Clutchmother Zavas is a rare elite who spawns in the hatching rooms (from the quest Alien Ecology) of The Slithering Scar in Un'goro Crater. I found her in the one to the right. I do not know if she spawn in the other.

She's level 54 and fairly easy to kill. Beware that she does "lay eggs", meaning she spawns level 48 grubs. I killed her as a level-52 warlock, but her four kids got their revenge.

Idd, she's not elite, but the grubs, which spawn from the eggs she lays, are not very easy... dont be fooled try to break as much eggs as possible.

i found her at 48,85 in the first room to the left. easy to kill. dropped Wanderer's Belt of Intellect

She is an elite. I just killed her, so without any doubt what-so-ever Clutchmother Zavas is a lvl54 rare-spawn elite.

Can't tell you how tough she is, I killed her with a lvl57 retri pala....bit of an unfair fight really...only took about 4-5 swings.

Can she be found outside of the quest? Or is the room itself a part of the quest? Since it appears to be no longer available.

Lays eggs that spawn Larve Gorishi which are now a tamable hunter pet, and so would be sought after.

EDIT (5.2): It seems the Larve Gorishi are no longer tamable.

I just found her inside the tunnels at the Slithering Scar. After reading the comments I was unsure about a couple things so I will be a bit more clear here.

She spawns INSIDE the tunnels. If you look at your map you will see three basic sections, she spawns in the right side, circular area. http://www.wowpedia.org/File:WorldMap-TheSlitheringScar14.jpg?c=1 . When I was looking for her I was patroling the whole tunnels but indeed she seems to only spawn on the right section and not patrol, just stands there.

For hunters, you need to aggro her and she will lay eggs. The eggs will hatch and you can tame the larva. Be sure to un-equip your weapons and make sure after you tame the larva you quickly put pet on passive and instruct it not to attack the rare so other hunters can have a go.

Any ideas on the spawn rate? The timing or anything? Or does it have to be with a specific quest, day, or something like that?

Just checked,alien ecology has been removed from game.cant pick it up or complete if you have it.hope i'm not wasting time waiting for her to spawn.

I've seen her 3 times while camping her for both me and a friend, and she seems to have had a 2 hour respawn timer each time.

In 5.2, the grubs she summons will no longer be tamable, possibly sooner. So hurry if you want this pet! She spawns in the middle of the east circle room on the map. Just wait for her to spawn, make sure your pet is on passive or you have dismissed your pet. You don't want to kill her. After she spawns, simply run into her so she attacks you, wait for the eggs to spawn and hatch into the grubs, then tame one.

If you're nice, you'll quickly put your pet on passive and leave her alive for another Hunter, or a leveler in the area instead of killing her.

Why cant I tame it? It says tamable but at the same time when I go to tame it says it cannot be tamed?

Woot. I was bored tonight, so I went to check it out. There was a hunter from another realm there. He whispered, asking me not to kill Clutchmother Zavas, and I promised and asked for the same courtesy.

We waited about 30 minutes before Zavas spawned and we both got our larvae tamed, bowed to each other, and hearthed out. I love it when a plan comes together!

Wigital, dude, of course the creature is tamable, if u are not certain of something, stop giving wrong info to ppl. First of all, try using " Beast Lore ", on the creature, than you'll see about that creature being " exotic ". So if u have BM spec, u can tame it. Btw, it gives u a nice 10% permanent stamina buff, I mean, while the creature is alive :P And it has event that " sprayed net ",

I encountered this creature while riding around in Un'Goro. My character is level 60 and Zavas appeared to me as a level 63 elite beast while everything else in the zone was around level 30's. It is odd for this level 63 elite to be here amongst a level 30 zone so I decided to look her up on Wowhead. Weird.
