Keep in mind that if you pick the "best" covenant for your spec, it won't stay like that for long. Balance changes are quicker to make than covenant changes, and you can't spend all your time keeping up once Shadowlands launches. Pick what you want to play, and know that its power isn't set in stone.
Thank you to the whole team behind these posts. I cannot imagine the incredible amount of work that goes into them. Very appreciated :)
I am just going to say it again and again and again and again.PICK THE ONE YOU WANT!First off, this has changed a lot of times in beta. At one time , this is good, another this is better, then back there again, it just goes back and forth. It may be best now, but is it really best for you? Is it best right now?Everyone has different playstyle, everyone has different taste. You as the player should NOT FORCE yourself to pick "the best", no instead, ignore all of that.Ignore the this class is the best right now.Instead, ask yourself, what do YOU want? What class do you wanna play, what Covenant do you want, what soulbind and conduit and all that stuff...What do you like? Well, THAT is what you should play.Cause just like in beta and going forward it will change, it has done it before and it has done it again. So, ignore all these "best" stuff and just pick whatever you want. Cause you , as the player should be the one to enjoy it. So if you like this and that combo, then go for that, if you find out it wasn't for you, change it.Same with classes, pick the class / spec you want. Same with talents, just cause it says this is not good doesn't mean you shouldn't pick it. Because if you like it and enjoy using it then use it!Now go enjoy Shadowlands as you wanna play it!
I wish there was a "PvP" section for the best covenants for the few that are interested.
Oh my God, can all the "pick what you want" people shut up already? We get it, you ar goin to pick the covenant you want. No one is telling you to do otherwise. This guides are not written for you, they are specifically made for people that want to know which covenant performs better for their class. Also, to people saying that all the covenants are gonna be constantly getting nerfed and buffed thus making choosing the best useless, it's not all about numbers, some covenant abilities for some classes are fundamentally better for specific types of content. This guides are not written purely based on sims, authors are all skilled players experienced with their classes and take all the factors into account, they don't just sim a hundred patchwork fights and declare that X covenant is bis.
sorry, but if a spec + covenant combination has to be classified as "unplayable" that's bad design
What a monumental guide, well done.Im always trying to make up my own mind, but sure i crosscheck my decisions with some guides esp. if you cant switch covenants.
Are there any plans to talk about covenant ability performance in PvP?All of the guides and suggestions I’ve seen (aside from those by Supatease on YouTube) are PvE specific :\

These lists are detrimental to WoW health. ''BEST''...deceitful name. You should state ''best in stationary target dummy for now''. WoWhead really should stop with these stupid lists. It influences casual players who do not need to but feel peer pressured into ''BIS'' ''Best'' ''Top'' choices.I am disgusted
What an amazing guide! Great job writers! I'm glad its not just focused on the "This is the best spec for your spec" and opens it up to all choices! Great job.
To the people who always announce under these posts their intention of picking a covenant based on personal choice or that others should do so, that's fine and no one is stopping that kind of decision but....Who asked?
As someone who does essentially no group content, what are the best covenants etc for solo players? Or doesn't it matter?
i thought this was a "best classes per covenant" table where it lists the 4 covenants, and the most recommended specs for that covenant.it's the only type of guide that hasn't been made yet. everything else is "best COVENANT FOR YOUR CLASS/SPEC"but that's not what im looking for. i need like a "best SPEC/CLASSES per each covenant". it flips it. see the difference?something like:most recommended (or best) classes for:venthyr: x, y, z etc. (lists like maybe 10 of them)kyrian: a, b, c, etc. (lists like 15 of them)necro: lists prolly 5fae: lists the remaining ones not listed above.(don't list ALL OF THEM) it's not possible that all 4 covs have all 36 specs under them as "best". we already have tons of "best cov for your class" which makes us click on 38 seperate links. i would just like a quick at-a-glance table for each covenant. thanks for all the hard work though. <3
I'll be honest the idea of sub-dividing each spec in WoW into 4 different covenants, 3 soulbinds, and a host of conduit and legendary options had me worried that there would have to be a guide for absolutely every possible combination in the game and that it would be tedious at best. This WALL OF LINKS confirmed my fears and makes me think two things: Firstly, it is an impressive visual representation of the Wowhead team's dedication and thoroughness to giving us all the information we could possibly need to play the game. Secondly, it is a horrendous picture of a system that is so convoluted and over-designed that I am honestly, for the first time, completely at a loss of what to pick as a main only hours before the expansion. Usually I have made this decision weeks before the expansion, and now it is a few hours to launch and I can't even bring myself to read through any of it. I know I should have been doing so for months already, but I couldn't get excited about this Kitchen Nightmares style pages long menu of choices. It felt like a chore to read through it all, and now it's way too late. I know it's my fault for not doing my research but normally it's something I enjoy doing and keeping track of. So far I have dreaded the idea not felt like doing so.I can no longer be just an Unholy DK. I can choose to be a Night Fae, Niya, Unholy DK with X and Y conduits and Z legendary. Or perhaps a Venthyr, Theotar, Feral Druid with X and Y conduits and Z legendary. I understand all these subdivisions are to make you more "unique" and give you "choices" but this is too much. I look at the page above can't help thinking that if I want to play more than 4 specs I have hours of homework to do before being able to decide what will suit my playstyle best... And yes, I'm sure I can swap, or follow a guide. However, I feel that this is excessive, and I can only hope that the systems at least feel rewarding to engage with.
"Best" lol
