It's been faster for me than the campaign version. I do think they need to increase the experience gains through bonus objectives, or at least increase the percentage you get toward filling up those objective bars, though.
Yeah but what about xmog. Also where's our fishing insight!
Threads of Fate bonus objectives are the most tedious thing ever. It's a combination of kill or click 50 things and the exp is low considering how much time you waste.
No. If you want to quest, don't use this feature, it's WAY slower. It's only good to level some character only through dungeons with blue bar
Likely very beneficial to those that don't care for the story and just want to get on with grinding for Raids/Mythics. BUT if you like the story or want to experience the Covenant induction/get the mount - DON'T pick Threads of Fate. I did on my second character and not happy with that news. I have put in a ticket (10 day turn around as of 11/27) to see if they can reset him back to pre-SL.Really don't care for Blizz's stand on you can start the Campaign and change your mind, but if you start Threads you're stuck.
I'm a solo quester myself and I still think the hassle of taking longer to get to max level is worth having the freedom to do whatever you want, not to mention being able to avoid the linearity of the main questline
I would argue it’s absolutely better, but for speed and replay ability. I’m working on a finding decent modes of quests/world quests to maximise your leveling speed, but for example today in bastion we dis the world quest for the robo dog, and then immediately did the quest chain after it. Between these 2 we’re almost 50% through the meta zone quest for threads of fate, and we got almost a full level. It took us under 30 mins for that. You can be looking at clearing all 4 zones in around 4h if similar nodes of quests are in other zones (got a route for reven but didn’t really pay attention in the other 2 zones to side quests). In terms of replay ability- each character can go a different path (different quests etc) and stil get the same overall end goal. The main story was great, don’t get me wrong, but I’d say after 2 maybe 3 chars I’d be sick of it. Threads of fate has my working out where I want to explore in advance on my alts :)
I've found Shadowlands alt levelling to be the best experience in the history of WoW. I've gone for lore master on my main, and threads of fate on an alt - the versatility has meant I can benefit greatly from grinding mob kills in between world quests to farm and craft leather gear, to then send over to my main... so I'm not really missing out on the fact that I'm not running dungeons on my main, because I've been able to kit him out in a bunch of blue ilevel155 gear. The synergy is fantastic, I've been able to read every quest and fully enjoy the game on my main, and enjoy it just as much on a sort of "arcade mode" with my alt... meanwhile I'm progressing through 2 seperate covenants. I look forward to taking this approach with other alts, and also repeat on Horde side.... with the freedom to take other alts through the story method (where if I'm just aiming for level 60 as fast as possible, I can just blast through the campaign - and send them a bunch of gear at 55, and 60 to speed things up even further, without feeling like I must run dungeons otherwise my iLvl is too low when I hit 60).Shadowlands is brilliant - best WoW experience since TBC!
I dont like the story in Shadowlands so ToF is a welcomed system. Bastion is awefull and I dont like its colour pallet same with Ardenweald and Revendreth is just full of mazes where if you want to reach from point A to point B you have to go on a 10 mins trip to go to reach point B and there is no shortcut from lower ground to upper ground(I am not talking about the lifts/elevators, I am talking about the ones where the only way is walking and there are plenty of them). Revendreth is made for flying mounts except you dont have flying mounts so.......you have to suck it up if you want to play the game. Then there is the Maw. WHO ON THIS EARTH THOUGHT IS A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE A ZONE WITH NO MOUNTS? It isnt fun and it is VERY frustrating and I am not talking about losing currency just the no-mount zone.I dont care if its slower I still prefer running around doing objectives and some side quests than to do the storyline. Where , if you played WoW long enough in a successive expansions you start to see a pattern. X deserts Y , Y pursues X , X says something to Y and Y goes OH NOES X MIGHT BE RIGHT AFTERALL YOU MORTALS ARE THE PROOF!.......give me a break I am bored of hearing the same formula. All I want is the m+ , raids , bgs and arena. The only thing that they've changed and , too bad it was done poorly because it felt like missing chapters , is the Revendreth storyline. From meeting and finding out there is a far too short chain of actions.I mean COME ON. You dont go from "I will help you deal with the rebels" to "MWAHAHA I AM EVIL AND SOLD MY PEOPLE" in a span of 2 chapters. Finding out should've been the climax and dealing with it should've been part of the Venthyr campaign. Not balls and complacements missions.
Dungeon quests? Would be nice to get a list of these. I realize most of the time they will be near the dungeon portal, but I'm not sure if this is always the case

I'm very fine with this addition. It's exactly what I always wanted. There were expansions, like Legion, where every story was worth playing. Class Halls practically guaranteed it'd be worth it to play through all of them. So I did and ended up with multiple characters with maxed out reputations and I was invested in all of them. Then Battle For Azeroth came along and after my initial playthrough it took me weeks before I even considered playing one of my alts through that story. I was playing on Horde side and man, I really couldn't get attached to that story at all. Alliance had it better in this regard. When they introduced the Faction Invasions, I just skipped most of the story in favour of playing these. Shadowlands did have a good story, but it takes its time. So, only two days after reaching 60, I brought my second character through the Maw and he's currently leveling via this method. It's exactly what I always wanted. Playing at my own leisure, without any burden. I can focus most of my attention on my main and my alts get by in time. The first chapter alone was worth three levels. I'd say it's worth it. And I still have other characters on which I can choose to play the story again. It's a huge time saver and it lets me get used to the different Covenant abilities better.
I focused on the side quests and they are definately more rewarding than the bonus objectives. I recommend skipping the bonus objectives entirely. Just do side quests and the occasional world quest and/or dungeon. May not have been faster but it sure felt like it.
