hi evryone,
do you know if this recipe can replace some tools in the leveling crafting? and go for it? on my realm, i can afford this recipe for 20k or a little bit more.

Got this from a rare in the area where you help wrathion/ sebelian daily/weekly. You will need a zapthrottle item from an engineer to get a earthen soul from a rare earth mob (BoP). Or ask through work orders.

Once learned, this recipe cannot be work ordered or crafted for someone else.
It simply does not show up in the list of items that can be work ordered.
And since its bind on pickup, you can only craft it for yourself right now.

Dropped off of Rohzor Forgesmash. Had 53 Dragon Isle blacksmithing skill at time of drop. Not sure if skill matters.

Is it known if this only has a chance to drop from the first kill each day or if it can drop from repeated kills?

The drop chance doesn't seem to be that low. I got it on my main and there are 2 other people on my guild at least who got this, but unfortunately you can't place a work order for it, so I'm trying to get a second one for one of my alts.

I have killed him 36 times at time of posting, 11 times today. I have received no confirmation that killing multiple times in a day will yield the pattern. A guildmate came out to camp with me and got it on his first kill, my 9th of the day. I have completed every quest and daily quest in the Obsidian Citadel area, and every daily available today. My Blacksmithing is 69 (giggity). I'm not sure why this game hates me so, but this is still eluding me.

Can someone confirm if they've gotten after multiple kills in the same day? All I am getting now is gold and key scraps per kill.

I killed this jerk like 30 times, on my BS alt, no drop. Then i realized i didnt have the plans for obsidian seared alloy for something else, which you get from completing Expertise métallique

It may still be just an old fashioned crappy RnG drop, and could be just a coincidence that it dropped the first kill after i completed Expertise métallique and learned the pattern, but thats my experience.... take if for what you will.

I realized that the "A Head for Metal" quest is weekly by checking for completion with this script :
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(67221))
and it said false. So if you are trying for the hammer recipe be sure to complete A Head For Metal first, even if you did it previously!

I wasn't going to bother going to OC because my warrior is only level 68 and I can't solo mobs on my own because I had wanted to do the A Head For Metal for the alloy recipe for first craft points and also because I need to make a lot of alloys for crafts and I just got the multicraft skill for alloys too. I went anyways because I was doing the weekly 3k renown quest and I had turned in a lot of DSE tokens for 100% extra rep because I'm maxed out on all renowns on my main and that's the quickest way to do the 3k quest, if you have enough you can turn all tokens in for 1 rep and finish the rep part, but not the other part where you need to do something else like a hunt or feast event.

Since I was already at the DSE vendor and OC was right there and was about 200 renown off for quest I flew over to OC and right when I got there Rohzor was up, I ignore him because I had to do the skip to unlock OC quests and did a quick quest to get my 3k. Then I went to BS dragonkin to try and get the A Head For Metal quest and I couldn't get it because I am not lvl 70 or I need to loot the quest item or do quests 1st.

This is my only BS so I am not sure. Wouldn't you know it, Rohzor was right in front of me at like 3% hp as I was about to fly off and do other stuff. I am so bad at dismounting when I need to in time to kill a mob because my dragonriding mount keybinds is different on each toon and it's either R or G and I always get them confused lol. I almost didnt tag him and time, but I did. Right as I saw I could kill him, I was thinking maybe he'll drop the recipe. I completely forgot about it until someone in trade was trying to sell it. Then I looked and noticed I need the tool for my BS crafts.

Sure enough, the pattern dropped and I forgot the drop rate...1.6%. I haven't looted something on my 1st attempt in a long time since the Fallen Charger back in SL.
Some of you all have mentioned that you didn't have the alloy quest recipe unlocked after attempting to get it. Do you have to have that recipe for the alloy first before you can be able to loot the recipe? If not they may have changed it with Trading Post update and I am wondering if they boosted the drop rate too.

Super ironic I got the recipe when I really had no interest in getting it, I think I may have used a good amount of my RNG luck for a while.

It SEEMS as though you need to complete the weekly quest A Head For Metal during the SAME WEEKLY quest cycle. I had completed that quest a few weeks ago, and farmed last week with no luck UNTIL I did the quest again and farmed for the plans right away. Got the plans first kill. Although this may just be coincidence or dumb luck.

Okay... so it's questionable whether having done/not-done the Head for Metal quest impacts if this plan drops or not, but you know how you can loot elite rares once per day, is it the same with this dude when it comes to recipe for the hammer? I was optimistic reading post about ppl getting it on their first try. Alas, me being total #$%^e luck when it comes to RNG, this didnt happen for me.

The Plans : marteau touché par un Dragon noir chance to drop is on the first kill of Rohzor Martelforge each day. So do not bother farming him more than one kill per day. Good luck Blacksmiths. /salute

After killing Rohzor almost (~90%) every day since release on my blacksmith to farm the mini pet recipe, I finally read the wowhead comments and tried to do the quest " A Head for Metal " before killing him. Got this pattern of my first kill after doing the quest. Don't know if it's related or not, it wasn't the first time I did the quest as I already knew how to craft alloys, but I think it's worth mentioning my experience.

How to farm this recipe:
-3 rares spawn at a time out of 6 at the Citadel. Its random which 3 spawn
-After a rare is killed, a 20 min timer starts for the re-spawn of 1 rare
-This is a daily lockout on the loot table. You cannot farm him multiple kills in a day for a chance at the recipe.
-Be aware of when you are forced into a shard change. You will now have new timers and need to check if any of the rares are up.
-Be sure to check downstairs in the citadel if you cant seem to find that pesky 3rd rare.
-If the Emerald Dream is up in The Waking Shores, the spawn time for the Forgesmath rare will be ~1 hour.
-Expect to spend 1-2 hours farming your daily kill.
-Consider yourself lucky if you get the drop in less than 30 kills.

Things to do while waiting:
-weekly BS profession knowledge points, level blacksmithing at the forge at the citadel
-work on Slumbering Worldsnail Shell mount, Loyal Magmammoth mount, and Magmashell mount
-do assault on the citadel if its up and/or Grand Hunt
-do Roseate Hopper Pet and potentially sell on the AH
-collect a free 34 slot bag called Misty Satchel
-there are a couple toys to work on/collect in the Waking Shores
-daily's
-pet battles
-lava fishing can be decently profitable

GOT ON FIRST KILL WHEN SEASON STARTED. HAD NO INTENTION TO FARM. WAS ON MY BS AND HAD THE HEAD FOR METAL QUEST DONE.

Can you sell this pattern on the AH? Carnagias reacts to 1.6% drop rate Blacksmithing Plans Black Dragon Touched Hammer on 1st attempt!
