I think it's pretty clear that we have to finish dealing with the Old Gods and the void. And I think we're going to have get to kill Jaina as well. She still has had to face a whopping ZERO consequences for murdering innocent Horde citizens in the streets of Dalaran after the theft of the Divine Bell, then she basically ragequit the Kirin Tor after we were allowed back into the city.
I think a void xpac would be pretty cool. I also think that an underwater xpac could be interesting (if it's better than Vashj'ir).
No doubt next expansion will be about old gods (Nzoth if guess). And i hope we will get new mechanics - ships. My Captain title and admiral hat are tired of waiting. Also hope we will get more dragon storylines. They they they haven't abbandoned and forgotten that theme.
I know a lot of people are talking about Jaina but well that's what I think too :p That she'll return, but in my mind I imagine her coming stronger (or bringing forces) as an ally, in a crucial moment that will make the difference in defeating the Legion. I still have faith in her! Also yes, we're missing old gods and a void patch/xpac would be great. Can imagine a whole world in the void side, sounds fun. (In the same way, I imagine a whole world how green dragons see it - the emerald dream. Despite we had a lot of emerald nightmare related stuff, I still expect an Emerald Dream xpac!)
I definitely see an Old Gods expansion and pund the corner. And we have to figure out what to do about Azshara. I hope we get more Sylvanas content though, she hasn't had enough story since becoming warchief.
"South Seas Expansion" has been the go-to speculation for so many years that it feels like a meme, but it actually seems pretty likely this time. Although "South Seas" might be too grand. If they can blow the itty-bitty Warcraft RTS Broken Isles into six zones, they may do the same for Kul Tiras.
I have a feeling our story will involve the Old Gods & Lady Jaina Proudmoore as key figures. Jaina is one my favorite Alliance leaders, and I am looking forward to how the story unfolds.
I would really love to see the main Kalimdor & Eastern Kingdoms (aka: The lower 48) scale by level as introduced in Legion. Also hoping for either a Neutral player faction or at least another race Ethereal? Naga? High, Nightfall, or Half-Elf? that can be either Horde or Alliance. A wider range of skin colors for players to choose from would be appreciated by many I'm sure.I would hate to see Sylvanas fall, as I have learned more about her story & what drives her I've gained a real appreciation for her.
I don't want to believe Jaina is with the Old Gods. I'd be interested in seeing if there's a piece we don't know, ala Snape and there being a reason for her actions we do not yet understand. And, if she is with the Old Gods, then damn.
To me, I'd really like to see any expansion focus on Sylvanas. Why? She seems to be a key part in everything, but always a bridesmaid. It seems that she only cares about what's important to her, and I'd like to see her be a major player in putting an end to the Legion and trying to take over... everything. It'd be cool to see her and Jaina face off - we survived Legion... now... how exactly do we take on someone who always has her arrows in the right place?
Now the question is............. wrathion...
Dang it. I wrote a massive explanation about what I thought the next expansion would have, only to have the website eat it on me. Here's the quick version. The story of the next expansion is one of in-faction and in-race fighting for supremacy, based over the whispers of the newly empowered Old Gods. These whispers lead to doubt among the leaders of all races not just in their faction, but within their own cities. Azshara acts as the main villain at the beginning of the expansion, with the Old Gods taking over from there later on. We learn more of the Void, but it does not yet take center stage. Each race has their own capital city where they work and base their operations from throughout their campaign, split politically based upon who you wind up supporting. Some races have a second one, Draenei for instance are split between Mac'Aree and the Exodar. Alliance gets Naga as a race, Horde gets Ethereals.Mission Tables are gone, Followers instead become something akin to SW:TOR's companions, squires that we level up and train to fight by our side, or go get us some coffee. The Artifact tree continues, becoming instead an empowerment system for weapons we create ourselves.
So far I'm pretty convinced it'll have something to do with the Old Gods, and with all the speculation about naga I sincerely hope that does not include underwater zones. As for Shadow Hunter, hardly. There's usually heal and hex involved with those, a.k.a shaman v2. If we're getting a new class... Void Hunter? :D so many hunters!
I agree with others that it seems to lead to something Void-themed for the future, but one can never be sure. I certainly wouldn't mind dealing with more Void stories, got just a tiny taste on Argus and really want more. But we might, and probably will, get something of the Old Gods as well. Now that we've been occupied by and put all our focus on the Legion the Old Gods and their servants have mostly had all the time in the world to plan something nefarious.I think the future holds a bit of both actually.
For the future story I think Jaina will end up doing something like Arthas. She's trying to do right by her people but it's just going really wrong.
It's already pretty obvious that the next expansion will feature old gods and the void, no doubt about that. As for antorus(and legion end in general), my personal opinion before any datamining was done, was that we cannot fight Sargeras, as in blizzard should not let us even have an actual fight (that would be pretty downgrading sargeras IMO). So what I thought was that we would have someone sacrifice (illidan) and somehow imprison sargeras with the help of the other titans. Still not sure what to think of azeroths wound in silithus and what role it will play, but all of the il'gonoth whispers and speculations have been very very interesting and intriguing. I really can't wait for blizzcon!
there's a quote from C'thun "you are already dead".After the next expac containing old gods, or at the end of it we'll be shown our bodies, revealing all of this was just a "dream" and we've been dead since vanilla
Most likely we're getting the Void expansion. Not sure if I like it or not, I am not sure I can cope with PURPLE everywhere. I am still waiting for Jaina Dreadlord to come out. It might happen if the Old Gods return, too many "ifs" tho. Still looking forward to BlizzCon, hopefully Blizzard will manage to blow themselves out of the water with the announcement. It would be hard to top Legion (after the disastrous WoD)
I've always thought about some kind of redemption for Illidan in the end of this expansion...Jaina hasn't shown up for some time... so I think she will reappear soon and play some role for the end of this expansion/the beginning of the next. Maybe Kul Tiras will be resumed? I hope we will play again in the old continents, they need a revamp.
Jainia and Voljin have to come back into the picture. Maybe a void-version?
