Excellent questions! I love hearing the reasoning behind some of the things the devs did (and didn't) do.
It was nice to learn about the Legendary Quest chain.
The ban on flights in Draenor - it must be a joke. Why then introduced flying mount for the collector's edition? And I think that the emphasis on garrisons in addition - not the best idea.
I wonder if there will be any new netherwing quests.
Great interview!
Disabling flying in Draenor is 1 step closer to bring back World PvP like it used to before Cataclysm (the expansion when you were able to fly in every zone).I personally really enjoyed Timeless Isle for these simple reasons:1. The place was being crowded.2. Flying were disabled.3. You could kill players no matter what faction by using the Bloody Coin items. For Draenor, it will literally take years to get some Gladiator's Sanctum titles ( Guide to Medium Garrison Buildings#achievements-and-titles ) by world PvP'ing in Draenor if they enabled flying.Sure, being able to fly was super-amazing in TBC. But the change countered the fun of World PvP.- It made it much easier to flee from enemy players. Night Elf druids who are just using Shadowmeld --> Fly Form when they're about to die. Same with hunters who can just use freeze trap --> feign death --> mount up with a flying mount. Most of the classes are being able to use a CC --> run away from the target --> get out of combat --> then mount up and fly away. It ruins a huge part of PvP.As you can tell, I support the idea of having flying disabled in Draenor to 100%. I get the others point of view as well, because those who are against the flying mode being disabled doesn't seem to be interested in World PvP at all. Some are more into discovering and exploring the environment. Some are just being lazy, knowing it will take some minutes to ride to a place without a flying mount. Which I truly understand. But from what I've understood, this expansion is a bit about to bring back the "old" World of Warcraft.
I am actually very excited for no flying. Kind of takes me back to vanilla. I also get to show off my rare ground mounts that have been collecting dust!
Wow, everything Blizzard's been doing in WoD makes so much more sense after that Jeremy Feasel interview. Everyone was telling these cookie-cutter type garrison builds, but screw that man! Imma get all the toys! XD
Hope that heroic dungeons become hard as BC or WOTLK, those were awesome dungeons
Totally commenting for a chance to win some loot.
All hail Field Marshal Afrasiabi.
I really hope they don't bring back a lvl 100 version of the Timeless Isle. While quickly gearing up alts as soon as they hit 90 was nice. I was getting to SoO without even entering MSV, HoF, or Terrace. I am a fan of gear progression however slow it is.
In terms of quests if they want to bring people together, they should'nt exactly take the Timeless Isle-route.True, it's a cool island, with interesting things, but I went there always only to finish certain tasks and then get away as fast as possible, because of the constant PvP ganking everywhere. The only times I got into parties there were for raids, rares and reputation/epoch stone farm. How about some special daily and even better weekly rewards for going to legacy raids with at least 4 other people? That would encourage lots of people to form parties and have fun enjoying older raids in the process.
On the flying front. I can understand no flying until 100 maybe like MoP but to put a stop to flying period is wrong. And before the vanilla comments of "We walked and rode everywhere" start, so did I... But I don't like to be made to explore content, i'll do it in my own time thanks, I have an expansion to do it..From what I hear everyone is just going to camp in their garrisons until flying is released anyway. So they aren't really accomplishing much.
Can't wait to see BE's new model. I love this kind of interview!
I do believe we will be able to fly in WoD :DNot in the first month, and probably not in the first year, but fly we will.Blizzard made a mistake when they gave flying for granted on Cata and MoP. Flying should be a reward for dedicated players (and i don't mean hardcore, just dedicated) that got to max level, explored the world and learned about the "new" content.I know that galloping among low level mobs to get to your awesomemaxlvldestination sucks, but that is why we have flight paths and, really, if there is nothing annoying in the game, the rewards will feel lessened because what make them "so awesome" is that they are so much better than "the rest of the content".It would be cool to have a quest line by the end of 6.2 to unfold the mysteries of flying in Draenor (and that could, maybe, give the reward to all max lvls in your account).A kind of "mini legendary" (as we used to have for swift flight form, and the pally mount), with level + lore + exploring requirements.Overall, i know i will miss flying when WoD hits, and i will maybe dream about flying when i get to lvl 100 but, as our parents did when they denied us some stuff that we were not yet ready to have, Blizzard will keep me away from that, and help me to enjoy their word in the best possible way, so when they finally allow me to fly it will be a reward that will really be meaningful and well timed.
Very interesting interview, thanks.
You guys asked some great questions! Interesting info on the legendary quest chains, questing in general. Can't wait to see the chapter quests. I like the fact that it sounds like stuff for the garrisons are not just more dailies like we saw with the farm. Hopefully they can find that happy medium with dailies between launch of MoP and Timeless Isle.
I JUST now learned where the Great Fras Siabi came from
