (finally) been found!
Olgra's Location in the Shadowlands
The Arbiter has seemingly judged Olgra as someone with a warlike soul, and as such, she was sent to Maldraxxus!
Décimatrice Olgra
can be found at the Burning Thicket, in the western end of Maldraxxus. She's now a gladiator for the Undying Army, and is in the area squishing Ranishu mobs.
When spoken to, Olgra mentions that "Their screams aren't as satisfying as quillboar, but they'll do", mentioning the Ranishu in the area as she slaughters through them.
Olgra's Backstory
Olgra was initially mentioned in-game in Classic WoW, during the Barrens quest
Disparition au combat
. In this quest, given by her husband Mankrik, it is told to us that Mankrik and Olgra were fighting against a horde of quilboar, when they eventually became overwhelmed by then. Mankrik managed to lead some of them away, but Olgra was overwhelmed, which sent Mankrik into a fit of rage and fought until he passed out. Mankrik was awakened by a druid, but his wife was nowhere in sight, and thus this is our objective.
Back in Classic WoW, there wasn't much in the way of helping players find quest objectives - There were no quest trackers in-game, and addons that served that purpose were rare. Because of this, the question "Where is Mankrik's wife?" was a common one in the general chat in The Barrens. Considering back then, Olgra was simply known as a
Cadavre battu
, that did not help alleviate the confusion. Because of this, Mankrik's Wife became one of the first memes created in WoW.
In Cataclysm, the original quest to find Mankrik's Wife was removed from the game, but a
Humble monument
was erected in her honor by Mankrik in the now Northern Barrens. With this monument, we also learn of her name: Olgra.
<The small grave marker is lovingly inscribed with orcish runes.>
- BELOVED OLGRA -
Wife of Mankrik
It took forever to find you
And now you are gone
Olgra also makes a small appearance in the alternate timeline of Draenor during the Warlords of Draenor expansion: In the Nagrand quest
Perdus en Nagrand
, Mankrik asks us to find his girlfriend, Olgra. Olgra's family was murdered in the alternate timeline, but Olgra herself managed to survive, asking us to kill the assassin,
Peau-de-Worg le Sauvage
, in the quest
Soif de vengeance
. Their ending is a bit happier in the alternate timeline, with Mankrik and Olgra reunited, and Mankrik swearing he will never let Olgra out of his sight again.
Olgra says: Thank you for sending the commander, Mankrik.
Mankrik says: I don't ever want us to be apart again.
Blood Guard Ehanes says: Good on you, kid.
Olgra's "Announcement" At BlizzCon
It has been known that Olgra would appear at some point since BlizzCon 2019, where
Lead Narrative Steve Danuser mentioned Mankrik's wife on a lore interview with The Lost Codex
.
Aside from the already mentioned Uther, Draka, Cenarius, and Kael'thas, will other dead characters have a frequent major or minor role in the expansion?
One of the themes while developing Shadowlands is to make the story more than just a collection of random stories. Many important characters have fallen throughout the history of Warcraft, but they're trying to focus on major storylines which are still relevant today (e.g. Uther, Draka), while also peppering in some lesser characters tragedy and interaction. For example, a certain Classic WoW character's wife which has become something of a cult classic might be one of those minor, easter egg-like things they might pursue. Not spoiling any of the big stuff though!
<Vengeance of the Vanquished>
Olgra's title in the Shadowlands, <Vengeance of the Vanquished>, is a reference to the fake game announced by Blizzard during the April Fools of 2014,
Outcasts: Vengeance of the Vanquished
. This was a fighting game with Olgra as one of the fighters added in the joke announcement.
