These creatures are most likely named after the Jörmungandr (World Serpent) of Norse mythology. The Jörmungandr was one of three children of the giants Loki and Angrboda (whom the Vrykul queen is probably named after). It was an immense serpent that encircled Midgard, and at Ragnarök it would do battle with Thor, its arch enemy, where they would kill each other.

This trinket puts a dalarny looking bubble around you. Does not protect you from damage its just for looks. You are also transformed into a Gorilla, You can run as fast as they do so it helps but once again you can only use it Every hour.

It makes a great hunter pet! It has a nice powerful DPS.

Wowhead states that these have a 25% Jormungar Scale skinning droprate. I just killed 15 in a row and not a single scale. Either I have terrible RNG or the phasing of this area makes a difference to what you can skin off them. I haven't done any Storm Peaks quests with my hunter, so was wondering if it's possible that the initial phase that these spawn in prevents them from having anything but Borean Leather skinnable.

Edit: Ok, it was bad RNG. Five more kills and I got my first scale. 1/20 is not 25% :(

It seems that during the quest to feed the ancient king of the frost giants, for hunters at least, you can tame them in ghost form. Fun little pet for those who want something a little different.
