The debuff appears to occur from the Shadowlands Release on Tuesday Nov 24th, until the weekly rest on the following Wednesday Nov 25th. So it will be for approx. 1 day only, to prevent some players getting advantage, because the split weekly ID after SL release is a bit longer for some players.
Many people like having an even playing field. Obviously it will never truly be even, but telling players they have to reach max level and do what is supposed to be a weekly quest within the first 16 hours or lack one week of progress is the exact opposite.
Considering the one thing that everyone agrees WoW has done correctly for the past 15+ years is the art and storyline, it's an excellent idea to essentially force people to enjoy the content at a reasonable pace and not blaze through it at launch.
so the entire 24th on eu will be just to get max levels, great blizz, keep pleasing the guys who don't give a damn about the game, great direction
Still don't understand why they didn't just turn off the first reset entirely. Feel like that would have been easier than pausing content here and there for the first day or two
At this point just delay the expac a week. Gotta be honest, I'm furious that everything is delayed by a week. Remove the friggin training wheels already. I and a lot of other people don't need Blizz to hold our hands.
So will there be a reason to go into the Maw on the first week...? Not angry, just confused. Haven't really been paying much attention to Maw testing.
