Stranglethorn Vale in Unreal Engine 4
30/05/2020 à 16:49
3D artist and ambient music fan Darek Zahálka has recreated the jungle zone of Stranglethorn Vale in Unreal Engine 4. Recreating game worlds inside Unreal has become very popular in recent years, as we recently saw with
, and although these fan recreations are usually not completely true to Blizzard's art style, they make a good example of the high level of detail that the World of Warcraft could have in Unreal Engine 4.
An interesting note about Darek Zahálka's creation is the ambient music used in the background, instead of WoW's soundtrack. The full YouTube video isn't even called Stranglethorn Vale, but rather "Relaxing jungle fly-through with soothing guitar and birdsong." He's even published a
blog on the power of ambient music
, which might be interesting if you're looking for something new to listen to working at home!
I found myself always on the consumer side of relaxing fly-throughs and ambient music. But as a 3D artist, I just couldn't hold myself back from producing something in that genre. I teamed up with my friend, a guitar virtuoso, and we have created this audiovisual meditation.
As the head designer of Sentien Audio, I also published a blog post on the topic of ambient music and the way to incorporate it into our daily lives.
You can find the blog here (4min read):
ps: the jungle is based on Stranglethorn Vale :)
