Once you reach level 81 if you go and do the fight in the gear you wont get the title. I tested it just for you. :)

Not worth it, this titel implies hours and weeks of raiding ulduar with a group that is willing to stay at level 80 all that time to gear up and kill algalon.

Here's my synopsis:

Recruiting:
This was a very tough run to put together as it requires all 10 players level 80 and geared as other players have explained. We actually tried to recruit this twice with the first run falling apart due to people not getting to 80 or not bothering to gear.

My suggestion is to post on wow websites (wowhead, mmochamp) and allow people to server transfer. I was hesitant during the first run to allow this as I didn't want to be responsible for the transfer fee if things fell apart, but this helps tremendously as people who transfer are generally more destined to finish this due to the monetary obligation on their part. The second run was composed of 2 server transfers, 4 friends, and 3 solidly reliable players from our server.

Group Composition
Our group make up was as follows:

DK Tank
Pally Tank (me)
Disc Tank Heals
Pally Tank Heals
Shaman Raid Heals
Destro Lock DPS
BM Hunter DPS
BM Hunter DPS
Arcane Mage DPS
Rogue DPS (unsure of spec)

Arcane Mages at level 80 DESTROY in DPS. He was pulling 11k consistantly. In fact, most of the 80 DPS is so unbalanced these days we had multiple people pulling ~8-9k damage which resulted in only two big bangs. We used cata flasks (mastery + resistance on tanks, stat elixirs on everyone else) and food buffs. Call us cheaters due to that but the real challenge of this title now-a-days is getting 10 80's together and geared for it.

Tips on the fight
I'm not going to go over the entire fight strategy as many people have previously explained it better than I ever could. Here are just some tips from our own run where we were noticing issues:

The biggest challenge we had was the tank swap at 4 stacks. You need to give healers a countdown before the tank transition happens as even with cata pots/flasks/elixirs/food he's going to hit you for a megaton of damage. Additionally, and in case anyone was wondering, you can get the mining perk of 525 for 120 stam. That is a huge bonus and worked really well for us. Same goes for other profession perks, but note that high end BS/Tailor/Leather create bonus adds to armor/weapons that won't work on level 80 items. Again, use a mastery potion (reforge all gear to mastery) and a magic resist potion (helps reduce exploding star damage/cosmic smash) for tanking.

The second biggest issue was Cosmic Smash. It is REALLY hard to see on the ground even with graphics turned to low. If someone has a sharp enough eye let them call out where it is. Having someone count down to when it's going to be cast (via DBM) is also incredibly helpful. It's also very helpful to turn down graphics to low with project textures enabled as this reduces some of the clutter from the floor, enabling you to see the Cosmic Smash a little better.

Finally, the Constellations will close black holes when people run into them. It's important for the off tank to be picking these up as best they can and getting rid of them so they don't end up randomly aggro'ing another member in the run. If they do end up randomly aggro'ing, once Big Bang is cast the player will inevitably run to a black hole and close it due to the Constellation following them. This will cut off access to anyone else who was planning to escape from that same black hole.

Gearing
Save yourself the trouble and do ICC 5 mans for i232 weapons (heroic) and i219 armor. The rest of the slots can be purchased with JP (including two pieces of i226 tier). You *could* run Ulduar 10 man hard/25 man normal over and over but you'll gear much faster through JP/ICCs. ToC 5 man normal still drops the BiS trinket for tanks (The Black Heart) and is worth farming. We weren't in the absolute best gear but the majority of it was i226 and we still rocked Algalon hard. The cata buffs were probably the biggest factor and essentially make up for any less-than-stellar gear that you have on.

Misc. Thoughts
The last thing I want to mention is make sure to do a gear inspection of the entire raid before starting on Algalon. Ensure the following:
Main Hand, Off Hand, Ranged: i232 MAX
Totem/Libram/Sigil/Armor: i226 MAX

We had everyone take off their tabards and heirlooms just to be safe.

Good luck to anyone attempting this: it's one of the most challenging but awesome things to achieve in this game.

If an 80 groups up with some 85s all of which are in the level appropriate gear, will that 80 still get the title/achievement?

It's specific in that no one that is above level 80 will be eligible for the achievement, but it doesn't say specifically if everyone present for the kill has to be level 80, just that the characters there for the title have to be level 80. If anyone above level 80 is in the group and doesn't ruin everyone's eligibility for the title, he/she can only merely assist the level 80s, and that person will have to wear the appropriate gear.

However, I would be very surprised if it checked every character's item level but did not perform a check and mandate that everyone in the raid be level 80.

Also, as someone has mentioned before, it would likely be quite challenging to do this with one or more characters above 80 (who aren't after the title) because of combat ratings. Algalon l'Observateur would count as a level 93 for characters at level 90. For example, it's probably impossible to hit-cap at 90 with the gear available in Ulduar.

I just got the title a few hours ago, here are a few tips to aid groups attempting this achievement as of 4.3:

- You can use LESSER gear, so long as your armor does not exceed an item level of 226. So if you have everything but your neck and shoulders as ilvl 200, for example, you're good so long as you can tank, heal, or dps to the appropriate numbers.
- You CAN use ilvl 232 weapons, only armor must be no higher than 226. I had a 232 wand equipped and still got the title.
- You CAN use Cata food buffs and flasks. I used both and still got the title.

Also, this is NOT an easy fight. Even with Cata scaling and some help from food and flasks we wiped on some of the mechanics before getting the title.

With the "Battle.net-account-wide achievements" coming in MoP, does this mean all your toons will have this title (as long as you've got the achievement on 1 toon)?

Unfortunately I missed the opportunity to get this achievement on my main, who is now 85. However, I have a soon-to-be level 80 alt, so I was wondering if I got the achievement on my level 80, will my 85 main also be granted the title when it becomes account-wide in the new xpac?

When I was gearing up my character for Herald, I was surprised there was limited information on Wowhead for gear slots. During my research I came across this website and thought I would share, it has each class/spec best in slow gear for your character.

Herald of Titans, like others Feat of Strengh where you see that you earn a title in the description of the archievement, is account wide & you can "wear" the title. (The Immortal, The Undying, Conqueror of Ulduar, Champion of Ulduar, etc, etc)

But, all of this are only available when you reach the level needed to acquire the achievement. (lvl80 for the one that I quote for exemple)

FoS like Hand of Adal or Naaru Champion, are also account wide despite the fact that you earned them with an old chain quest.

Edit: On 5.4 PTR, all professions are neutralized, and grant profession perks based on character level rather than profession skill point. If this change carries to live, then this thread will become obsolete.

Since the title is still available in Mop, it is worth to mention a few things about choosing profession if you really want to save time for grinding a BiS set for this. Notice that the minimum required level to train 600 profession is 80, and in future expansion the minimum level would likely be increased to 85 (always 2 expansions behind), so it may be a good idea to start building an 'ultimate herald toon'.

Consumables:
Lv.80 toons can use cata flask such as Flacon de l'esprit draconique, and cata food such as Gâteau de la chance. MoP food and flasks requires Lv.85-Lv.90 to use.

Profession Bonuses:
Alchemy: Gain from this profession would be limited to 16 prime stats (24 if stamina, which has a 1.5 multiplier, same calculation below), no matter what level of flask you used. Also, it should be noted that Flacon de l'alchimiste can be tricky. Although it states as a 320 prime stats boost on tooltip, when consumed by a Lv.80 toon, it only gives 16 stats boost (which is calculated based on WotLK flak stats).

Blacksmith: Even though wrist/glove socket does not have restriction on item level, the gems do, thus the bonus would be 40 of any stats.

Enchanting: mop ring enchant requires minimum ilvl of 372, thus we can only cata ring enchant, which is 80 prime stats.

Engineering: engineers have access to their latest perks such as , which is equivalent to 320 prime stats. In addition, they also have quality of life bonuses such as Nitro-survolteurs, making engineering one of the most useful profession for this fight (dps and tank wise).

Herbalism: these herb farmers have access to , equivalent to 480 haste. Based on class and spec, this can be an insane burst. However, farm herbs on low level alt can be a painful process.

Inscription: the mop bop shoulder enchant requires lv.90 to use, thus they can only use cata inscription-only shoulder enchant. However, it should be noticed that normal shoulder enchant from therazane is not available to lv.80, which makes this profession slightly better than enchanting (roughly 100 prime stats).

Jewelcrafting: gems has item level requirements, thus the bonus would be 40 of any stats.

Leatherworking: Not only they have access to the latest wrist exclusive enchant, but also they can use the cheap leg enchant. For agi/str users or tanks, the bonus can reach as high as 750 prime stats, even for casters the bonus would be near 500 prime stats.

Mining: miners have access to which increases 480 stamina. Only useful to tank, and farm minerals on low level alt can be a painful process.

Skinning: skinners have access to which increases 480 crit. Though, farm skins on low level alt can be a painful process.

Tailoring: Not only they have access to the latest triggerable back enchant, but also they can use the cheap leg enchant. For casters or healers, the bonus can reach as high as 800 prime stats, even for agi/str dps, the bonus can reach 400 prime stats.

Conclusion:
Leatherworking and Tailoring are easy winners for most dps/healer, while herbalism/engineering can be useful for certain dps classes and mining can be useful for tank.

Herald of the Titans achievement, which Devai says he got with the bug. The Herald bug, now fixed, meant that if you were able to take down Algalon in under 10 seconds, you could get the achievement at level 90.

I'm still baffled by how easy we killed Algalon in 5.4, the whole raid's ilvl was between 219-223, gemmed and enchanted, we used Cataclysm's pots/food/flasks, lusted right at the start and we killed him before we even had to deal with Big Bang or Living Constellation's mechanics.

The off tank didn't had to switch once, we had 3 healers and 5 dps, the dps was between 14k and 18k except one who pulled 8.5k.

Despite reading how hard it is to do it now in WoD it is still pretty easy as long as people know what they are doing and avoid damage. Managed to get it today with the following setup: 2/3/5, we tried with 2/2/6 but the damage was unhealable with 2 - the tank spike damage is pretty high : both were 45k+ buffed and the boss was managing to bring that to 5-10k in under 2 seconds.

I'm currently working on group with my guild to level/gear up alts to run this. I will update with what things we find out (likely through trial and error). For the most part, I've found out that this achievement is still, uh, achievable. For the most part, we have have as follows;

Before you ask, yes, this doesn't add up to 10 man. We're still trying to figure out if we want 5 DPS/3 Healers or 6 DPS/2 Healers. Likely more DPS than heals before people will have to know mechanics as well as their class before I'd bring them along. Plus, it's guildies. Ayyy lmao~

P.S. You can use either BC or Wrath epic gems (they both give the same values) and I suggest either your main stats (Intel, Agi, Str, etc) and enchant with either Daenor enchants or perhaps MoP enchants for main stats. However, almost every single class/spec will want one stat in particular and there aren't that many ways to get a hold of it; Mastery. It's so powerful at lvl 80 that it's not even funny.

Just asked a GM if I could get gear 226 ilvl from Ulduar25 and he responded that i can't. Even if the gear is the same ilvl as ulduar10 hardmode, u can't use it because it isn't from ulduar 10. Here's the quote in my language:

Fun Fact: You cannot equip this title until you are level 80. I just started a new toon and wanted to toss this on there. Can't do it... checked my level 50-something toon, no title. Level 80 Rogue can equip it though. So... Level 80+ account wide title.
