Blizz is causing the opposite of what they want, in my opinion. Everyone who read their "reasoning" for removing the portals knows very well it's all nonsense.People who likes to explore or interact with others will do so regardless of the portals. As an avid explorer, I love to know every tiny corner and appearance of the game, as well as every route on it, including the portals that have been there for yyyyyears.I admit this change annoyed me more than I've expected. How come there's no portal to the Vale.So many more important things to fix. I can't help but agree with the common expression - Blizz "fixing" things that don't need fixing. Not just about the portal changes here but, they know why they're losing players and they insist in doing so, ignoring us in the forums in general.
Being a Mage, an Engineer, and a Collector of any Teleport Items I can find this change doesn't really effect me at all. My alts are gonna really feel it though >.<
"Alliance players can take the Twilight Highlands portal from Stormwind, which is found in the northeastern corner of the city with the other Cataclysm portals."This isn't helpful. It's faster to just fly from Ironforge and you need to unlock the flight master that is in the town you arrive in after you take the Cataclysm portal from Stormwind."Horde players have more limited options--their best bet is to talk to the new NPC in the Portal Room, Thrallmar Mage, for the Blasted Lands port.""Fly southwest from the new Jade Forest portal"Written by a Horde player. Alright.
Thank you for this article. Blizzard could learn from you how to treat its community.
You forgot the Pet battle teleports from Manapoof. The Westfall one is close to Karazhan and it's also possible to reach Gromgol quickly with the Gnomeragan one for Horde.
There's the (flying) Alliance trick of riding on top of the zeppelins that gives a little extra help getting around, too. No aggro, and if you go to Org, just bolt straight up away from the flying sentries once you arrive.
They seriously removed the Hellfire portals? Does the NPC replacement send you to old BL or the newly-phased one? Because even when you timewalk with the Dragon NPC in BL the phasing ends when you exit the zone, so if the NPC sends you to the new BL then it's useless since the new Dark Portal sends you nowhere. A big use for the Hellfire portals were for portal-hopping from any capital city back to Orgrimmar/Stormwind since there's a portal from the Hellfire side of the Dark Portal to both cities. Now that'll be gone and if you're stuck somewhere like Thunder Bluff with your hearthstone on cooldown you're kind of screwed. It's ridiculous that this article has to exist and that we now have to consider jumping through so many hoops just to travel around the game world.
"Find a friend with Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian!"Good one perc xD
Well. it's not too bad at all.
Fact u need a guide for this is insulting
"There are new Mage NPCs in place of portals to the Blasted Lands. In Stormwind, talk to Honor Hold Mage at the entrance to the Mage Tower. In Orgrimmar, talk to Thrallmar Mage by the Shattrath portal in the Portal room. These NPCs will take you to the Blasted Lands, right by the Dark Portal."This is false. The mage in Orgrimmar will not port you to Blasted Lands. Horde now has to take a zeppelin to Grom'gol to access southern Eastern Kingdoms.
Yay! - We will see some Mages selling portals again - an oldie, but a goodie!
You have missed Shattrath->Isle of Quel'Danas->Light's Hope Chapel teleportation route (two portals + flight path that serves as teleport). Definitly faster way to reach instances in northern EK for Alliance that teleporting to Twilight Highlands, and available sooner (at level 70, in opposition to 85).
The Vale of Eternal Blossoms portal loss is the one that hits me hardest. My current main doesn't even have the jade forest portal unlocked! XD
