Ever since Mac'aree is available, I have only missed the rares from 9 AM to 1 PM each day, and this is the only one I still haven't killed (Except Videx which we haven't found, of course)

Hope we won't have to wait until there's a world quest of him.

I'm not even sure if this rare even exists anymore. I've been playing for days, and I haven't ever seen him at all. They need to fix the timers for the rare spawns. Last night I waited for six hours trying to wait for him to spawn. He never has, even up until now.

Edit: Along with Xethgar, and Umbraliss. I know Videx is locked behind the dungeon that's gonna open next week.

Shadowcaster Voruun is up on U.S. servers currently, as of the last rare respawns about 40 minutes ago (11 a.m. ET).

Alright, I finally got this guy after a guildy told me he was up. However, when I went to go kill him, him nor his corpse was anywhere to be found. The hour had just rolled over by the time I got there, so I was worried I had just missed his spawn window. However, upon waiting for a few minutes, he respawned, and I got him down. I think Voruun has a much longer respawn timer than other rares on Argus, even if he is actually up. It's either that or his corpse disappears faster than other rares, or both. His spawn time took a little longer than the time for his small caster mobs next to him to respawn. Regardless, if you know he's supposed to be up but there isn't any trace of him, you may want to wait a few minutes to see if he spawns.

Seems to have a very long spawn time, so if you see him on your own realm, make your own Group Finder group.

Hopefully he will get hot fixed - right now it does seem about 5-10 min respawn with him as a WQ today.

Camped him yesterday from 14:00 to 17:30 and then again 00:00 to 02:00 with no joy. The early morning camp I made a Premade Group and was shocked at how many people joined at that time and only needed him for Commandant d’Argus.

Camping him again right now (08:30) as I failed to hear my alarm go off at 04:00. Hoping he will spawn at 09:00 like the general consensus implies. I know these are approximations, no exactness but will keep you guys posted. Wish me luck :] ( will make another premade for him as I hate to think people have had such a hard time getting him)

Just a side note: I have a theory that keeping the 3 mobs that spawn around him up might increase the chance on him spawning. They may need to be up to summon him. Ofc with RNG there's no way of telling if this is true but lets just call it a suspicion.

09:00 message reads: 'Daily Quests are now reset'. Still hasn't spawned

09:31 still nothing. I thought that doing the Alleria daily nearby (sorry forgot name of it) and killing Turek the Lucid (soz cant seem to direct link him) might trigger but no joy. I give up.

The items apart from the 2 handed sword you get for Commandant d’Argus are utter rubbish so I have no incentive until Blizzard either make this rare part of a daily or I come back to it when it's been officialy fixed.

So I have just chatted with a GM after writing a ticket asking for confirmation if this is a recognized bug or an intended VERY rare mob implementation. Here is the conversation.

GM: As for your ticket, I've checked and I don't see any confirmed bugs with that NPC.

Me: But are you able to confirm if that mob is indeed part of a World Quest?

GM: I can't really confirm a lot about rare-spawn mobs. But as you see yourself on wowhead, there is a quest to kill him

ME: ok I understand. Ty very much. That atleast puts my mind to rest

Hope this saves people a LOT of time camping. Gl on achie :]

I have been checking on this guy every 4 hours for the last 3 days and I haven't seen him once, Im starting to think he only spawns when the world quest to kill him is active.

Edit** Been over a week now and still nothing. Multiple posts on the official forums yet not a single response acknowledging this, what a surprise.

It's been two weeks now since he's been spotted on Dalaran that I'm aware of, been checking at least once every two hours. Hope he pops up soon as he is the last one many of us need for the Commandant d’Argus achievement ...

Been waiting on this rare for days and days now with no luck. Seems odd that this guy has been so difficult to come across while many of the other rares you encounter almost every day.

Today (9/28) the official Warcraft Dev Twitter has admitted there IS a bug with this.

"We believe we've found the bug with this and we're working on squashing it as soon as possible."

Hey all,

I have some answers on this now - Shadowcaster Voruun will spawn like all other Argus rares - i.e. he has a chance of being a daily World Quest, and he can also spawn as a rare every time the Argus rares cycle (every four hours).

What we resolved with Voruun was an issue that was preventing him from spawning in general, and, now that that is resolved, he will definitely be making appearances in the future. Just to stress this - while he may not be up immediately, he should now be spawning much, much more often going forward.

After a bluepost on the us forums today, Exhalombre Voruun should spawn more often now. He spawns on 44.6 71.6. He is listed for Commandant d’Argus and Aventurier d’Argus. He spawns also for a worldquest (Exhalombre Voruun). The Hotfix should be live on Us and Eu Realms:

I can now say that Shadowcaster Vorrun has spawned with the world quest - 21:00 ST (silvermoon EU)

So after 2-3 weeks and some bugs we can finally kill him again.

FINALLY! was up as a World Quest. Killed him at 00:28 on Sylvanas server and kept the auto-invite group open for a while so others wouldn't have to go through what I had to for the last 4 weeks. He frequently respawned so looks like he's been fixed.
