Class balance is something that should be done, all classes/specs should be viable at end-game. Some ones should shine in some situations, and some other, shoud shine in a diferents ones, but you (we) should be able to play any class, and go to do a raid, and dont get out bcse our class selection.
I'm gonna post first then go back and read the rest of the thread, but there's a really complicated world to unpack. There are definitely purists who will not play if anything is changes. Also we've no idea what patch they plan on starting on, but due to events like the opening of AQ, I expect as early as possible, essentially 1.00 barring early bugfixes. Should the classes also start at 1.00? If they don't then it's not true classic. I've seen people mention that class balance did get better later on, in the AQ and Naxx eras, but those were both over a year in. If class balance is going to be updated in the same way we remember then experienced players already know what and what not to roll. That's not even considering that a lot of classes were straight up unfun. Hell should they keep 4H the same? If they don't make class changes Warriors are mandatory, no point in rolling anything else if you want to tank raids through classic. I could go on.In short the people who would be turned off by any changes are honestly not a big enough market to care about. They want a game they remember as hard, unforgiving, and time consuming. That they seem to forget has hindsight of 11-13 years of memory to make it seem better. I'm all for Classic, but a FUN classic. In the few parts of the thread I've read so far people have said "Get rid of the need for Ammo/SS in bags", "Less eating as time filler", "Dungeon Finder would be fine, but not LFR", but literally any of those are verboten to some classic players, and one person who wanted one might hate the others.
I see the WoW Gen Wunners are as salty as the MechWarrior whiners were about that one experiment they did with MechAssault. (And yes, I played Vanilla, on Hellscream server).I don't think they should homogenize all the classes like they've done in Live, but seriously guys, if your class has a Tank spec and literally no one who knows anything about the game ever uses it, that's a massive flaw in the gameplay. It shouldn't just be "oh, we need a Tank, grab a Warrior." There should be trade-offs for taking one type of Tank over another. One class should never completely dominate a role in groups. And if that's not good enough for the frothing-mad purists, fine. Go create your private servers that have 100 people total. Blizz will be along to send you a C&D.
Well it's too much to ask for both 'blizzlike' and 'updated' classic servers, but I'd definitely vote for updated. A someone who played vanilla (Don't make me bust out my panda cub to prove it) I found the lack of viable raid specs was an insanely large flaw in the game. Especially with 40 man raids, there was no reason to not be able to bring literally every spec in the game. I've met plenty of vanilla vets who agree too so don't let these guys foaming at the mouth screaming for pure vanilla experience ruin it for the rest of us.
I started playing when BC came out, so I never had the true vanilla experience. However, what I truly miss about the game is a lot of the old world attunement quests that they took away. I loved the idea of grinding brood of Nozdormu, and Hydraxian Water Lords to unlock certain quests and attunements. I love the achievement system and that is the only thing I would want them to carry over. I worked hard for my Anathema staff, and I have to say that was one of the most satisfying moments as a Shadow Priest.
pls dont balance anything.... vanila is vanila, stop dont listen them blizzard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAx_hSIyQPk
People want vanilla experience, give them vanilla balance. Is that simple for me.
Software preservation and historical archiving is a very important matter for me, as a result I want as close to a perfectly emulated experience as possible. Vanilla WoW is such a different beast from how it has evolved, and I think that players should be able to experience the base game as it was back then. See the roots of what grew into the game today. And part of that was how clunky the game was in places. Experimental and wild and not always the most fun experience. Vanilla WoW was a very important milestone in online gaming history and I strongly feel that it is worth preserving as much of that as possible, warts and all.
i would love if blizz make a little change about something that will not break the game nor the experience of the true vanilla i just want that the max item by stack is not 20 like before but more like 200 like now
They should not touch on Balance and Quality of Life additions. Keep it as close as it was. Now as too now close is up for question...Do we allow mages to double trinket fire boom people? Do we let Shaman kite endlessly with frost shock? Do we allow the alliance to have a huge advantage in PvE progression due to bugs/abilities? Ect ect. I hope they start with the earliest workable patch and release patches in the same time-frame as they did - and with that, i hope they actually do complete server resets after last patch for vanilla. With all that said - for me the biggest thing that i miss from Vanilla WoW was the leveling and exploring experience - with making friends in the process. And i feel that leveling itch will be scratched when the new current leveling changes happen. Grinding was part of the game and it really so woven into it that i would be farming with friends for gold/items at least once a week. So do we allow Token Gold in classic servers? The impact that would cause would be insane.Because of how Vanilla was - tons of people are going to min max really hard. In raids you will see nothing but Warriors, Warlocks, Mages, Rogues and Hunters with 2 Druids for mana battery's - Some classes it is hard to justify - but who knows....maybe/hopefully people have fun with it. In the end i will try it - and probably hate what they do with it.
Hello community. Short introduction of me. I started to play wow when I was 11 years, when it came out, in my brother pc with his friend account, all to say I couldnt play that much but I still manage to level 3 characters to 60 before tbc came out. I also don't have classic end dungeons/raids experience back then. I'm been playing in classic private server after wod exp and I can tell you I really enjoy it but let's be honest with each others we are in 2017 not in 2004 anymore. That to say the "classic" don't have to be 100% "classic". I'm very open mind, so let haters hate. This is my opinion about possible changes in "classic":1. Boss debuff limit (dot only) - if blizzard change this is a very good start to make some class/specc be viable.2. SMALL buff/change to all unviable class/specc3. Graphics - im not sure about this to be very honest I really enjoy actual graphs in wow but I'm not sure if this can be a good thing (I think I want this but maybe I don't)4. Item optimization - same as graphics im not sure about this one because we all know in classic there is warriors using leather, holy paladins using cloth etc,.. but if this happen I was wondering if this is a thing if blizzard could add more dungeons/raids to "classic".5. Dificultie - all leveling exp should remaining the same but 40 man raids and maybe 20 man raids should be sightly harder because people is not so nub anymore, if it gets harder 5-10% raiders will appreciate that. (Just do it hide from people, I'm sure they will enjoy it as I will)6. Alterac Valley - Alot of people that played back then and alo't of still subs that want to play "classic" wow, many have wife/husband kids and if they enjoy pvp they are not able to get most from game if they need AV. In my 60 nub experience I remember to log in after sleep and go to school and it still same AV. This is 2 much for your average playerbase right now I believe so it should get something changed.IMPORTANT: Please blizzard do not add battle.net, dungeon finder, battle pets, achivs and many other tools avaliable today that wasnt avaliable back then, let's build the best community of world of warcraft! This is my current opinion with my current exp and after reading alot of people opinion after blizzcon announce. To all community please keep posting your thoughts, blizzard is now listen but please be open minded and be respectful, we all have different opinions but remember game is not only yours, this is a game of huge community. Let's make mmorpg great again. Sorry for my "engrish".Best regards.
The only thing I would want changed with classic is to use the updated visuals of retail. Other than that just leave the game alone. Let the success of the classic server be determined by how many people play it and for how long while it is in its pristine form.
If I could upvote this comment I would.Honestly Blizzard, people want a vanilla experience, yep me too, just give it.When I read about it the first time I seriously considered the option of getting a subscription again. But only if the game is like it was years ago. I don't even care about updated graphics, although that would still be acceptable.I'm pretty sure a lot of fans have the same opinion.
Bring us classic in all it’s hideous glory, I played classic and it was enfuriating. You got in the game and got your ass kicked by everything that moved. That is the experience I want back. All the hardships and unbalanced classes are what made it a great game, because you had to work your ass off just to be able to compete against the broken classes and nothing is better then that. The only things that should be changed are the game breaking bugs, but hell if keeping those bugs means I get the classic server sooner then I say release it now.
I did top level raiding in classic, it cost so much time and so much effort. I finished with every dungeon and raid boss down (world firsts included), and Grand Marshal. Yeah, I no-lifed it, but why would someone want to continuously go through that again? The only thing that makes it fun is moving forward, staying in the past is where the people who didn't put in the effort back there live because they think it's better. The rose coloured glasses are a lie. Do not delude yourself from the fact that classic was great and horrible at the same time.
