Zereth Mortis Storyline - Chapters 6 and 7 of Patch 9.2 Questline (Story Spoilers)

The sixth and seventh chapters are available for testing on the latest PTR build of Patch 9.2, Eternity's End. We went through both available chapters in this post.

Chapter 6: A Means to an End
Chapter 6 of the Zereth Mortis campaign starts with the quest

, in which Pelagos asks us to go to Exile's Hollow quickly, as something wonderful is happening with the Oracle we originally found in Chapter 3. As we arrive in Exile's Hollow, we see the Oracle channeling energies from several orbs, and our Pocopoc unit soon joins these.
You're asked to examine the orbs channeling to the Oracle in

, and once the examination is over, you're met with a in-game cutscene. The Oracle you retrieved is named Saezurah, and in this mysterious cutscene, Saezurah initially speaks in many languages we know about, eventually revealing there is a vessel she is seeking, and this vessel is in peril.

Saezurah: (Draconic) Rethul.
Saezurah: (Demonic) Kasharu.
Saezurah: (Shath'Yar) An'qoth.
Saezurah: Vessel.
Saezurah: Vessel.

Saezurah: The song seeks a voice.
Saezurah: Ascend.
Saezurah: Reclaim.
Saezurah: Restore.
Pocopoc: Wallow. Hollow. No... follow. The mortal shall follow.
Pocopoc: The vessel, in peril. Make haste.
Pocopoc, serving as Saezurah's minion, starts trailing around Zereth Mortis, and you must chase it around in

. As we chase around Pocopoc and defend it from devourers, the unit gives us some answers in cryptic dialogue.
Pocopoc: Destruction. Defilement. The pattern in fractals.

We finally arrive with Pocopoc at the Resonant Peaks, where a strange UI with cyphers and a Cosmic Energy bar is displayed. We're asked by Pocopoc to retrieve nearby Cosmic Energy to fill this bar in

and to kill Devourers in the area in

. The cosmic energy can be gathered by either standing in the cosmic fields, or killing the devourers devouring the field area. Killing these devourers will make them emit cosmic orbs, just walk over them to collect cosmic energy.
You will then learn how the teleportation system in Resonant Peaks works in

. Each cypher used by the Cosmic Energy bar above signals a location you have yet to unlock. You use 30 Cosmic Energy to port from one location to another, and in this quest, you will ascend through all Locus levels up until the tallest level in Resonant Peaks, the Ultimus Locus. You will run out of Cosmic Energy along the way, but there are more cosmic pools and devourers to refill your bar as you travel through the Loci.
As you travel through the Loci, you will also find the quest

, which will have you control an automa to help you locate one of the runes.
Once you arrive at Ultimus Locus, you will gain the quest

, which requires you to search 3 additional cyphers around Ultimus Locus, which ware used to open the door to what is being protected there - the Vessel Saezurah was looking for.
However, as we claim the Vessel, the devourers eating Resonant Peaks ascend to the top of the mountain! You must use Pocopoc's defense system to defend the Vessel and eventually make an escape from a giant devourer in
Vous illuminez ma vie
. With Pocopoc and the Vessel returned to the safety of Exile's Hollow, we use the rest of the Cosmic Energy gathered by Pocopoc to fully revive Saezurah in

. This quest ends Chapter 6, with Saezurah revealing that the collected Vessel must be remade into a new Arbiter.
You're then sent to Haven to talk to Bolvar in

, who asks you to help the Oracle with whatever she needs.

Pelagos: We will do everything we can to help. You have my word.
Saezurah: A vessel of judgment is required. The missing fractal must be replaced. The geometry made whole.
Pelagos: A vessel of judgment... Do you mean... the Arbiter? But how?
Saezurah: All that is Eternal was forged in Zereth Mortis. Archon. Primus. Winter Queen. Sire. And... Arbiter.
Saezurah: The vessel is destined to replace that which was lost. But first, the vessel must be filled. Preparations are required.
Saezurah: Patience. Perseverance. When the hour is at hand, my song will echo once more.
Chapter 7: Starting Over
Chapter 7 starts in Haven, with Bolvar sending you back to Exile's Hollow in

. In there, Saezurah talks to us in

, detailing the plan to create a new Arbiter - She seeks a soul resting in the Crypt of the Eternal, and only combining this soul with the Vessel, will we have a new Arbiter of the Shadowlands.
Firim: You are certain that this is possible?
Saezurah: This land is possibility.
Firim: A new Arbiter... to think I will observe something of this magnitude!
Saezurah: A symphony of creation needs voices joined in chorus. One, we possess. The other, we do not.
Saezurah: The vessel seeks a soul. One that slumbers in the Crypts of the Eternal. Only with both will the Arbiter sing again.
We then seek additional help from the Enlightened and the Covenants to breach the Crypts of the Eternal in

. Firim believes his Enlightened brethren won't be willing to help with this mission, as they believe the creations of the first ones are not to be touched, only observed.
With Kleia already pledging the Kyrian to our cause, we venture through Zereth Mortis with Pelagos to ask the other Covenants for help. As the other Covenants accept to help us, they reflect on what a new Arbiter would mean to them - Nadjia the Mistblade for the Venthyr, Droman Aliothe for the Night Fae, and Secutor Mevix for the Necrolords.
Pelagos: A new Arbiter... a chance to restore balance to the Shadowlands...
Pelagos: Could there be any greater act of service?
Pelagos: With a new Arbiter in place, I hope every soul finds the afterlife they truly deserve.

Nadjia: Let us hope your plan works. Revendreth needs anima--and for that, we need souls that deserve redemption.
Pelagos: Nadjia has a point. But if you ask me... well, I think every soul deserves redemption.

Aliothe: We have always watched over the great cycle. I hope that this new Arbiter will do the same.
Pelagos: To watch over the great cycle... the Arbiter's decisions affect more than just souls, but the Shadowlands entire.

Mevix: Let's see if this new Arbiter proves strong enough for the task ahead.
Pelagos: Mevix is right. The Arbiter must have the strength and resolve to do what must be done.
With the Covenants rallied, we arrive once again at the Endless Sands, this time to reach the Crypts of the Eternal. We start by fleeing uncorrupted Automa Scryers from the forces of the Maw in

, but... as we're stabilizing the ritual, a Dreadlord invades the chamber, and corrupts the Vessel, instead putting in the soul of Argus into it! This version of Argus has many abilities similar to his fight in Antorus, such as Cone of Death and Soul Conduits. As you kill Conduits, your allies join you in the fight, making Argus take in increased damage. Eventually, the death Titan falls, but the song of the Arbiter's ritual is also silent with it.
Saezurah: The time has come. The halls have healed. A new Arbiter waits in the wings.
Saezurah: The chorus assembles. The vessel awaits. Your voice must join them.
Saezurah: Dissonance... a melody lost long ago...
Darkseer Corrupter: Long have we awaited this moment. The Banished One's gambit made manifest...
Pelagos: Something is interfering with the ritual!
Darkseer Corrupter: A world-soul twisted by Death. A maul with which to crush the Arbiter...
Darkseer Corrupter: And now it shall take this vessel! Arbus will be Eternal!

Echo of Argus: Is it... over?
Saezurah: The song... is silent.
Saezurah speaks in riddles again in
Un moment décisif
, and the Covenant forces suggest we attempt to start the ritual once again, but the Automa Scryers used to power up the ritual were destroyed in the fight against Argus. Upon examining the Vessel, the soul meant to go within was also destroyed by the Nathrezim. All hope is seemingly lost, as their original plan can no longer come to fruition.
However, as everyone ponders what could be done to repair the Arbiter, someone offers their own soul in

: Pelagos. Pelagos mentions that there must have been a reason he never managed to ascend, and willingly offers himself to take the place of the Arbiter. Saezurah finishes the ritual herself, and Pelagos is ascended as the new Arbiter of the Shadowlands.
Kleia: Pelagos? Are you... still you?
The Arbiter: Yes, Kleia. I am whom I have always been... and yet so much more.
The Arbiter: My path has become clear. I must take my place in Oribos.
Kleia: Go in service, brother of my heart. We will meet you there.
The Arbiter: Farewell, my friends.
Saezurah: The pattern is made whole. We return and continue.
Firim returns us to Exile's Hollow in

, amazed by what we accomplished at the Crypts of the Eternal. Kleia wants to go to Oribos to see Pelagos in his new position in

. Pelagos seems happy to have found his purpose, even joking around how he needs to apologize to Adrestes for never being able to become an acolyte.
This quest ends Chapter 7. With the Arbiter reinstated, the flow of souls in the Shadowlands is restored. But, one thing remains... Zovaal.
