Valheim Art Inspired by Stormwind Harbor
05/03/2021 à 11:02
Many of us have been playing
lately, the new procedurally-generated exploration and survival game from
Iron Gate Studio
. Valheim sets you up as a battle-slain Viking warrior tasked with slaying creatures of chaos and enemies of the gods in the afterlife. If this sounds familiar, it should - for is this not pretty much our task in Shadowlands? The similarity here speaks to an interesting cultural theme in our society at the moment...but that's a different article for another day. The reason we are talking about it today is that Redditor
ericxsg posted these images
of a replica Stormwind Harbor that they built in Valheim:
Many of us -- artists, writers, creators -- take inspiration from World of Warcraft. ericxsg's homage, which took over 30 hours to complete, is quite splendid right down to the blue and gold banners! They had World of Warcraft open in a second monitor to get all the details. Our harbor lion is under construction. The Night Elf gate marks their pier. There is even a structure similar to the shipyard at the end of the dock.
ericxsg found ways to "float" their piers by raising the ground under the water. Getting the whole project to work took trial and error, for example they had to figure out how far away to park the boats from the pier so that they wouldn't get damaged, and they found a way to sandwich raised ground between stone and wood structure to prevent the wood from degrading. Your average player may find farming enough mats to create something like this daunting, but ericxsg explains that they used Creative mode which allowed them to build for free:
Press F5 and type in “imacheater” to enable cheats “Godmode” “Debugmode” - enables flying when you press Z, unlimited resources and build almost anywhere with you press B, kill all nearby enemies when you press K
Obviously ericxsg is a member of the Alliance and was inspired to create this gorgeous nod to our blue faction.
