Tonight when we downed him for the first time, I had it on Master Looter, and my guild member was the intended recipient of the item, however neither of us could loot it. We changed it to group loot and did the fight again and then only he could loot it.

He is extremely easy (and rather disappointing), as long as you keep the melee at max melee range so they don't get knocked back.

Very easy fight. Our MT died twice (he charged in before the healers were ready to do their thing), and we still downed him easily enough. A bit of a let down of a fight after all the work that went in to getting to this point in the quest, but... ah well, the reward is worth it.

All raid bosses - aka ? mobs are considered 3 levels above the person attacking them, for the purposes of all calculations. Which would mean for a lvl 70 it would be effectively a lvl 73 mob. But for a lvl 60 it would effectively be a 63 mob.

Please note this does no effect the mobs HP and other stats which remain static, the lvl is for the sake of calculating dodge/parry/to miss/to hit/defense/block etc etc - those sorts of things, ratings based stuff :)

As far as I know, even at level 60 he was not really a 40-man boss. He is a simple tank and spank with a chain lightning counterable by spreading out and a knockback which will not even affect the tank because it has a smaller range than the size of his body. So he MIGHT be soloable at level 80.

I wanted to get Thunderfury for fun, and sentimental reasons. Eventually got all the quest items and headed to Silithus to kill this guy. Got a level 80 paladin tank to get his attention while I took a bunch of cool screen shots. The tank was easily able to stay alive and he actually had to stop attacking so I could finish taking shots. DPS'ed him dead in less than half a minute with the 2 of us. A bit of a let down that we could 2 man it (though Mr. Paladin Tank could have solo'ed it) when back in the day you'd need a raid. Still fun though.

Prince Thunderaan has ~333.000 Hitpoints, and Nature-immune.
Against as Ragnaros and Murmur, Thunderaan is able to move.

Interesting tidbit in relation to the "boss level" discussion - a level one character in rogue heirloom gear has enough hit rating to always hit a ? boss, but not enough to hit a level 5. Of course, it'd be somewhat useless to bring a level one along (pretty sure the heirloom +hit drops below the +3 hitcap around level 10), but considering how few world bosses have a hard enrage, you COULD theoretically raid Thunderaan, Kazzak, or any other world boss (Without a hard enrage, dunno about Kazzak, actually) with a raid of level ones... or not, now that Blizz forced you to be level 10 to join a raid. Still... you could have a couple hundred level ones pounding on one while the tankadin/DK tries not to fall asleep.

Lol when I did my kill I had a lvl 57 horde standing right he spawns, now that was funny, after the boss 2 shotted the horde then me and my guildies got him dead fast. Full guild effort to get elementium for me so we had 31 lvl 80's there that wanted to see it

@spookykid actually, supremus is at least 100 feet taller than those you mentioned, i compared them, and they are way smaller than him, but by way of actual power, ragnaros takes the cake, hes one of the old gods leutenants.

That isn't true, West. Prince Thunderaan looked like any other elemental before blizzard changed his model as shown in this video of the first one made. Mind you this was before the quest was fully implemented.

IF you plan to kite him for funzies, do not go through the main entrance to org/sw because people are jerks and they will kill him at the gates. kite him through the side, like the troll/goblin section of org or sw harbor. it might take 5 minutes longer but itll be worth it

Get your history start Thunderaan is not own of the lieutenants: the lieutenants were Ragnaros the Firelord, Therazane the Stonemother, Al'Akir the Windlord, and Neptulon the Tidehunter. Thunderaan is just a Prince of air, a strong elemental of old or something like that

i love WoW background, apparently ragnaros tricked thunderaan and lured him into a trap with 2 of his captains, garr and geddon. they each took one of his bindings and ragnaros consumed thunderaan, gaining more power than ever before. thus, that is why ragnaros looks like thunderaan almost, he has his whole whirlwindy look.. pretty intense

for everyone that doesnt kno how to start the quest chain: This quest begins when you loot either the Right or Left half of the Bindings of the Windseeker, which drop off Baron Geddon and Garr in Molten Core. Upon looting one of these, you must travel to Silithus and talk with the Highlord Demetrian, who will then give you the Vessel of Rebirth, which will start the quest chain.

Ok it goes like this:
you kill garr/geddon in MC get a rare drop of 1 of the bindings... after that you get the second bind,kill raggy get a 100% drop from him if you got the quest.
then go get 10 bars, each bar needs 1 ore and 10 arcanite bars, oh and 3 elemental flax.
then when you got 10 bars get a raid and kill this boss.
a guy in my guild got this sword... he bought all the bars with gold... we didnt killed the first boss in BWL and he got the sword now... we had a full RG of the guild more 15 ppl from guild and 30ppl raid from a guild in the realm that helped us :)
the boss was down in less then a min and then we summoned 2 more :)

He is part of the quest line for the legendary thunderfury sword. You can only summon him if you have both the bindings that drop in Molten Core. The reason he isn't there anymore is that everytime someone summons him he is dead within 2 minutes.

He is located in the Northwest corner of Silithus in a place called "The Crystal Vale" but im warning you beforehand that he probly won't be there because you have to summon him and every time he gets summoned a raid usually kills him.

To summon this guy, you need:

Bindings of the Windseeker, the "right" half, a < 4% drop from Garr in Molten Core.
Bindings of the Windseeker, the "left" half, a < 4% drop from Baron Geddon in Molten Core.

Once you have either of these, pick up the quest chain from. After that, you need:

100 thorium bars, from mining
100 arcane crystals, from mining
100 arcanite transmutes, from alchemists, with a 48-hour cooldown
10 elementium ore, a < 5% drop from goblins in Blackwing Lair
10 fiery cores, a 11% - 25% drop from assorted fire elementals in Molten Core.
30 elemental flux, 15G each from your friendly neighborhood blacksmith supplier.
1 Essence of the Firelord, a 100% drop from Ragnaros, once you have the quest. Ragnaros is the end-boss of Molten Core, and tends to violently refuse to cooperate with people who wish to kill him.

A priest must mind-control Master Elemental Shaper Krixix, a goblin in Blackwing Lair. Once done, the priest can use the goblin to teach the "Smelt Elementium" ability to everyone in the raid (whether they have the mining skill or not). Someone with this skill can then combine the arcanite bars, fiery cores, elemental flux, and elementium ore to make 10 elementium bars.

Turn in the elementium bars, the bindings, and the essence of the firelord to Demitrian, and he'll summon Thunderaan. Kill Thunderaan, loot him, and complete the quest chain. The reward is Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.

We killed him with 13 ppl:
1 Warrior, 1 Druid, 4 Hunter, 3 Priest, 2 Rogue, 2 Mage.
He does only nature damage, no physical attacks.
The fight took ~3min, he has only ~350k hp.

I tanked this guy this last weekend, and he hits pretty hard for being an easy raid boss and dying really fast. He was hitting me for full Nature Damage for around 2000 damage each hit with his occasional Nature Damage spell which did around 2500. Eventually, after 5 healers chain healing and me only at 7000 hp, I went down when Thunderaan was at 20 or so percent.

Also, Thunderaan does not have very much at all in terms of hit points.

Remember, if you are the one trying for the Thunderfury, do not release and try to run back if you die when it's anywhere near 60% or less. You'll miss the loot and have to summon Thunderaan again.

All in all, this weapon is well worth the time. If you were awesome at holding aggro as a tank in MC, this will only make holding aggro easier and you'll have more of it so the rest of the raid can do more damage earlier and faster =)

So what happens if you mess up the fight? It looks like this is a hard fight to screw up, but it would be nice to know what happens if your raid were to get steamrolled by the opposite faction in the middle of the fight.

HOW TO OBTAIN Lame-tonnerre, épée bénie du Cherchevent

Receive both Liens du Cherchevent (drop rate: 4,08%) from Garr and Liens du Cherchevent (drop rate: 4,28%) from Baron Geddon in Cœur du Magma.
Visit Généralissime Demitrian in Silithus. He will give you Calice de la renaissance to start the quest Examiner le Calice which leads to Tonneraan le Cherchevent.
Kill Ragnaros for Essence du seigneur du Feu (100% drop rate when you have the quest in your log).
Aquire 10x Barre d'élémentium enchantée.
Bring your guild and head back to Généralissime Demitrian. Turn in the quest and he will summon Prince Tonneraan which will drop Lame du baiser du vent dormante.
Complete Éveille-toi, Lame-tonnerre ! and you're done!

Mats needed for 10x Fonte de l'élémentium enchanté:

100x Barre d'arcanite (100x Barre de thorium + 100x Cristal arcanique + 100x Transmutation : Arcanite)
