The tip to get 40 fishes in one try is get the most fishes possible at the start, and use Lâcher un grand filet the most you can.
If fail, you can speak with Ruriq to get back at the end of the session.

When used it gives you a fishable platform much like Radeau de pêche des Hameçonneurs. Weirdly, jumping doesn't seem to actually increase the speed at all, despite the buff having the same "jumping while rafting will paddle the raft, allowing you to move up to 130% faster" wording. Instead the speed just slowly increases as you move and then mildly fluctuates based on your normal movement speed--as a druid in caster form with 117% runspeed I could get it to around 160% speed, in cat form around 190%. By comparison, with the Angler's raft I can get over 300% speed in cat form. Of course, this raft is available--and usable--by anyone who can complete the achievement, while the Angler's one requires rep and Pandaria fishing to be learned and used.

To get the Tuskarr Dinghy and the achievement, you must talk to Ruriq after you've completed the Kauriq Gleamlet Questline starting at the quest, and choose, "I'd like to to take your River Rapids Ride again!" During the ride, you must collect 40 fish.

You will have two ways to catch fish. Pressing 1 will collect 1 fish at a time, it is a point and click mechanic; and pressing 2 will cast a net right under your boat to catch multiple fish, so make sure your boat is over a cluster of fish before deploying it.

You can keep track of the fish you caught by how many stacks of the Caught Fish buff you currently have.

If you are not successful in catching 40 fish in the first ride, do NOT talk to Ruriq immediately after the ride to take you back to the top of the river, because he will remove your buff. Instead, fly back and start the River Rapids Ride again. It will allow you to start the ride without losing your Caught Fish buff and allow you to catch the rest of the fish for the achievement, and the Tuskarr Dinghy reward.

You can no longer fly back up and retain your counter. Your buff will be reset when you interact with the boat again. This achievement really isn't that difficult. You just need to make sure you turn around and watch for fish respawning behind you.

One thing I noticed is that if you catch the fish at the beginning early enough, they'll spawn before you're out of range and you can catch them again. It helped me a lot in getting the achievement.

They seriously need to decrease the amount of fish needed for this achievement. Not everyone has the time to dedicate to this kind of thing. I just want to be able to fish on the water in PEACE!

So this one took me awhile to perfect.

In the very top part of the lake, before the boat is even moving start catching everything, starting with the things closest to you.
once you get to the area where there is like 5 or 6 schooled up, be turned around and catching the ones that respawn. Drop the big net on top of the school. You should have at least 17 fish from the top area before you drop below.

After that it is the same thing, catch what you can right away, drop the big net on the areas with 3-4, turn around catch all respawns you can.

The final attempt I made at this I actually finished with 43 fish. I think the key is that top area where you begin.

This honestly wouldn't be so bad if the damn net didn't miss half the time even when you throw it at something 5 feet away

Edit: After multiple attempts, too many to count, I managed to hit 42 in one trip. Hoshkar's comment was extremely helpful, and I will reiterate: concentrate all your effort on the very slow part before the first waterfall. If you're fast enough, you can get as many as 18-20 before you even hit the falls. Try your hardest there, and if you're not at 17+ before the first waterfall, then click the vehicle exit button to start over. It is possible, just frustratingly hard with the aiming issues

Managed it tonight after about 40 minutes of attempts.

The targeting for this is SO wonky, that even if you have the center of the net over the fish, you don't always get credit.

They either need to fix the targeting with the nets or lower the number of fish needed, because it's a matter of how lucky you get.

For those of us who have slower reaction times, there is a way to get the Tuskarr Dinghy. I stumbled on this a few days ago.

When the rafting run is ending, have your targeting circle open, but DON'T throw the net. After you've fully stopped, you will not be ejected from the dinghy. You can then target the 4-6 fish that spawn at the end of the run. Just wait for them to respawn and you can get the 40 fish you need.

It's a quest for neat little toy boat and it requires more dexterity than raiding. Ridiculous.

Just got the raft tonight.

The trick at the top is to reverse your angle and get as many fish respawning as you can. I had 16 when I dropped down from the first waterfall and that seemed to be the magic number.

Also, the second you enter the boat you can start throwing nets before it even starts moving.

Additionally, you have to use the net as much as you can. There are a few places you wouldn't think you need it but you do. Especially just before the last drop down there's a group of 2 you want to use it on since you can manually get the ones below when you fall since you slow down.

Fish keep respawning the entire way down but it's easy to miss the ones ahead from trying to go after those.

It took me about an hour or so to get it.

Start throwing nets as soon as you hop in , the respawn time of the fish is like 4-5 seconds so u get to have couple more extra stacks before going down the first waterfall.

When you do this daily to get achivement River Rapids Wrangler, and to get the toy Tuskarr Dinghy.
Talk to him and take the second alternative.
when you are done with the 25 fish taken, DONT leave the boat.
Keep throwing on the fish that spawns around.
I got the last 15 just by throwing on those that spawned around the boat when i stood stranded.
Achivement done, toy gathered:)

Guys This is Super Simple. Most people are explaining it right but they are missing one crucial part. The first thing you have to do is ZOOM the camera OUT all the way. After zooming your camera all the way out that's when you start your quest and start spamming the number 1 net on all the individual fish, but before you reach the very first big school of fish turn around and catch all the respawning fish you can. Then catch the first school of fish in the very first pool before you go down with the #2 Net. After that everything else should be easy. You're Welcome.

Something that helped me was to change my outline settings. It really made the fish easier to see and aim for.

If you wan to try go to options > graphics > outline mode - set it to atleast good

As someone who has tried this countless times since they "fixed it", I have read all the comments about about camera positioning and getting a decent amount of fish in the top pool but I could never get more than 34 fish and close to tearing my hair out, while It is clearly possible, it is incredibly difficult.

I just did a little experiment and got dinghy after 3 attempts - first 35, then 38, finally 40.

I believe the actual story quest where you do the fishing is easier than the world quest or when you talk to Ruriq and do the ride manually.

I went to Ruriq on an alt, need to do a short quest chain (10-15 mins) until he gives you the quest "Ruriqs River Rapids Ride" This ride seems so much easier, you still need to maximise number of fish in top pool respawning but I was suddenly getting more than my previous attempts and this finally seemed achievable. You need to get 10 fish for the quest but it does not auto complete.

DO NOT HAND QUEST IN UNTIL YOU GET 40, if you get less just go back to boat and try again.

I could not figure out a way to stay in the boat as some people have claimed, so all 40 must be in the same attempt

I think the story quest is either:
A) the ride is slower
B) there are more fish
C) the fish are in different positions (I think this is most likely)
D) This is all in my head and I suddenly got good!

I also tried a couple of manual rides after I got the achievement by speaking to Ruriq and was back to getting 32 - 34 fish. I think the story quest has a different pattern of fish along the route.

Let me know if anyone has success with this and good luck in getting the sweet dinghy!

For the Pêche en gros des rapides achievement, you must catch 40 fish in one run of Descente des rapides avec Ruriq by boat Le Téméraire with Ruriq on board at the Kauriq Gleamiet on the small lake, in Travée d’Azur, northeast of the Azure Archives.

As a reward you will get the toy Canot rohart, a small boat with which you can swim across the water.
If you haven't already done you need to start the quest line at Ruriq beforehand to be able to do the achievement.
The quest is also available as a world quest Descente des rapides avec Ruriq where you need to catch 25 fish if you have already unlocked the world quests.

When you start the quest or achievement you will get Poisson pêché where you can see how many fish you have already caught.
It is best to try to catch single fish with Lancer de filet and multiple fish with Lâcher un grand filet.
Try to catch 14 fish at the top of the start before the first waterfall and 22 fish before the second waterfall, then the chances are higher to get the achievement, that's how I did it.
Turn the camera to the back and try to catch the respawn of the fish as well.
The stupid thing is always when the boat turns fast, but after a few tries you know about how to turn the camera.
Sometimes the fish are not caught even though the net lands directly on the fish, and that is very angry.

With a little bit of luck it works well. I wish you good luck with the achievement. :-)

it says that by jumping you can increase the speed on water up to 130% but it does not seem to work for me. i'm pretty much always at walking speed. is this broken for anyone else too?

OK, I was complaining, and still hated this, but it is doable now, if just barely.

Note: all the cheese methods have been patched away.... it's this or nothing.

Key tricks:

1) Aim just above the fish. Think of yourself throwing a net, not shooting a target. This hits more often than any other method I could find.
2) While you do turn backwards after the first few fish, try to get to 6 minimum before you do. Get the ones you ordinarily sweep by too fast, So first 4 fish, ignore the school, grab the side and back fish, THEN turn back and get respawns (again, throw just above). Spam them (there is sometimes a delay before the fish gets hit, if you've done it twice move on) Then hit the Big Net on the school as you pass over it, grab the last one (if you missed it) as you swing by.
3) Now turn forward as you start to fall. You will remain forward until the last rapid.
4) You have to nail the first fish as you fall on each rapid while still in the air (this includes the last rapid drop). Then move the camera and get the ones you pass by. If the fish are close you can get two in a single throw and save the Big Net for the couple of schools.
5) If you do it almost perfect, you can get 40 ...barely.

Still think it is way too hard post patch, but you can do it.

One more thing, if you don't absolutely nail the first area before the first rapid, click the escape key and start over. No sense making yourself nuts. In fact, look at the counter in your buffs. if you don't have 36 as you start the last fall, escape out and try again. There are only 4 fish left at that point and that first one at the end is the hardest in the whole run.

Enjoy your Dinghy! No question you paid for it in pure 100% irritation at the nets missing.

Lol so my boat got stuck on the rocks right at the end and it let me just stay on it catching fish. I used the last 2 respawning spots to go from 28-40. Feels cheesy but at least I got it

Ok so here's my experience....
1. This took me about 5 hours to do, but in the end I actually caught 42!
2. Echoing what others have said.....that getting 14-17 fish in that first pool where you start is CRUCIAL, HOWEVER one thing I didn't realize until maybe 4 hours in was that I was turning my camera too late to catch respawns. You have to catch as many as you can and then turn camera to catch the respawns as they first appear, if you turn camera and you already have 2 or definitely 3 you have turned your camera too late. 3 is just too many to try to get before the drop, u need to get those respawns as they appear!
3. The aiming green circle/targeting is definitely bugged. The only time the single net (1 on the tool bar) caught more that 1 fish was if the boat was next to the fish. Meaning if you are trying to use the 1 to catch multiple fish it will only do that when the boat is next to them.
4. Rotating the camera/my angle above my toon and in front of my toon (so I could see behind him) worked miracles for me.
5. That first fish at the bottom of the waterfall at the end, is hard AF to get.. The only, and I mean literally the only, way I was able to get it was I had to cast the net while mid air, there is a red circle with a line through it when you first start falling, the moment it turns green you need to perfectly have it angled over it and cast it. that was the only way I was able to get that one. Waiting until I landed, I never EVER got it during my first 4 hours.
6. THE DAMN TOY IS CURRENTLY BUGGED......WHEN YOU PRESS SPACEBAR TO SPEED UP.....YOU DON'T SPEED UP AT ALL. >.<
~Good luck to those that pursue this after they fixed the flying back and keeping your stacks from the previous run. It's tough!

For a minigame this is not even in the slightest fun, if Blizzard wants to make the player base leave more quickly lets make this poorly made game harder for others, why is there a timer in the first place(5mins) if you're gonna treat it as a bug later when players that have already gotten the toy using the previous method, had to be repaired. Kinda toxic Blizzard. Really toxic.

Tips:

1. If you only look forward you will only catch 12 fishes at start (before the first waterfall). Trick is to keep looking behind you after the 2-3 first catch because fish repop super fast, you should be doing that till you set your first big net and right after that, then focus to what's in front of you. Doing so i managed to grab 18 fishes in the starting area, there is no downtime waiting for fishes you can't catch because it's too far away. Then it is really easy, it is basic spam. The only thing is avoid getting bait with your big net in couple spots where there is 3 fishes because right after that there's a group of 4 :)

2. Also don't forget to turn to "high" the "outline mode" in graphic options (use the search tool if you don't find it), will be way easier to see fishes (that's not the case for ore/nodes, at least for me and at day time).

3. Don't know if it is important but i did the achievement during the night/when it's dark so fishes were very easy to spot because glowing a lot.

Point 1 is very important and makes this achievement very very easy. I think i tried many times (6-7 times) without doing that and got stuck at 35 max and was like "wtf, it's impossible, you can't catch those missing fishes when the boat goes crazy".

I tried it today 01/21/23 and successfully got the achievement. Try to get to about 30 fish by the end of the ride. DO NOT LEAVE THE BOAT. There is a fish that will keep respawning where the boat dock. I was able to fish 10 of the same one with 4 minutes left on the buff. GL guys. Get it before they fix it

It.Is.Not.Doable.For.People.With.Disabilities. I appreciate all the tips, I do, but for me and others this is not a question of "git gud" or finding a better way to do this. I have never asked for anything in this game to be nerfed. I understand that everyone is not me. I would never ask for raiding to be easier for me. This is a quest for a little fishing boat. I will continue asking for it to be nerfed.

1/30/23 - updated. Very doable, at least for me. net Cooldown was reduced, doesn't seem to miss, fish highlighted, spawn faster, Hopefully this helps the rest of you as well!

Mine bugged out at the end and I was stuck on the boat. I had 35 or so and was able to get the last few respawning while it was glitched pushing against the shore. I had some unsuccessful attempts prior to this. I didn't seem like you can force the glitch from what others have said in previous comments. I do agree this is too hard to do in one run and the had trouble placing the nets. It was also a bit nauseating with motion sickness, as well, even if I made the camera stationary. Best of luck!

Something got fixed with this because I was STUCK at max 31/32 a couple weeks ago. Decided to try again last night and immediately noticed they fixed the net catching fish or even multiple fish and not missing them all via glitch. The fish now have light streams going up from them too.

First try I got 39. Second try I got 40 and got the toy. It was WAAYYYYYYYY easier. It was impossible before and now I was able to do it easily! I encourage everyone to try again!

And like others have said, i was able to get most of them in the starting area via catching them all and then turning around and getting them again when the respawned.

Completed today after all the nerfs and hotfixes. It was tough and took me about 20 tries in 24 hours. I decided to attempt it during cooking and hope the lag in the zone helped. I cannot say for sure that is what allowed me to finally get more than 38, but that is when I completed it.

Not impossible but very hard. Good Luck

I, like a lot of people found this very frustrating. 1off I couldn't even see the fish, then I changed my settings (thanks Lando) and that helped tremendously. I got the achievement on 15 tries (today LoL) . if you can't see the fish, change settings, try and get as many on top as you can (as been said) and if you are like me going backwards was not helpful except up top, and I had to turn very quickly. dropping the widest net coming over waterfalls added a lot to my run. most runs I was getting to the bottom - end with 30-33 and had enough time to grab the 3 there. I found the more I was getting frustrated the worse I was doing - 28-32. so I took a deep breath and came back and tried and remember to use the big net when off CD. Don't give up, if I can get, trust me - you can get it :)

I don't know if this was a glitch, bug or working as intended. At the end of the quest ride I was put on shore automatically. When I asked to ride again for the achievement and the Canot rohart at the end of the trip I had 35 fish, but was able to stay in the boat. I had missed a couple of fish just within reach of the net so I tossed the net on them. I got credit for both. I waited a few seconds and they respawned. I tossed the net on them again and got credit. I did this until I had the 40 needed. One trip down I got the Canot rohart.

I tried this several times all day long on and off. The closest I got was 37 . The issue is the nets dont regenerate fast enough to catch fish as your wizzing by. Blizz need to fix this or bring the count down its near impossible. Most who got the dingy did it before blizzard fixed the hack where you could go back and start over with the fish you caught on the first run.. Think the whole deal is awful and should be fixed or dropped to at least 35. SUCKS BLIZZ

This is item is bugged compared to other rafts like the Radeau de pêche des Hameçonneurs. Jumping doesn't provide the speed boost like it should.

Much better after the patch, but I'm still hoping they'll patch it again and make it so that the boat moving doesn't yank your camera back and forth so much. I'm getting 34-38 every time but the camera yanking suddenly left and right repeatedly makes me a bit motion sick, on top of making me miss multiple fish.

A great piece of advice I received was to turn your camera to look behind you after you catch the first few pools of fish in the starting area when you are moving slowly. The fish pools respawn very fast and you can scoop up the extra you need from there.

I found this to be easier to do during the time while the related world quest is up.
I'm not sure if anything is mechanically different but even the fact that the fish have a glowing outline was helpful.

Fishing are glowing now, MUCH easier to see and where to aim, I came awaiting to be mad and curse a lot since I gave up getting this amazing toy at launch but did now in 3 trys
Read the tips about trowing the net as soon as you start and now being able to see very easly where the fish are made it quite trivial at least for me

This took some practice, pulling out all the stops. First, I was using only the small net. Not too bad. That got me as high as 37 several times, but more often 34 or less. Make absolutely sure you start netting as soon as possible. You need not wait until the boat is moving.

I tried using a phial of perception, as I had seen that suggested. No luck there, so then I tried an aerated phial of deftness. Still not working. deftness seemed more logical to me anyway.

Next, go into the options. Turn on outlining to make the fish stand out. That helps with targeting. Still not enough. I also found that I was not gaining by using the big net at first. the milliseconds I wasted trying to decide which net to use cost me time I could have spent netting! Part of the problem there is just learning where the fish are, and learning when to use each net. I was now getting to the point where 37, and even 38 or 39 fih was normal, but never yet 40.

Next, I tried playing with the camera position. By default, my camera is set to always follow. And when I set it to allow me to look backwards and never follow, then I have to turn it back. Once the boat starts moving fast, this costs you time.

Next day, I start over. I use the single net on every fish in front of me in the first pool. This gives me a few seconds to turn around, and net those that have respawned. Get ALL of them if you can. When you drop down over a falls, as you are dropping, if you can time it, drop the large net, even if on a single fish you might otherwise not get. Now stay looking forwards. This is just practice, muscle memory more than thinking. You know where the fish will be. Do NOT turn around anymore. No time for that.

As I was hitting the last pool over that last falls, from way up, I see a fish down there below me. Drop the BIG net on it from high in the air. I here a bell, telling me I had won. Pick up two more fish to get to 42 just for kicks, and insurance.

In my opinion, do not watch the counter to know how well you are doing. Don't worry if you hit some magic number at the first drop. You absolutely know if you did well or not. Did you miss some fish in the beginning? If so, then you probably won't make it. Even so, keep on going without stopping the run, because you need to learn the fish positions perfectly on the entire run. Once you do, then you will succeed.

Not easy to do, but not that hard, once I knew how to do it. I don't know if the deftness helped or not. My guess is not, but I'll never know.

The really silly thing is, I already had the raft toy. The rule to remember: he/she who dies with the most toys, wins!
