This is a very mage unfriendly fight. If a mage gets Fel Rage then the likelihood of survival is low even with stacked stamina/armor. My raid brings only 1 mage to the fight to maximize raid survivability and DPS. A mage wearing all "tank" gear won't be bringing much DPS. All other classes have very good survivability techniques.

Our guild is currently trying this - Fel Rage can be a nightmare to handle. The worst targets for Fel Rage are, rather obviously, the cloth users - burst damage can be VERY high on them and they can be two shotted from 100% health.
The most common survivors are rogues as they can use Evasion to dodge most of Gurtogg's swings, and shield users such as paladins and shamans - we haven't seen him target the 3 tanks on him before with Fel Rage, which is probably intended.

If his Fel Rage target dies, he deviates to the highest target on his agro list when he was not Fel Raged - this SHOULD be a tank, but his increased damage can still quickly kill the tanks as well, and will also catch most healers unawares.
So if a Fel Rage target dies, there's a high chance your tanks will go as well, and it's pretty much a wipe.

On a separate note, Gurtogg can be reset by pulling him up the ramp and to the doorway to the east - if you start wiping, a few raid members may be able to survive by running this way, which shortens re-preparation time.

My guild is using one priest with Pain Suppression (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=33206) and we give it to clothusers who get Fel Rage. It works very well and we rarely have anyone die thanks to it.

Our Guild just downed him last night on our first night trying, heres what we did:
We set up three Groups, 1 2 and 3. These groups eat the Bloodboil Debuff every rotation.

We tank him with three tanks on the left side of the room (Where you stand looking at him) on the edge of the water so they aren't out of range of heals. When its time, the group eating that bloodboil back out, into the right 'waterfall/water' area. The casters are between Gurtogg and the waterfalls behind them if they are not eating bloodboils.

When he enters fel rage, depending on the class, we have them do the following things:

Mage; Get Pain Supression from a Disc Priest (We carry one for this fight). Cast Frost Armor.
Priest; Get Pain Supression from a disc priest and spam renew and PoM on theirselves. Make sure Inner Fire is up!
Rogue; Cast Evasion
Warlock; Use Drain Life (And Siphon life) Nonstop. Demon Armor can help if you're getting meleed to hard
Shaman (Restoration): Use Earth shield on themselves
Shaman (Elemental/Enhancement): Get Pain Supression from a Disc Priest.
Paladin: Tank it, put on a shield.
Warrior: Tank it, put on a shield.
Hunter (Survivial); Cast Deterrence and keep AotMonkey up.
Hunter (Beast Mastery/Marksman): Make sure AotMonkey is up.
Druid: Pop an Instant cast heal, then go into bear.

When you manage the Fel Rages and Bloodboils, this fight becomes easy. Keep your three tanks capped whenever possible, having 1 healer assigned to the offtanks and 3 to the current tank. (2 Raid Healers, Preferably druids).

If someone misses a bloodboil 'backing up', call out for a pally bubble. It will dispel it.

In Phase 2, he also uses a Backhand attack which stuns the target for a short amount of time (2 sec?). Very annoying for healers with fel rage.

Keeping the fel rage target alive is certainly the hardest part (especially Mages are a nightmare to heal). Also in Phase 1, for every DD it's absolutely vital to stay below every tank (we use 3) in aggro.

Another important point is to check if you have "insignificance" debuff at phase 2. It can be resisted and it's possible to steal aggro from the fel rage target and get one shotted

Gurtogg does not employ Acid Geyser, but instead Fel Geyser. The latter deals more damage and has a bigger range plus a knockback.

It can be a real pain if you're near the Fel Rage target (on which Fel Geyser is cast), hence get a good deal of damage from it, and still have Bloodboil ticking while each and every healer switches to the Fel Rage target. *grumble*

Gurtogg Bloodboil is either the leader, or perhaps merely the most mutated, of the fel orcs under Illidan's command. He believes, like Kargath Bladefist in the Shattered Halls, this army to be the "true horde," as opposed to the one led by the Warchief Thrall. A similar conflict over the title occurred with Rend Blackhand of Blackrock Spire.

He would have been born on Draenor, perhaps serving on Azeroth during the orcish invasions, before returning after the Horde's defeat. He has gained his powers from consuming a great deal of the blood of Magtheridon, whom Illidan has chained up in Hellfire Citadel. It is possible that he worked for Magtheridon previous to Illidan's ascension in Outland, perhaps even defending him against the demon hunter's original assault. He may have learned the skills that give him his name from Gorefiend, as death knights seem to be able to wield this ability as well. Also, it is likely that he spent some time in the Blood Furnace of Hellfire Citadel, being experimented upon and enhanced by the laboratories there.

Fel orcs that, as official members of the Illidari forces, serve beneath Bloodboil include:

- the highly mutated Bonechewer clan, both in the Black Temple itself, around Hellfire Citadel, led there by Tagar Spinebreaker, and in eastern Terokkar, seemingly under the guidance of a blood elf, Lisaile Fireweaver.
- the aerial forces of the Dragonmaw, both within Karabor and at the Dragonmaw base outside -- led locally by Zuluhed the Whacked.
- the necromantic Shadowmoon clan in Black Temple, probably under the command of the recently resurrected (and recently loyal to Illidan) Teron Gorefiend. The external forces of the Shadowmoon are stationed on the Ata'mal Terrace, and led by Shadowlord Deathwail, riding a netherdrake loaned to him from the Dragonmaw clan.
- the Bleeding Hollow fel orcs of Hellfire Citadel and the fort of Zeth'Gor, commanded there by Warlord Morkh.
- the Shattered Hand clan, stationed in the most secure parts of Hellfire Citadel, led there by the self-styled Warchief Kargath Bladefist.
- a few remnants of the Laughing Skull clan in the Blood Furnace.

Something that no one's mentioned that I wasn't to clear on, Fel-Acid Breath is a melee targeted ability, so you'll want the guy that gets targeted by it to run to the side to minimize people getting hit by it.

So, my guild decided to run Black Temple because so many of us lvled to 80 w/o running BC raids. We had 25 of a variety of lvls, a lot of 80s.

After struggling w/ the Reliquary of Souls (maybe the raid leader knew the strategy, but I wasn't in on it) and wiping twice, it was decided to approach Gurtogg more thoughtfully.

So, just as the leader is getting us into our respective groups to coordinate the fight, I look up to see my cat tearing across the platform toward Gurtogg (I'd been playing w/ keybindings and somehow bound petattack to "R," which I must've hit). So despite our planning, we are now in combat. So, while we are in combat, I'm typing, "I don't know how that happened...Sorry about being a huntard...etc," and I'm trying to figure out how it happened while maintaining my rotation.

Since we were a little OP, we downed him w/ minimal deaths (I think 3) and didn't need all the preplanning (which was working out to 20 minutes).

So, some notes, just cause you're group is full of a lot of 80s doesn't mean you shouldn't understand the fights (Reliquary of Souls wiped us twice), and sometimes even the best intentions don't help (be careful w/ keybindings), and sometimes you are very, very lucky and can stumble through fights simply because you are OP.

As a result, I got rid of all my keybindings, apologized profusely to my guild, and laughed a lot. I unwittingly added to the negative stereotype of Hunters by being a Huntard in the true sense of the word.

Just duo'd him as an 85 Resto Shammy approx ilvl 345 and 84 Blood DK ilevel 313. We attempted the fight originally with me in elemental spec, but i couldn't out-heal the damage he was doing to us and dps at the same time, I just ended up going oom toward the end of the fight and was essentially worthless.

Our second attempt went much more smoothly, but was still challenging. The first half of the fight was pretty easy, I just kept up earth shield on the DK and tossed a riptide on him myself to keep us topped off. I tossed my fire elemental into the fight and used heroism while he popped army of the dead to help give us some extra dps. Since I was pretty good on mana i helped dps with some lighting bolts and shock spells.

Once the fight had been going on a few minutes it got a bit more difficult as acidic wound had stacked to 60 on the both of us and the incoming damage was pretty intense. At this point I had no choice but to focus entirely on healing. We both popped every cd we had left and managed to down him just as I nearly went oom again. Also, we downed him with a couple min to spare on his enrage timer.

I'm sure with better gear and both max level this wouldn't have been quite as hard.

dual-screened this with a rogue and a healer druid, thought it was going to be impossible at first, but he stops casting blood boil long enough for it to fall off after 5 stacks every time, then it was just a matter of using cloak of shadows on cd to drop the acidic wound stack and was quite easy

I was able to solo Gurtogg as a 460 Unholy Death Knight in DPS gear. I had tried in blood spec in DPS gear but was eventually unable to outheal the dot damage. Popping every CD as unholy let me beat the boss with about 50% HP left. I averaged 71k DPS over 53s as a reference for anyone else trying to beat the clock.

Soloed him today with my protection warrior ilvl 470.

I had second wind talent, that kept me alive when the dots got me down below 35% hp.
And the dragon roar that was some increase to the dps plus the rage for my Shield Barriers.

Keep shield barrier up as long as possible and you should have no problems on defeating him. Got on the second try, first was as fury and i couldn't outdps the dot.

I was able to solo this boss yesterday on my 463 ilevel blood dk with no issues what so ever. The story was very different on my ww monk who got smashed so I went and specced brewmaster and that was not much better. I did get acidic wound to stack to 55 but my monks gear sucks so I just could not keep up. I am going to try a few things and see if I can get this to work otherwise I will move on to another toon. This boss sucks just fyi, lol.

Solo'd as a Fury Warrior, Titan's Grip, ilvl 476, no buffs.

Since the nerf to Reliquary of Souls, I believe this is the most difficult boss to solo. My strategy was simply to nuke him down as quickly as possible. I popped everything I had at the start and the first 30% of his hp disappeared very quickly. Even so I had to use a healing pot towards the end as Second Wind just couldn't keep up with the stacks of Acidic Wound and Bloodboil. I ended the fight with just under 10% hp.

Soloed this today as SMF Fury, ilvl 469, no buffs.

Did try with Titan's fury at first, but it failed.
Stacks were getting pretty high, so luck kept me alive, lowest hp i've been was at about 1.5%.
Although i've only done 41.7k dps he went down after 1 minute 28 sec
and i had a total selfheal for about 512k hp(5.5k hps).

Seems indeed that Reliquary of Souls is now the least of our problems farming BT.

~~He's actually in the part called "Halls of Anguish", noticed that wowhead has named all of the parts wrong.~~ I had some trouble finding the entrance to this part of the raid (it doesnt show on the map). Ran around for quite some time cursing.

So, if anyone else is having the same problem: you will find the entrance in Sanctuary of Shadows, in the upper right corner (if you look at the map), below the text "Den of Mortal Delights".

Tried this guy today as boomkin and failed miserably (457 ilvl), swapped spec to feral and put on my tank set (458) and stomped him first try...this is the only boss here thus far where I've had to switch but I only got him to about 50% as boom.

Simple solo as a ret pally with ilvl 452. Went in with full holy power and inquisition up from the trash before him and unloaded every dps cooldown and burst him down as far as possible. My DPS wasn't quite enough to kill him before acidic wound stacked too high though. Just waited until the last possible moment and then bubbled, selfless healer, word of glory, potion, and it's like I start the fight fresh but he's almost dead.

Solo'd as prot pally ilvl486. No probs here. Had 5 stacks of bloodboil on me but hp never dropped at all. Acidic wound was only doing 244 nature damage on me and bloodboil was only doing between 500 and 2k damage per hit. I'd un-glyphed Divine protection so maybe the full 40% magic reduction from Divine Protection was helping a lot.

Arcane mage iLvL 464 .. just soloed him.

Not coming to boost here since i dont consider myself a very skillfull player but just stating that it is possible to solo him as a mage with 'crappy' gear :-)

Either i was very lucky or he was very unlucky but after he died i died due to only 70 (!) hp on the bar left so the next tick killed me before i could sit down and eat :-)

After the first 3 attempts (and only preventing death by using Greater Invis) and him having close to 2M hp left i decided to change tactics. Previously i blew all my CD's at the beginning and this clearly was not the way.

Here's what happened :

First i swapped Greater Invis for Cold Snap realizing that twice an Ice Block would keep me in the fight longer.

Tactics :

- Before i started the fight i popped Incanter's Ward for the 30% increase and then started dps'ing as soon as it fell off.
- Molten Armor mainly for the 6% reduction in damage.

- When i had like 75K hp left i decided not to risk it any longer (due to Bewildering Strike) and popped Mirror Image.
- I then blinked away, popped Ice Block (immediately canceling the aura), hit Cold Snap en Evocation and then bandaged to top myself to full health.
- I then popped Arcane Power and Time Warp.
- With 10 seconds on the clock left i popped Alter Time to give me 6 xtra seconds Time Warp.

By that time i again had his full attention :-)

When he seriously began to damage me and with about 15 seconds on the clock for Ice Barrier to pop up again i decided to use Ice Block one more time.
I waited for the full duration of Ice block, blinked afterwards and kept running untill Ice Barrier was off CD.
- While running i used a Master Healing Potion.

After that it was a race to the death, for both of us as it turned out, but luckely he went first :-)

A few notes on the fight :

- I stood still the whole time when dps'ing. No point in wasting time to hop around when you clearly cannot outrun him.
- I used Blink whenever available to avoid as much damage as possible.
- I used Incanter's Ward whenever it was up. The absorption helped ofc but the 30% increased spell damage for 15 seconds was the goal.
- I had 3 Bewildering Strike 'moments' and especially the last one knocked off 150K of my health before i could shield myself again.

Personal Notes :

- Bewildering Strike makes this a very hard fight for us glass cannons, walking around like a headless chicken for 8 seconds does not make you happy :-p
- I guess prior to 5.1 this fight would have been slightly easier but thanks to the double nerf on Ice Barrier (from over 100K absorption to 65K) you feel seriously unprotected as soon as the serious damage starts coming in.

Anyway, to all the mages out there, if i can solo him i guess anyone can so all the best to you !

Solo'd him today as an ilevel 472 disc priest. I downed him in shadow last week with slightly lesser gear than my disc set. I think it was luck though, I couldn't seem to get him down in shadow this week. With atonement heals and shields it was much easier to off set the eventual 60 stacks of blood boil. Completed my transmog set in one run :)

Wasn't a huge deal as a 472 Combat Rogue - though I suggest you have some heals, of some sort ready at the end of the fight. Blessure acide nearly killed me, as it stacked up to 39.

It really does boil down - no pun intended, to a DPS race, and trying to kill him before those stacks kill you.

I just soloed this on my 90 enhancement shaman, and I'm averaging ilvl 477 gear. Here's how I did it.

In your Talents spec Conductivity. In Glyphs Feral Spirit.

My weapons were a pair of Amber Sledge of Klaxxi'vess with Windfury/Flametongue weapon imbues.

Keep Lightning Shield up for the first half of the fight, switching to Water Shield about 2/3 through. You'll be using a lot of mana by then so any potions or other mana restoration aids you can find, bring along. Although I didn't have any, things would have gone easier if I'd had a few Water Spirit. With Conductivity specced make sure to keep Healing Rain up the entire fight.

I also used Quilen Statuette, obtainable thru Archeology.

I began the fight without using any cooldowns, basically ran up and dropped Searing Totem and attacked like any other mob. Then dropped Healing Stream totem, and Healing Rain as soon as Maelstrom stacked, then dropped Stormlash Totem. After that I unloaded with pretty much every cooldown I had including Bloodlust and Ascendance.

Keep an eye on your debuff stacking, as this is how you'll anticipate to build up health and start focusing on heals. Try to keep your health above 75% as long as you can through the fight. Basically you want to burn him down as fast as possible shortly after you start, and then focus mostly on healing. You should be able to get him down to about 30% pretty quickly with a full-on assault. Be sure to use your cooldowns as they become available including Feral Spirit.

When I got him to about 30% health I brought out the Quilen Statuette and also Earth Elemental Totem, and switched to Water Shield. At this point focus on healing as much as possible.

After you kill him, sit down and eat as this will prevent the stacked debuffs from killing you - it takes a while for them to wear off. It took me two tries, I think what clenched it was determining to just burn him as hard as possible up front, and bringing out the Earth Elemental and Statuette near the end, because it was close.

A very difficult fight to solo if you have no way to remove the acidic wound debuff. Balance Druid ilvl 479 (Resto gear) couldn't quite put out enough DPS to down this one and theres little chance to out heal the damage taken as a DPS spec. Swapped my talents around, primarily for , and got this sucker down to 450k before an unlucky Frappe stupéfiante put me in my grave for the 5th time. Definitely use a tank spec and tank gear if you've got it, if not try finding a friend.

90 Feral Druid with iLevel 480 (mix of Valor and heroic 5-man gear). Specced Renewal (use when necessary) and Dream of Cenarius (use with 5 combo point Predatory Swiftness procs for healing).

This fight, along with Le conseil illidari and Illidan Hurlorage himself were the toughest of Black Temple.

I got him on the first try, but it was a nail biter, though. I probably had 1% or less HP when he finally went down. I just sort of went in blind, so I'm not sure what it was that was hittng so hard, but after he was dead I had a DoT on me that was hitting for over 15K. I ran out of mana trying to heal through it. I had to drink some Pearl Tea Milk to survive.

I had no strategy, just went Cat Form, healed when Predatory Swiftness procced, and popped cooldowns to increase DPS, and at the end survive.

Just soloed as a 442 prot warrior. Mostly in questing greens. The trick is to generate as much rage as possible, make sure to leap away and charge back, and charge when he knocks you back. I had 332k hp. Keep shield barrier up AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. This is so key. However, don't use it if you're already at 35%, use it as a buffer to get from in the 20% range back to 35%. Obviously pop defensive cool downs when things get close (that daze can be a pain). Also I THINK I was in battle stance though I can't remember, but I think defensive is the way to go.

I soloed him last night on a 90 WW Monk with ~480 ilvl. It was a very tough fight, using all self-healing available to me.

The fight lasted long enough that I was able to use Touch of Karma twice. He and I died simultaneously, but he died. I rezzed. Take that Gurtogg!

Solo'd as level 85 Troll Combat Rogue ilvl 432

Pop Virmen's Bite, Stealth and open with Garrote. Build points to 5 then Rupture, 5 to Recuperate, then a few points (while energy was low) and pop Killing Spree. Finish the points and then Slice and Dice, keep Rupture and Recuperate up, and pop 5 point Eviscerate when possible. Close gap after he knocks back as quickly as possible, I used Sprint the first time and Nitro Boosts the second time. Use Cloak of Shadows when possible, I managed to get 2 off, one early and one right before the end.

This guy was about to kill me when he casted the Fel Rage spell on my undergeared lvl90 mage - this spell gave me back about 50% HP and allowed me to hit the boss twice for about 150,000 damage, thus killing him while i was left at about 10% hp.

For mages trying to solo him in the future:
- Do not pick flameglow, it is useless.
- Cold Snap is a must
- You can not outrun the boss
- Use blink when he is casting his spells, you will get a spell or two off.
- Your mirror images should be used to reset the stacked debuff at around ~25 stacks.
- Use incanter's ward with the glyph evocation for strong burst healing.

If you get the Fel Rage debuff, you will probably 3 shot the boss.

lvl 85 Enh Shaman, Firelands/DS geared. Opened with Searing Totem, Earth Ele, Puppies, was fine until the puppies faded, he basically stacks the debuff on you with every melee swing, which is every second. Had 38 stacks, dropped from 90k to 10k in a few seconds, died. barely got him under 3 mil HP.

Extremely difficult fight, despite healing. Going to skip this guy and go as far as I can before the "gateway" stops me... assuming he's a gateway boss.

Just done as a 85 Arms/Prot warrior in mostly MoP blues. 404 ilvl

Originally I found arms literally impossible, but as protection with Second Wind, Last Stand, Shield Wall and most importantly Shield Barrier I was able to stay in second wind range juggling cooldowns and bore him to death at about 20k DPS.

Very close fight, occasionally during disorients I'd hit 13khp of 190k and have to use Shield Wall + Demo Shout so Second Wind could tick me back up to around 50-60k.

6% dodge, 26% parry, 24% block, 53% mastery.
(Defensive Stance, Revenge Spam with 100% or as much as possible Shield Barrier up time.)

Other than once for fun I don't recommend trying to solo this.

Finally killed Gurtogg as an Assassination Rogue with 464 ilvl and PvP gear. It was a very difficult fight for me and here is the strategy I used:

I swapped my major glyphs for this fight to Cloak of Shadows, Evasion and Recuperate. I also recommend talenting Marked for Death and Combat Readiness if you already haven't.
Your n°1 priority will be Recuperate since the DPS will be constantly on you and so there is no time to use bandages; if you are using leeching poison - which I highly recommend - remeber to use Shiv everytime it's up since it will heal you for 5% of your health instantly. Having recuperate up is crucial especially when he uses Bewildering Strike, so beware!
As far as DPS goes, nothing too silly: open with Garrote, 5 CP Rupture, 1-2 CP Slice and Dice, MfD into 5 CP Envenom. Remember to always have Recuperate up! Another important thing is from 30% down remember to start spamming Dispatch and not keep using Mutilate.
Now for defensive cooldowns: we have Cloak of Shadows, Combat Readiness and Evasion as main abilities to use here. I tried using Elusiveness + Glyph of Feint but it just wasn't as effective as Leeching Poison + Shiv. Anyway, what I suggest here is the following: use CoS when you reach 30ish stacks of Acidic Wound, use CR and Evasion early on. This way you might get to use CoS 2 or 3 times, and CR and Evasion probably 2. If you find yourself in big trouble (IE forgot to keep Recuperate up) use Preparation + Evasion.
As far as offensive cooldowns go, I already had the following macro:

which I popped early on in the fight and reused at the end of the fight while bursting Gortogg down with Dispatch. Also remember to use Marked for Death for either a 5CP Recuperate or maybe a 5CP Rupture / Envenom.

As a final comment and recommendation I would reemphasize this: the key to this fight is really keeping Recuperate up and using Shiv for the 5% heal, that's it. The DPS from Gurtogg will be coming pretty constantly at you as I already said, so if you go too low you won't have a lot of time to heal back up. Thus it is absolutely key to counter the constant DPS with constant healing.

Soloed this with my 85 blood DK in 417 ilevel gear including Jade Forest greens and auction house blues.

The fight is just a tank and spank. As a death knight this fight was trivial but other classes that have weak healing or damage mitigation can have trouble dealing with his damage. Acidic Wound only got up to 16 stacks.

For any Priest who may be interested to know - This boss can be very tricky as he hits you with a stacking debuff that stacks up to some decent damage. That is in conjunction with a 6 second disorient. Yes, even your shield will likely break early. Essentially this is a DPS race. Burn your cooldowns in an attempt to burn through his health as quickly as possible, and remember to heal or eat up the moment the fight ends as those dots keep ticking.

Best of luck on the staff, for it has never made an appearance in the dozen or so times ive attempted to claim it.

After several failed attempts to solo this guy with my 90 ilvl 447 shadowpriest, I found that spamming Shield on cooldown + Glyph of Weakened Soul was the winning strategy.

The key is delaying the initial application of Acidic Wound as long as possible, which he cannot apply through a Shield. Before he uses his first Bewildering Strike, you can absorb pretty much all of his damage by spamming Shield as soon as it's available. Use this time to burn him fast; pop your dps CDs right at the start.

Once he starts using Bewildering Strike, he will inevitably land a few stacks of Acidic Wound. Keep spamming Shield, pop a Renew now and then, and stay calm. The longer the fight goes on, your shields will break faster and the stacks will climb faster. Save Vampiric Embrace for when you start taking massive damage.

soloed on my 85 mw monk. mostly 415 mop blues, 442 mace, chest and cloak, 450 off hand and bracers, so easily obtainable gear from the ah and definitely not a twink.

got 10 stacks of mana tea and 4 chi before the pull just for extra. statue by the boss. fistweave him down keeping renewing mist on yourself. you should survive the first bewildering strike with just your renewing mist. for the second, just do a life cocoon right before. mine absorbed 210k so well worth saving. you should have enough dps to kill him after the 2nd. i only did 25k, but also 14.2k hps.

Solo'd as a poorly geared Disc priest (ilvl 477 - mostly non ToT LFR gear and some heroics). I tried this as a shadow priest as I solo'd the rest of the dungeon this way. But since there are bleeds (as well as stacking DoTs that he puts on you that last approximately 1 min, it required heals. I tried twice as a shadow priest, but didn't even get him down half way.

I switched out specs to disc and opened him up with my shadowfiend in case the fight lasted for more than 3 minutes (which it did), I could take the aggro off me later (with the use of fade). Wait for him to put up the bleed (Acidic Wound), Bloodboil (non-dispellable) and after he does the green fumes (Fel-Acid Breath), immediately pop Pain Supression. Your atonement heals from smite should heal you enough all the way through the fight if you use your cooldowns wisely.

The 2nd time he does this set (Acidic Wound, Bloodboi, Fel-Acid Breath), pop your PW:B. He may throw you out of it, but just get back in. After your PW:B runs out, you should have Shadowfiend back up - pop it and fade to give yourself a few seconds.

Don't bother trying to trinket out of Bewildering Strike, it doesn't work. Void tendrils are useless as he is immune. Keep PW:S up at all times & use Power Infusion whenever it's on CD. Wait out the Bewildering strikes and shield right when you come out of it and smite smite smite. I got down to about 30% HP, but that's it. Don't bother directly healing yourself. Let smite do it for you. GG.

Easily soloed as prot paladin lvl90.

Main things for this fight:

Have a good way to constantly self-heal, preferably a heal over time.

The fight will last a few minutes, just keep your health full and you will prevail.

Unless you are very well geared, this is not a dps race - outlast the boss, heal through his stuns and bleeds.

To all the elemental shamans here, this is how I killed the boss on my second attempt (I had crappy ilvl 461 gear). I guess it's kind of basic stuff but here it goes:

1. In the start, pop Bloodlust, Fire Elemental Totem, Ascendance, and any other offensive cooldown you have.

2. Save Ancestral Guidance and Healing Tide Totem to keep you alive after Ascendance wears off.

As an iLvl 528 SP there is no viable tactics other than nuke.
He got 2% off my health and I got 4 millions of his.
Not even a remotely fair fight. But then again he perhaps was a bit rusty as no one pays any attention to him nowadays.

Solo'd as iLvl 500 Fire Mage. Was actually pretty simple.

Open with Pyro then just keep up Living Bomb and Ice Barrier and nuke him with your normal attack (I use Frostfire Bolt). Use Pyro! procs and Combustion and just keep nuking. I had to recast Ice Barrier twice, I think, and Incanter's Ward once right after I got hit with the disorient.

Also, once he's dead, you can Ice Block off all the debuffs.

Solo'd this as a Disc Priest at lvl 90 for survivability after having played a Shadow Priest up to this point. I can't even begin to claim to know anything about playing Disc.

Specific talents I chose: <Psyfiend> <Solace and Insanity> <Divine Insight> although I don't think DI was that useful.

Glyphs: <PW: Shield> <Smite> <Penance>

My ilvl was 513 and I had a 556 (flex fully upgraded) weapon from the previous night ; enchanted and gemmed for Shadow spec even though I was disc.

I cast Penance, PW: Solace, Psyfiend, Shadowfiend on cooldown. Otherwise I cast Smite. I might have cast PW: Shield occasionally.

I don't recall casting any other spells. I got disoriented but I doubt my health ever went down below 80%.

If you can't survive as Shadow, you should definitely do this fight as Disc. Very Easy!

I took the advice of others here and popped almost everything at the start except any pets. He took a minute or two but he went down without a problem and without major damage to myself.
