I am personally not liking the change to the number of potential targets hit. Anything that makes this game even slower is NOT going to be helpful or fun. :(
So, I guess they just didn't put in DH's Eyebeam, right, but will be adding that in shortly, since after all, it's used as AOE too....

No, just no. Don't implement anti-fun BS, that's not how you keep people happy, it's the GCD change all over again. People want to feel powerful.

I really dislike this. One of my favorite things to do in this game is AoE large packs. I really enjoy the risk/reward of these pulls. At the end of the day WoW should be about fun. This change removes fun. For what? The MDI? Not worth it.
I think this is a good change. Now other non-AOE based specs can compete in M+. And again this is just Alpha :p
Theres a fine line Blizzard has to walk here with AoE and there's no clean solution.The BfA solution was some AoE nerfs, but instead relied more on using more trash mob casts that have to be interrupted so you couldn't pull as big. That in some ways made trash tedious, but also some setups were able to hard CC enough even with the nerfs to bypass it. So it looks like Blizzard is going with the hard cap solution.
This looks like a TERRIBLE idea.
From the list of abilities you can see though that it is not for every single aoe skill, rather than the high damage or bursty ones. For example, Ret will have baseline Consecration, but only Divine Storm is capped. Same for Warriors, Whirlwind is not capped, only Bladestorm etc. List goes on: Butchery not Wildfire Bomb, not Death and Decay, not Thrash, not Hand of Guldan, only the pet aoe which is op for Demonology. Also i do not see anything on any mages (which will all have Arcane explosion) other than ignite and Meteor and Monks. So, since it`s so early we cannot be sure for the final design of this idea. P.S. A lot of the skills are actually talents, so it may be for talent balance reasons.
