I think the spike for the token price and the price difference between US and EU are caused by many different things. For once, I think that people in Europe have more spare money. I think that living conditions in the EU are way better, rent is way cheaper and there are less unplanned expenses with for example health care. It's way easier to safe up money in europe than it is in the US. So I think there are WAY more people in europe who buy tokens and sell them for ingame gold. So there is way more money in the game that gets distributed. Also I think that the spike is caused by blizzard doing a "buy BfA expansion, get Legion for free" action. More players are coming back right now, potentially also people with a lot of gold. Hmm.. I hope Blizzard adds more goldsinks in the future. Inflation is a scary thing!
The darkmoon faire is definitely a good place to make gold! The Daggermaws are especially lucrative because they are used for so many things (mount, toy, pet, feasts). I never thought to farm for the fish while waiting for spawns ^^. I'm generally at the DMF for a very short amount of time to gain tickets/do prof quests so I may have to change some plans to make a little extra gold ....
I'm looking forward to the darkmoon fair and trying that farm, I was already planning on farming the daggermaws anyway hadn't thought of the pets though.I've been focusing on the food/ alch consumables at the moment figuring that even if they don't sell as well for now when bfa launches I should be able to make a tidy pofit.
Thank you for this very interesting article. I will try the hints from part "Improving Auction House Sales" soon and we will see if it helps to farm gold :) Do you know if the price of the WoW Tokens will be cheaper in the future? Or maybe blizzard will disable the tokens in the future?
I really hope blizzard will implement something about EU token price. It getting out of control.
i repost just raid consumables in evening / night in weekends since i do this in high pop server this prices vary very fast. i stop caring for a particular material and star massification on various mats to get more of the markets
Ah, i have to do the Ashran achievements as well as the Strand of the Ancients? I only repost my auctions when they're expired. i don't have the time i used to to play WoW. :(
I am currently barely making any gold. I repost all my auctions (400) every 48 hrs, and I have a couple of slow moving items im aware of like removed starter shirts, quiver, 101 boe's and a mythic rogue HFC belt. In BFA im going to make sure to start mining/herbing immediatly
Three tokens a month is my minimum target. The flux in pricing has a decent enough impact, but the goal has been hit for the last couple months, so i can't complain too much. Hope to be able to purchase BfA for each of those accounts so the Fam can enjoy the new content without forking out close to 200 USD.
The token will be too expensive when I can no longer play for free and still turn a healthy profit. My income rate sure isn't increasing as fast as the token price, but maybe a couple more maxed-out class halls will help.I thought, when tokens were first created, Blizz said they controlled the price directly. Is that no longer the case? The price spikes at obvious times, but overall it has only ever trended upwards (in the US at least). If it were tied to supply and demand, it would go down sometimes too. In fact, at a time like this, with nothing new to buy and players dropping out as usual between expansions, there's no good reason the token shouldn't be heading back down towards its original ~20k price. A steady increase in price isn't some kind of immutable economic law, especially when sellers don't set their own prices. If the price jumped in the EU, it's because Blizz decided the token should be more expensive.
i myself can make more than 2-3m gold every month but im starting to think i should stop buying wowtoken with this price... it just not worth it anymore tbh... well atleast not for me... i can buy some other stuff in game with gold
Some good points about AH auctions, sometimes it is a bit fustrating posting, and rarely getting a sale. Unfortunately i'm on a low pop server.
Last time i fishing at darkmoon island i buy Darkwater Skate but now i can sell some fishes or stock them at my bank!
Using the Auction House feels like a waste of time, at least if you have enough alts. Posting auctions and looking at prices just takes so much time, even if I undercut heavily.
It will be interesting to see how garrison auction parts will be affected in BFA, with Ashran having crucial parts, but also being temporarily disabled perhaps for half an expansion. I am personally excited and I am hopping this will lead me to a successful gold-making venture, as I am quite new myself at being a "Goblin" entrepreneur in World of Warcraft!
I don't use the DMF for making gold, although maybe I should. I tend to end up with a lot of prize tickets because when I low-key level an alt, I use the DMF for fast xp. Turning in all the dungeon/pvp quests I got on other characters, and doing the minipet dailies. I also send my 110s to the fair at least once, to pick up the rep buff (and then use all my saved up rep tokens). And for profession quests, those last 5-10 points are a lot cheaper when the DMF is in town. One expansion I did use the DMF for gold, from the tarot card trinkets. I had craploads of herbs (gathered while camping/patrolling for a really rare spawn), and cards were the best place to dump them.
Thanks for the heads up about the Darkmoon Rabbit.
I'm currently thinking about pulling out of the transmog market and moving more heavily into the crafting professions. Built up a sizeable fortune buying and relisting underpriced transmog, but getting slightly tired of the slow turnaround time. No time like a new expansion to change things up a bit, and I've still got plenty of time to level up some alts and professions.
"What are you going to do next to expand your gold-making?" I'll stick to the markets I have, unless some miraculous tip comes up in another one (I have sometimes auctioned a glyph or two, for instance). A lot of people stick to certain items within certain professions and forget that there are many others. Don't be blinkered. You can do a lot of expansion within your chosen - and comfortable - professions, without / BEFORE venturing out. Getting used to expansion in that way - properly maximising your existing potential - can bolster confidence for trying totally new markets.
Making gold seems prety easy nowadays, at least in te US realms, thanks for the awesome tips about the auction house
